Millennium 25 Live Asparagus Bare Root Plants - Free Plant Boost Included! 2yr-Crowns from Hand Picked Nursery

Planted a bed of these a couple weeks ago, we already have skinny asparagus poking through the mulch. Unexpected....... We planted in a fertile sandy soil, soaking the crowns overnight in water, then planting the crowns as instructed. Same result for both the millennium and purple varieties (planted in separate raised beds/areas)

Product was in great condition when it arrived. All 25 came up

The media could not be loaded.  Out of the 22 asparagus crowns that came. They all had healthy root systems. All 22 have sprouted. Some has had thick spears. I let them all fern out so next year, I will be able to harvest for a longer period since it will be 3 year old crowns by then. Very happy. I planted some in my flower beds that I use as a garden bed and some in the back yard. You do need supports to keep the ferns upright otherwise they fall to the ground as they get taller - can get 5 ft talk. I got a mixture of female and male plants. The females have flowers and the males don’t. As you can see from my video. Hand picked nursery has always had very good stock be it asparagus or strawberries. I bought strawberries in the last few years from them.

Seems like a mix or female and male. Some look good and strong and others came up puney and tiny. So not sure what to think yet. Went on michigan state university agriculture site for planting instructions as well as followed the ones it came with. Prob 3/4 came up and 1/2 are tiny and almost look like females. I had hoped the ones were all male. I ordered some jersey males from same company and rototilled a new spot and all those are up and strong so I will post later when it has longer to grow but so far I am undecided on the millennial but jersey knight have done well

Order came timely. When I opened package it looks fresh. I counted 14 large and 13 small crowns- small meaning they have less roots to them. The order comes with 25 crowns. I am not going to complain about it because they gave me a few extra so that kind of makes up for the size. They’re in fresh condition and a note inside tells you to log on to their website for planting details. There is also instruction that you must call them if you want to return. Will plant them this weekend and update my progress later.

Ordered 25 but got 27. Six were very small and didn't seem like they were 2yr crowns like the rest. 23 of 27 actually grew.

Asparagus roots arrived as promised, well wrapped and moist. I had questions about planting, called the 24 hr number and got the actual farmer. Couldn't have been nicer, and gave me all the info I needed. The plants are now 2 feet tall and ferning well.
