Electrostatic Air Filters will save you money
We just had the HVAC serviced for spring/summer, and of course the technician did his job well. He mentioned that the manufacturer of the HVAC has come out with an electrostatic air filter, but the cost was too much money for us. I checked on Amazon for the price of electrostatic air filters and found that they are much more affordable. There are several brands out there, but the reviews for the Trophy brand air filter were better than a few of the others. These electrostatic air filters do a better job of capturing dust, allergens and pet dander better than the paper type, really good for anyone who suffers from allergies. The filter is sturdy and slides in nicely without getting caught on the track. I bought two so that when it's time to wash the filter, we can put the other in without having to wait for the filter to dry.

No more throw-away expensive one-time usage A/C filters!
Some years ago our family discovered static electricity A/C filters that worked very well for our home, but was 'cleaned' by the use of a vacuum and was not washable. These filters were more expensive than the others that would eventually have to be replaced as well. We've recently relocated to a new home with multiple A/C filters which already was collecting enough contaminates that they should be replaced. The former home owners had replacements for each filter location (each of different dimensions) so we used the new, but not washable filters until they started getting noticeably dirty.Since we had used static electricity filters that worked very well multiple times, they also had to be simply discarded. We searched for static electrical A/C filters in our new area and discovered the Trophy Air Washable Electrostatic HVAC Air Filters that is advertised as 'lifetime'.After much investigating we were very impressed that you can purchase common sizes, but if you have a unique size, like our present A/C you can actually order by dimensions to fit the intake frame precisely! So far (a few weeks of usage) the filters are working well but has not been needing any attention as yet, but has apparently collected some debris exactly as they should.A little initial higher cost than the static electric filters made of paper/plastic, but after comparing the current cost of our new filters we realized you could have to buy about 4 disposable filters for the cost of just one washable/reinstall life time filter. Plus, you can order custom sizes if necessary - just once!Great product, sturdy construction of aluminum framing and perfect fitting.

Fits perfectly
Fits perfectly and works great. I also bought the recommended filter cleaner so the filter lasts forever. Good investment. I highly recommend it.

Great Value, But Requires Patience
The Washable Electrostatic HVAC Furnace Air Filter is a solid investment if you're looking to save money on replacements and help reduce your household's environmental footprint. The idea of a filter that lasts a lifetime and can be washed and reused is a big plus, and it does save money in the long run compared to constantly buying disposable filters. The six-stage filtration process seems to do a good job. It is sturdy and fits perfectly into the 20x20 area. It's thickness is about the same as a disposable filter. However, one thing to keep in mind is that after cleaning the filter, you do have to wait for it to dry thoroughly before reinserting it into your HVAC system. If it's not fully dry, dust and debris can stick to it, which could reduce its effectiveness. It’s a bit of a hassle, but not a dealbreaker as long as you plan ahead. As for dust collection, that’s really the key to how well this filter performs. It does an impressive job of trapping particles and preventing dust buildup in my home, but I was curious to see how much it would actually catch over time. After several cleanings, it seems to be doing its job. Just be patient with the drying process, and you’ll get solid results.Overall, I’m happy with the filter. It's a great value for the money, and the fact that it’s washable makes it a long-term solution for cleaner air and fewer trips to the store for replacements. Just make sure you allow enough time for it to dry properly after cleaning!

Catches dust, easy clean
I was a little sceptical at first, but it does filter some level of dust. See picture. The construction is sturdy. I don't have any doubts of it lasting a long time.I selected a size that was the same width, but longer than the furnace. That way part of the filter sticks out making it easier to insert and remove. The dirty section in the picture is after maybe 2 or 3 months. I forgot about it and lost track. The less dirty section has been cleaned once.I just spray it down in the shower. A lot more dust came out than I was expecting. Plain water leaves some dust stuck to it, but not enough to concern me at the moment. If it starts to build up, I'll use some kind of cleaning solution. One thing I really like is that there is a hole in the side of the frame at a couple corners. Makes draining the water out easier.I pop a disposable filter in while this one dries. Some day I might get around to opening up the furnace to see if there is any dust building inside. And I may modify the duct so I can put a disposable filter after this one to test how much gets past it. If it works I might even use this one as a pre filter to extend the life of a 6" media filter (to maintain higher airflow). So far, so good. I think my ductwork was undersized or poorly laid out, so this filter seems to take some load of the blower motor.

It traps the dust
I purchased this trophy air filter two months ago and it’s working great so far. It seems to trap the dust real well, has good quality materials, fits easily and easy to clean with hot tap water. I used a hair dryer to dry it quicker or you can buy a second one and let it air dry.
