AUDREY AT HER PEAK!
The first time I saw Audrey Hepburn was in BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S. I was thirteen and she made an indelible impression on me. She was just beautiful with an elfin charm, an effortless quality on the screen that has never been matched by any actress on screen since. It was also my first truly adult movie and Audrey represented this sophisticated, elegant, gorgeously dressed image unlike any other. CHARADE was next and I was hooked. I made it my mission to see every Audrey Hepburn film I could find and nearly 50 years later, she remains my absolute favorite movie star. When Audrey died, I was frankly surprised that she meant so much to so many and since then, her life has been the subject of numerous biographies, style and photo books, tributes, short stories, calendars, etc. Most cultural icons who die lived lives of addiction and excess. Think Elvis, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, and they died relatively young. Audrey was in her 60s, and decades beyond the glory years as a romantic screen ingenue, Except for the occasional small film appearance, Audrey was pretty much retired. She had become more famous as an international UN Embassador traveling worldwide to champion the cause of starving children. Yet she continued to fascinate, and her films on VHS and later on DVD continued to extend her legend. Her extraordinary timeless fashion appeal never went out of style--and is still emulated today. I've managed to accumulate a lot of books dedicated to Audrey's life and work, which now numbers over 20 volumes. Naturally, I had to have AUDREY: The 60s.Beginning with BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S, the book follows Audrey's ascent to superstardom through her final eight films of the decade, made in six short years. David Wills, a photo curator, editor and photographic preservationist, has gathered many new and familiar Hepburn images from her films, and from the Vogue fashion sessions she participated in. Richard Avedon, Bert Stern, Cecil Beaton, Douglas Kirkland, and many other great photographers capture that unique Audrey quality. Friends, colleagues, designers and others provide their own perspective on the Audrey they knew, and Audrey is also quoted from interviews she gave during this period. The iconic Givenchy fashion that helped cement her reputation, shares space here in the sumptuous period costumes of MY FAIR LADY and the ultra-modern swinging 60s costumes she wore in TWO FOR THE ROAD.This beautiful book, designed by Stephen Schmidt, is a must for Audrey collectors. Bound in Tiffany-blue buckram, and surrounded by a jacket photo of Audrey during a fashion shoot on the front and a classic BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S little black dress on the back, AUDREY; The 60 is the most stylish collection of Audrey photos we've had thus far.

"Audrey: The 60's" quite simply, is sheer perfection!
What a wonderful combination of subject and author once again! David Wills newest book, "Audrey: The 60's" is quite simply, sheer perfection. Masterfully designed by Stephen Schmidt, this volume has it all. There are simply not enough positive adjectives to describe the beautiful photographs that portray this lovely woman. They are each masterpieces in of themselves. It is easy to understand why David Wills adores Audrey Hepburn but he certainly is not alone. With numerous reflections by family, friends, photographers, designers and even Audrey herself, the text is as revealing as the loving care with which this book has been given. There is no question that painstaking research, superior photo reproduction and the highest level of achievement has been reached in this publication. If you are a fan of Ms. Hepburn, the 1960's, film or fashion, I highly recommend treating yourself to this magical edition. STYLE. BEAUTY. TIMELESS. ICONIC. Words that not only describe the woman but this fascinating book, that is "Audrey: The 60's." Thank you, David!

One of the 20th-Centuries great photographic beauties
I was a Hepburn fan long before we met at a screening of "The Mission" in Century City back in 1987. Even though I startled her, she was still gracious enough to listen to my pathetic little speech about how much I loved her films as a child growing up. To my utter surprise, she rewarded me with a gentle kiss on the cheek! "Audrey, The 60s" brings back some of those memories in one of the most beautiful collections of photographic images this side of the late Bob Willoughby. I must admit to having seen most of them at the movies or perusing the numerous editions of Life and Look magazine for which she posed. So to have them bound in one beautiful volume is a real treat. Unlike the movie business, which changed significantly since her last film, 1967's "Wait Until Dark," one thing hasn't: her beauty.

SPECTACULAR - from cover to cover!!
As an avid collector, film buff and fan, I feel completely confident in describing this book as among the best tributes to a glamorous film star and legend! David Wills previously did a phenomenal tribute book to Marilyn Monroe and this new work is equally tremendous. I don't think it would be possible for a fan of Audrey Hepburn to find fault with this book. The photographs are simply gorgeous, both black & white and full color. Some of the iconic images are well represented along with rare photos from sessions and interesting candids. Every aspect of Hepburn's beauty, charm, and elegance is wonderfully documented by the photos chosen for this book. Wills also has a unique quality as an author in that his text captures great detail about the subject and yet is concise and straightforward. He really hits the nail on the head with his perspective on the cultural impact of great beauties like Hepburn. He also includes quotes from many people who knew Hepburn both personally and professionally. The same is true of the Monroe book. You won't be disappointed. This is a book that will be treasured by film fans and Audrey Hepburn fans for years to come.

If you love Audrey Hepburn this book is a must!!!
This book is perfect for anybody who loves Audrey Hepburn as much as I do. Many of the photos are from such films as 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', 'The Children's Hour', 'My Fair Lady', 'Paris When it Sizzles' & many more of the movies Audrey made during the 60's. Some of the photos are really high definitioned & many are accompanied by quotes made about Audrey during her life or quotes from Audrey herself, which I think fits nicely with the book. This book has a few pages talking about each one of her movies too, but purely looking at the photos alone is enough in my opinion. If you love Audrey then this book is a must have!!!
