Love Me

I adored this movie full of subtle depth that was so beyond the formulas we are used to of sexual desire, pursuit, conquering and conflict. Instead, it surprises us showing us two people that are desiring things that are not directly sex, but they are brought together by the idea of having sex. He is a beautiful character, willing to connect to people he encounters with an open heart. Then we get to see how this draws out the true desires of the woman. It's a beautiful love story based on genuine connection and true desires that are deeper than lust for sex.**** spoilers here *****It starts off with a Turkisih engagement party where the groom to be is awkward and unenthused. He has been pushed into a bachelor weekend in Ukraine by his boorish friends and uncle. We see how easily he is willing to connect to people. A beautiful perfectly dresssed Ukrainian woman finds him in a club and invites him home. An unexpected adventure ensues and he is suddenly cast into her intimate family life, assisting with the grandmother with grace, care, chivalry and gentle attention without words. The beauty of the movie is the connnection created without the use of language (she spoke Ukrainian/Russian, and he spoke Turkish). They exchanged a few words in English to get by. Within 48 hours they had created a connection through cooperation, play, humor, food, touch and service. And isn't that what love is, action, not words? In the time they were togetherr she shed tears for the 3 biggest sorrows of her life sorrow and he was there loving her.She finally is willing to be held by this generous, caring, vulnerable man.His open-hearted innocent kindness opened her like she had never been opened before and she knew it was what she really wanted but there were too many obstacles for them to decide to stay together. But they grieved the loss. His softer heart was broken, with the only the snow of Kiev to hold his grief... his uncle and cousins were so disconnected from their hearts, they could not begin to understand him, and that made him hate them. He stiffened his upper lip and surrendered to his circumstances, perhaps swayed by the story of a failed relaionship shared by the Turkish kabab maker he met in Kiev.Some reviews have said there is not much to the story but there is so much here. A very rich story of vulnerability.

I selected this movie thinking that it would be a comedy or at least a happy ending because Amazon has is listed as a comedy. Although the movie was ok, the false labeling set me up for disappointment. Also some of the dialogue from the Turkish men was just degrading; did not paint them in a good light. The acting was good and sincere enough for the plot. Slow movie but if you have some time to burn and don't care about the outcome, it's decent to pass the time.

Wonderfully acted tale that pulled off that all too difficult task storytellers face-the fine line of blending romance and realism. If a movie leaves you aching the filmmakers, cast, and crew hit the mark, and that’s exactly what happened in Love Me. The ending hurt and as used to American films as I am, I expected a different outcome. I wanted a different outcome. This however was, sadly for us romantics, the realistic ending. Therefore the perfect one. Sasha did love Alexander which is why she went out in the first place, out of pain, and she was pregnant with his child to boot. Cemal was waiting for her - as was his personality. His gentleness was part of his charm but it also made him the guy who wouldn’t boldly chase after Sasha. They both had paths to follow, but the beauty is the love and connection they experienced in those moments together. Star-crossed lovers. Sad. Poignant. Beautiful. True. The acting is supreme. If you love Ushan Cakir go to Netflix and watch the series (based on a true love story) ‘Seyit and Sura’. One of my all time favorites that I had the good luck to come across by chance a few months ago. Cakir is a brilliant actor and easy on the eyes-as is the entire cast of Seyit and Sura. It’s absolute perfection! As for Love Me, I give it high marks which I believe are well deserved. I didn’t mention Viktoria Spesivtseva yet and she deserves mentioning. This is the first time I’ve seen her in anything and I must say she’s very talented and beautiful. Her eyes are pools of soul.

I watched 30 minutes of the mvie and I was done. The funniest part was a guy telling a joke on the bus, but the rest seemed like the plot was dragging on and on. Waste of time...

Great story. In response to another review, I doubt she was pregnant else why would she poke holes in a condom, hoping to get pregnant instead as she felt that was her only way out. A pregnant woman would not knowlingly pick up a foreigner to have sex with. Right?Great connection made, and what if she reached him at the airport in time?

This is an excellent film. Far better than I expected. I loved it and would highly recommend it. I do not want to describe any details as I would want others to see it and learn what it has to offer.
