So far so good
I eat 1/2 avocado a day, and it's about the only thing I use plastic wrap for in day-to-day stuff so I was looking for a way to stop using the plastic. I got this after reading reviews from a bunch of containers. You have take the pit out of the half being kept - but that's OK. This thing works! It's a bit fidgety opening & closing correctly, but nothing that makes it hard to use, I just line it up. I don't always eat the other half the next day. I think the longest I've gone so far is 3 days and the avocado was nicely preserved, it looked like it had only been in there a day. And if you eat them as much as I do, you'll know every avocado is different and how fast it will deteriorate depends on that mighty scale of ripeness it silently goes through. I've used this container for several avocados now and have no complaints. I don't know if the stretchy top can hold up to a dishwasher so I only put the base in and I handwash the top if I need. Heck that's always just going against avocado skin so I admit I haven't always washed the top, I just reuse it the next day. The other plus, because this requires taking the pit out and sits flat, I can actually chuck it anywhere in my fridge now instead of balancing a rounded half avocado on top of something.

Did a great job.
Placed a tomato in this about three weeks ago. I checked it today and the tomato was still good. There was a little bit of fungus on top of the tomato, a very little amount. That may be because I left the stem on the tomato. I cut it off, sliced some tomato for the sandwich, and it was fine.

WRONG PRODUCT (stretch-top, not screw-top) that does not work at ALL!!!!
The item I received was NOT the same as the one pictured or described-- what I got had a floppy, stretchy cover without a rigid outer ring but shaped like the lower base. At a glance, it seemed like the stretchable lid (in theory) would be elastic enough to stretch over an onion, and then the elastic wold hold itself closed by being taut against the lip of the slightly larger rigid base (like a rubber band), but this one did NOT have the screw-on ring top design holding the upper lid closed. The item I got was USELESS for anything other than a very specific exactly sized onion (anything too large or too small would not allow the top to seal evenly), and I think we all know that onions come in lots of various sizes and shapes. As a result, the stretchy "lid" never seals tightly enough around the edge of the rigid base, and left an open, non-air-tight gap between the elastic lid and the base (which means the onion will dry out or go bad quickly, AND it makes my fridge stink up like raw onions). TOTALLY useless. I threw it away after trying it once, and re-purchased the screw-lid storage that I ACTUALLY wanted from a brick-and-mortar store so I could be sure to get the right thing this time. DO NOT ORDER THIS if you are looking for a functional product, especially if you actually want the screw-ring version. What a rip-off.

Handy but hard to open
My sister in law swears by these, so I got two for avocados. Generally, I like them; two things to keep in mind: 1) the bigger avocados won’t fit until you cut about a third off and 2) the twisting to open doesn’t always work.

If you love avocados…get this little guy!
Where have you been all my life, little guy? YOU get the job done! No more Saran-Wrap-covered-halves-that-are-dark when I unravel them the next day! You’re really adorable, little guy, but you have some things to improve on. Don’t get me wrong, I love you but I also have no arthritis issue so I’m able to slide you open, & close. Arthritic-hands won’t have an easy time grasping you and sliding you apart! There’s no where on the outside that you can get a grip! You also are a bit delicate, aren’t you? If you don’t slide properly into your channels, my avocado will get dark. And I always have to remember not to slide a sharp knife in the soapy water with you. Don’t want to slice your thin membrane open! It’s true, compromising is a strong part in a relationship! Good thing I bought two of you because I can’t eat a whole avocado by myself, & you can’t hold two sides together, let alone one half with the pit! In any case, I’m so happy I found you!

Item received was not as advertised
The onion pod that they sent me did not resemble the one that was pictured on the website. Mine was a clear one that does not close securely over the union. I threw it away. I’m afraid to order another one in fear of getting the wrong one again. It It does not close securely over the onion . With that said, the avocado keeper was awesome!!
