Great addition
Bought this because it’s the best price I’ve seen in ages. Works great. Came with a set of brand new batteries, only complaint is that the original batteries were still inside and were corroded. Easily salvaged with a quick cleaning. Disassembled and reassembled quite easy. Very durable. Great addition for any who fan

A devlish toy in its own right
When I ordered the Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver for a friend, I found myself jealous enough to get my own screwdriver - the Master's laser version. An accurate reproduction of the device from the show, it's relatively well-built and quite fun for any Doctor (or Master) fan. While the Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver makes two subtly different sounds, the Master's Laser one has two easily distinguishable (and controllable) sounds - tap once for the higher-pitched laser noise, or hold down for the 'lazarus' noise. However, there are some downsides. Firstly, the Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver takes a little finesse (and a screwdriver) to remove the core and get to the batteries, but with the Master's, a gentle twist in the right way and the entire core just slides out - not too durable a construction, in my opinion, though it does make accessing the battery compartment easier. Secondly, when in the compact position, my Laser Screwdriver will randomly go off with light and incessant noise until the tip is extended. This is probably because when not extended, the core sits loosely in the handle piece, so the slightest shift will hit the tiny trigger button on the core. I recommend carefully storing it with the tip extended.Overall it's a fun toy and perfect for going up against the Doctor (or anyone armed with the Sonic Screwdriver). Just beware of it going off randomly in your pocket.

Honestly, who would use a sonic screwdriver when you could have a laser one??
First and foremost, I am completely satisfied with the product. The leds are nice and bright, both noises are loud and clear, the spring action is solid, and there's easy access to the battery pack.Several of my friends and I enjoy the Dr. Who franchise and a few of them have purchased Sonic screwdrivers as a result. I wanted to be a bit different and since I tend to like bad guys a little more than most, The Master's ominous Laser screwdriver seemed like the perfect fit. Alas, ThinkGeek has been out of stock on the item for a bit. A quick search brought up this little number though, and for a few dollars less than ThinkGeek.I've experienced no problems with the item, no battery, light or sound issues. I think someone mentioned an issue where the spring action stopped, which troubles me a bit, but so far no problems. I may look into installing a weaker spring if need be, but construction seems solid enough, even after a couple of short tumbles. Oh, the little gray ridged piece towards the bottom of the handle? It spins with a satisfying little click. Not sure if intended but it's nice to play with.

A detailed and unfortunate review regarding old toys
Arrived Quickly, Still factory sealed... Unfortunately this toy was from 2007, and the Character Options Company (The Makers of the toy) made the brilliant decision to sell the Screwdrivers "Battery IN". Ultimately I opened a laser screwdriver that I had to carefully DEFUSE. The Original batteries had swollen inside the screwdriver bending the cheap Chinese plastic and cracking some of the battery housing. After defusing the screwdriver from its 3 button cell bombs, I installed new batteries and... No lights - No sound. It was busted. Unfortunate but at least the spring loaded extension feature still worked. Also the gold ring around the head basically just slid off to reveal a compartment where the speaker was located, the glue didn't look as though it successfully adhered to the two plastic surfaces. Additionally, even if this had been brand new when it was just released the quality of the plastic on this particular screwdriver seems very Sub-par. I knew it was a long shot getting a functioning screwdriver after so long and if I had the price would maybe have been worth it... but it didn't so it wasn't.

Awesome, but kinda flimsily constructed
Flipping awesome replica (ie looks just like the real prop, but plastic) however it's made of weak plastic, and some of the seems are a little gapped, but all and all I am very happy with it, especially for the price. I recommend it for any Doctor Who Fan-boys/girls out there with 25 bucks even if you don't like The Master. also it uses the actual Master's Laser sounds instead of the ;David Tennant's Sonic sounds that are used for the 3rd and 4th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver toys.update the bottom part came off and it needed to be glued back together Very precisely, if it is even a millimeter off pressing the button wont extend it or play the sounds, that a bit of a design flaw but after much time setting it just right it works great now, but be careful with small gap near the bottom of the silver part of the handle thats where it came apart for me and aways extend it before putting it away, because closing it not only puts pressure on the weak parts but it also opens randomly in the middle of the night, which can be frightening while going to sleep or reading in silence

Buyer beware
Though the screwdriver is pleasing to the eye the rest of it's construction is shoddy. After taking it out of the package I found that all the batteries included were dead. After taking a set out of another screwdriver this one did actually work however the sound is so low as to be barely audible. The spring is super sensitive and goes off on it's own. The sounds are seriously too short and the button to activate them flimsier than some plotlines. I was looking forward to this but have found nothing but disappointmen.
