Major design flaw and I hope the manufacture notices
Update: After a 140-mile bike tour over 3 days from Brooklyn to Doylestown PA in the extreme heat on Friday, the huge downpouring rain on Saturday, and the light rain on Sunday, my bag contents were dry. I carried about 12lbs per bag using the Ibera bike rack.My gear+ Lightweight camping blanket+ Lightweight sleeping pad with foot pump and pillow built-in+ bike multitool and torque wrench, brake bleed kit+ a waterproof dry box with my Anker battery, wrenches, money, USB wires, batteries for 2nd camera, etc+ GoPro9 box with batteries, attachments, stick, and selfie stick+ mirrorless camera, lens+ toiletries+ 2 cans of refried beans and 2 packages of tortilla+ a change of Saturday clothes, Sunday clothes, sleeping clothes, extra socks, rain jacketI could have put a few more things but I didn't need to. This had ample room in the bags and they held up very nicely. I would recommend them as of today. I will update over time.OriginalFirst off - The bag is really nice. I like the quick-release mounts. The bags can hold multiple items from a small sleeping bag, air mattress, and still have room for additional items. They have small triangle reflective fabric to help with visibility. The major design flaw is once you put the rain covers on the bags to protect the contents, there is NO REFLECTIVE fabric or colorful fabric to say "Hey - I'm out here in the rain or night, please don't hit me."

I like these better than my Ortlieb rollers.
Love these panniers. Taken them on several trips now, all with rain (steady rain for at least a day) and no issues. Rain covers are easy and fast to slip on and keep them dry.I like the drawstring top with flap better than the roller design, simply because it's more convenient. Extremely easy to stick everything you won't need access in, close the string, then put something like a jacket or rain poncho on top and close the flap over it. Excellent quality, and solid attachment to the rack. These bags also hold a ton of stuff. Too much, I usually fill them, then remove a bunch so I don't pack too heavy. I wish Ibera made a smaller front version, until then I'll have to keep using the small Ortliebs for up front.Update - I've had these Ibera panniers for a number of years now, and love them just as much as when I first bought them. I've built up a new off road/gravel touring bike and transferred them over along with a new front set of Tailfin bags that hold my food. These bags still look new, despite having taken many many trips and thousands of miles travelled with who knows how much rain. They are slowly filling up with patches of all the places they have visited.

These are excellent paniers... probably the very best of any of the choice on Amazon when I bought them.
I love love love these paniers - easy easy easy on and off the rack and they stay secure, my heel does not hit them as I ride, roomy, have ridden 1/2 hour through heavy rain without using the rain covers and they stayed completely dry inside, however I have read that on longer rain exposure water does get inside. The nice rigid back sides keep bulky contents from ever getting anywhere near the spokes. Easy to carry by the handles. The paniers themselves seem to be as light weight as they could possibly be without sacrificing the requisite strength. These are worth every penny. My only "complaint" ... the lids have elastic at the corners near the hinge which provide a nice snug fit. However, this always gets caught as you close the lid and so you have to use two hands to get the elastic parts over the bag part... can't just flap it down in one fell swoop. Also, the little latches either side to secure the lids, kinda annoying the way the fork doesn't just slide right into the slot... you have to give it a lot of attention. Ha... not something I can't live with. Both these annoying features (elastic, latches) probably gain a little extra sturdiness from the annoyingness. Also, keep in mind that there is not a lot of flexibility/room in the zip pockets in the lids... you might slip a paperback or a kindle in there with some work, but they are going to squish down on squishy stuff (eg, a sandwich).

Great bags, I would get them again.
These are great. Have had them about two months now. I used one to commute to school with all my books and whatnot in there and it held up just fine. I used them both on a two-day bikepacking trip on a dirt trail and the despite the outside being completely covered in dust and a little mud, the contents was clean. It drizzled a bit on us, light enough so that I didn't put the rain covers on and nothing inside was wet. The quick releases are great. I was able to adjust them so that they don't slide back and forth at all while riding and they are a breeze to clip on and off, full or empty. The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is the capacity. These are the largest panniers that Ibera offers and they're just a tad small for me. I use them with this rack: Ibera PakRak Bicycle Touring Carrier Plus+ IB-RA5 (with disk brake mounts) Frame-mounted for heavier top & side loads (bag not included)Pros: Quick release mounts, constructionCons: A bit on the small side
