Used with Composting Toilet
I have a small, off grid cabin with a Nature's Head composting toilet. The toilet came with a battery/ac adapter operated fan. Since the cabin does not have electricity, I mounted this to the outside of the cabin covering the toilet vent. It's been installed for about a month and a half and works perfectly. It is completely silent which can be concerning when I want to make sure it still works. I have to pull the hose off and feel for the air flow. So far, so good. There is no odor from the toilet, particularly during the day while the fan is running. It does not seem to store energy to continue running at night. So I do keep a battery on hand in case we need it. I was worried about this being so much less expensive than other solar fans, but I am very pleased with our off-grid solution so far.

Worked continuously 4 years in Florida sun and weather
Mounted to the exterior of a vented opening in the gable of a shed. Worked continuously for 4 years in the Florida sun and weather. In the end, the housing basically crumbled due to exposure (UV?). Interestingly, the fan was still spinning when I removed it and replaced it with the same model.

Water and ELECTRICITY don't mix well ;.l
I purchased this fan in 2016, finally installed earlier this year june, 2019. Only because I forgot all about it until I ran across it sitting in my garage cupboard . It worked at first, but soon after it rained for the first time it came to a screeching halt !!! Well, maybe not screeching...... but it died. I finally had a chance to get it off the roof and this is what I found. The solar panel and motor aren't sealed against rain, it's just held on with a few dabs of silicone so nothing to keep water from getting into the ELECTRIC motor. I can't image it would have been any more difficult to make a ring with that silicone in order to seal the motor against water intrusion. Buyer beware, the first time it rains you can bet your fan is pushing up daisies . The pics show the solar panel which was just sitting on top of the unit when I started to remove it. Shows the silicone blobs in second pic which do absolutely nothing to keep water out, and third shows my wet, rusty, complety seized ELECTRIC motor . Now I get to figure something else out. This sux ! 2023 addition; anyone that wants this fan to work longer than the next rain storm should pry the solar panel off the top ( will come off really easily) clean out the silicone blobs under the solar panel and then re-caulk the entire area under the panel in order to keep water from getting into the fan motor. Look at my pics, 3 blobs of silicone don't keep the water out !! Good luck.

So far so good
Installation was pretty straight forward. I had to cut my vent pipe down a little. To be expected. After reading all the negative reviews about the life expectancy of the fan I expected it to not last that long anyway. It is pretty quiet though. Every once in awhile I can hear it working which is kind of nice because otherwise how would I know? After reading all those reviews though, I'm surprised that it's still working after a few months.I did notice right away that it needs direct sunlight to work, but that could actually be considered kind of a good thing because the more the motor runs, the more it wears out, right?Honestly, the more research I've done, I think the next one I'll buy will be the "360 siphon". Mostly because that is all science, no moving parts, and works all the time as long as there's at least a slight breeze. However, back to this: So far so good. It does draw air up and out, and I know it's still running after a couple of months. I wonder how this coming Minnesota winter is going to treat it?

Works smoothly

Noisy one and a good one.
Did not expect one of the two I purchased to be this noisy. Cannot take it off and leave roof open to return. So I will have to buy another one if this stays this noisy. It is just a defective one.. The other one I got works perfectly and is quiet.

It is kept there by spring tension and can be easily pulled off (by your fingers) the pin
Works as advertised. Some people complained of noise from fan, however, it is a simple and quick fix if this happens to you. The fan (blade piece) is attached to a small thin bar or pin inside the housing. It is kept there by spring tension and can be easily pulled off (by your fingers) the pin. In the case of noise, it is pushed too closely to or up against the housing. This causes a rubbing sound. The fix, just back the fan blade piece off from the contact area by a millimeter or two.

Multi-vent uses
Not just for plumbing 😀 I purchased this solar vent to install on the roof of my enclosed 6' x 12' utility trailer - Works great! - Not fast but steady - vents excess heat out - Would probably work good for venting a utility shed etc.. 5 Stars

Item Fails and so does the Warranty
Bought in March, Item failed within 3 months of installation, contacted company and they said they would send out a replacement when they got a shipment in October. They sent it out via UPS which wanted to collect over $28 in duty so I refused shipment and contacted company. A warranty replacement that I bought in Canada from Amazon Canada should not require duty equal to half the cost of the product. Although the company was good to get back to me right away when I first had the problem they now won't reply to my emails asking for a solution to the problem. I guess I'm stuck with a dead product with a one year warranty that is useless. DO NOT BUY, the product is poorly designed and leaks into the motor so it seizes up and dies and the one year warranty is useless if you can't get it replaced for free.
