Fun instrument at a geat price
For the price this is a very fun instrument, it sounds good and plays well. It is definitely not a high end instrument but the price should be a sign of that. But it is five stars for a 150 dollar bass and does not feel or sound cheap. I wanted something to play around with without the hassle of my big amp and cabinet. Without amplification it is audible in a quiet to conversation noise level room. I have not plugged mine in yet and have had fun noodling while sitting on the couch which is exactly what I was looking for out of it. If you want a ukulele bass but don't want to commit the cash to a higher end one this is a great instrument that won't disappoint. It is a great size for an elementary school aged kid who might want to start as a bass player and as a parent is something I'd consider as a gift for a new or future bass player too.Lastly the seller, Rondo Music , is top notch. My bass arrived with a cracked neck and they very quickly processed an exchange with no hassle and friendly communication. these are so cheap and fun I plan on buying a fretless version as well.

Great intro to the bass
I've been buying from Amazon for something approaching 20 years now. But I think this might be my first review.I just had to write a review of this very cool little instrument. About four years ago I bought a full-scale electric bass because I wanted to learn to play. It didn't go well... mainly because I just couldn't get my fingers to span those huge frets. ("All the money is below the fifth fret," my instructor said.) I mean, it was physically painful to play.I've had my Hadean for about a week now, and I've already played it more in that week than I played the full-scale bass in the last year. For a beginner like me, the small scale lets me work on getting the notes right, not on stretching my fingers to the point of soreness.Okay, it feels a little fragile... but come on, it was $140! For $140, this is an amazing bargain. I usually play it as an acoustic, just to practice... it has a fun, powerful sound. Hooking it up to the practice amp makes it sound big and crisp. I love the versatility! I can practice any time, without bothering anyone... I leave this little uke in the corner of my living room, and it takes up no space at all.The built-in tuner is cool, and the preamp is much higher quality than I was expecting. It arrived in a set of nested boxes and was nicely packed. It was shipped just a few hours after I placed the order.I'm sure I'll buy a higher-end u-bass at some point... but for now, this little guy is just perfect for me. Nice work, Hadean!

Bang for your buck
Great sound on the higher strings, excellent quality for the price. The lowest notes don't come through very well, but overall it is fun to play and easy to bring along with me.

Quality product, loads of fun, handy for jams, trips.
I've owed this for several months and I concur with all of the other positive reviews. At less than half the cost of other similar basses, this Hadean Uke UKB-22NM is a real treat! You can practice on your own with it acoustically, but I plug it in a small bass amp (I use the new Fender Rumble 40) when we do jams around the living room. I have used it on a few songs on stage, with my bigger equipment equipment, no problem.Concerning tuning, there is a period in getting the strings settled at first and then occasionally having to manually lift them up at the nut and adjust/free them after a few turns of the tuner peg. It seems they get a bit stuck/pinched in the nut sometimes. Perhaps a lubricant of some sort would help. Speaking of lubricant, I have used Finger Ease on these strings with no problem, as I do with my regular basses. I love this bass in that I can easily pack it on trips, plus it's just handy to have around the house. The workmanship is really great. The only fuss I had was locating a case that fits this Hadean. After returning two cases to different two vendors, I found the one pictured here that fits. You'll notice that the tuners just squeak in and the rest of the instrument fits nice and snug. It is the Guitar Center Baritone Ukulele Case Black, Item #1274115039662. Hope this helps - have fun!

Superb customer service, charming Uke with big bass sound (amped)
First off- I'm giving Rondo music a 5 star rating here for excellent customer service. When I unpacked the Ubass I found everything is excellent condition (if a bit dusty, cleans off easy with moist cloth). The sound was good to start- pleasant 'plumby' sound reminiscent of a full-size bass. Loud enough to practice without amp, but not enough for unplugged jam session with accompanying instruments.I had heard stories of issues breaking in the strings for Ubasses in general, and the Thunderguts in specific, so I dutifully put in a good 5-6 hours or more before expecting good intonation. However, even that amount of time was insufficient to get the 'E' string (lowest and largest string) to stabilize. I was figuring perhaps it was just a bad string- as the rest of the instrument settled in rapidly with good intonation on the 'A', 'D', and 'G' strings. I contacted the seller and they immediately sent a replacement 'E' string free of charge. While I have yet to replace the E string and see if this one works better I do want to say many thanks to Rondo Music for such quick customer service.I will follow up with more reviews later as I settle in to playing this for some gigs.

bad fret job, and cheap tuners.
quality control is not very high. from the other reviews, i was hoping for better, but when i received the ubass, some frets were not hammered in all the way, and are lifted off the fretboard, causing a number of dead notes, and lots of buzzing. the tuners are really cheap and the gears are partially stripped. it plays okay in the lower frets, but cannot be played in the middle or upper positions. i will have to take it to the guitar shop to have work done on it to make it at all useable. i'm pretty dissapointed overall. i think i should have ponyed up the extra cash, and bought the kala ubass instead.
