Fascinating plant but you MUST read up on how to care for it
These are healthy plants and arrived relatively well packed and undamaged and they have flourished in the short time I’ve had them…..HOWEVER you must know how to keep these plants in order to keep them alive.Never water them with tap or bottled water. Only use rain water or distilled waterDO NOT repot them in regular soil the minerals in it will kill them pretty quickly, use a soil that has ZERO minerals - you can get carnivorous plant soil here on Amazon or make your own (google it)Regularly mist them either with a hand spray bottle or have a dehumidifier close byDon’t use clay, metal or unglazed ceramic pots the minerals will leech into the soil and kill the roots. The preferable pot to use is plastic with drainage holes.Don’t allow the soil to dry out it’s best to keep the pots in a 1-2cm water bath - the soil should be moist at all times but not overly saturatedThese plants need a lot of light but not direct sunlight. They need preferably 12-14 hours per day of indirect sunlight.Do not activate the traps by hand (the traps will die off) or feed them human food - they catch their own food perfectly well and can go for quite long periods without catching insects, if you REALLY feel the need to lightly fertilise them - then look up online how to do this because you can easily kill them if you don’t know what you’re doing. Best to just NOT fertilise them.Avoid keeping them in a terrarium these plants like decent air flow and well drained moist soil - they don’t do so well in a closed environmentKeep them in a warmish to cool place but not too hot or too cold.In the winter they go dormant, blacken and die off, this is normal and they need this dormancy period to thrive so don’t try to artificially avoid it - when this starts to happen put them in a cool dark place like the shed and bring them back out in spring and they should hopefully regrow. I’m not entirely sure what maintenance if any is required during the dormancy period but look it up before you get to that stage. This is the first time I have successfully kept Venus fly traps without them immediately dying and this is because I took the time to research the above and provide them with optimum conditions.I use distilled water to water and mist them, they are in a plastic lined metal pot and planted in specialist carnivorous soil purchased on Amazon - but you can easily mix up your own just google it. I have them on a window sill but it doesn’t get much light at all so I purchased an inexpensive LED clip on grow light which I keep on for around 12 hours per day and they are LOVING it, so many new traps have grown since I started using the light before the light they were just surviving now they are positively thriving. As my plants are in an undrained pot (not recommended) I use a self watering glass bulb and a moisture detection stick to make sure the soil stays moist and that I can see at a glance that it’s still moist. I mist them daily and water them when the top of the soil starts to EVER so slightly dry out. Hopefully they will carry on growing and flourishing… I may update at a later date. Good Luck!Edited to add: still going strong! The last photo I just took today. They seem to be getting a bit leggy though I’m not sure why as I’m sure they are getting enough light. Maybe it’s just because they are getting a bit crowded in the pot or maybe the clip on light doesn’t have strong enough UV rays?

Plant has died, wasn't healthy on arrival
Hello. Plant arrived and looked half dead (first photo), 2 weeks later plant has died (2nd photo). We did all we could following the guidelines on product description, we even put a live fly in one of its "mouths" and it never closed.

Prompt delivery
Prompt dispatch and a healthy plant. Winter months are not always the best to buy these plants, however it came in a large plastic bag which I cut the bottom off to create a mini greenhosue for the window sill. It is flourishing. Delighted.

Small but could be more deadly
Littler than expected but a nice plant nonetheless - have seen it in action a couple of times but as a general rule the flies avoid it so more for decoration than anything else.
