Singing Machine SML385BTBK Karaoke System with LED Disco Lights, CD+G, and Microphone, Black

For the price, This is a nice little karaoke machine. I actually bought it for my grandchildren so my requirements are probably not the same as for, say, an adult party, but when I pulled it out of the box and tried it out I realized it would work very well for adults, too. (And the adults have taken over the unit once or twice!) There's a CD player on top that will play CDs or CD-Gs. The unit comes with the cords necessary if you want to plug the unit into your TV and get the words on the screen for your CD-Gs. I haven't tried this function yet, mostly because the first CD-G I bought for the grandchildren was Frozen, and they know all the words to every song. There have been moments when I regret that CD purchase--if I hear Let it Go one more time I may put my head through the wall. You can adjust mic volume and echo in addition to the regular volume. The sound is great for such a small box. The front of the unit flashes with multi-colored lights. It comes with one microphone so if you're looking to have more than one singer or sing duets, you might want to pick up another one. It's a nice solid unit, not like some of the kids' players I've seen, and I expect to be able to use it with my little singers for many years to come. One of the best features is there is a place to plug in your AUX--your phone or tablet--so you can play virtually all your own music. You will need to buy the cord that connects the AUX to the unit, but for little ones who want to sing "What Does the Fox Say," it's perfect.

This was much better than expected. Usually these things are super cheap and break out of the box. ut the Singing Machine SML-385 is solid and fun to use. My family and I jam out all the time using this thing. We have even taken it to people houses for parties and sang the night away.It will come with 1 mic and a demo CD which is nice. It lights up and looks really nice. The Karaoke machine has enough volume output to be loud enough for casual parties. It is simple to use and gives the user options to tweak sound as well giving it more of a professional feel.This is an enthusiast level machine though. Definitely not pro quality.

There is nothing wrong with this product, it works just fine. The people complaining about it must not realize that the laser inside a CD/DVD player can get knocked out of alignment very easily. So when you read something like "This product is crap! I bought it for my 4-year-old, and it quit working 2 weeks later, waaaahhhhhhh!", now you know why. Most of these people that are crying about this product appear to have bought it for children. And of course, Mommy's Special Little Guy/Daddy's Little Princess would NEVER break their own toy, so the product must be crap, right? Right? No. Your brat broke the toy, dummy, and now you're out 50 bucks.I wouldn't buy one from this vendor, though. The one I bought was broken right out of the box, I didn't have time to return it and order another, so I bought one off the shelf at a real-world store. Great product, my granddaughter LOVED it! Hers lasted almost a year before her 2-year-old brother got ahold of it.If your kids are little heathens like my grandkids, you might want to get them something else.If you have well-mannered, genteel children, then it makes a great gift.If you plan on waiting until the kids are asleep, gettin' hammered with the ol' lady, and belting out old Zeppelin songs at the top of your lungs until the cops show up on the porch...well, I wouldn't know anything about that!

I was a little hesitant about buying equipment from an electronics brand that only makes karaoke machines, but I'm glad I did. It works great and my 7 year old daughter really enjoys the flashing lights and easy to use controls. I wish it actually played MP3 CDs or had an aux input for a MP3 player, but I'm still glad I purchased this particular model. You can play your own CDs on it and just sing along - there is an adjustment so the machine will try to lower the vocal track when you are singing, but there is nothing that shows up on the TV when you do this (I was hoping for at least some type of party background with animation etc). It's also very lightweight and not too big. Make sure to purchase a second microphone if you think more than one person will want to sing at the same time.

Purchased for a child...big mistake!!! Even with supervision it broke!!! The kids still play with it because they love the bright lights and I'll admit that it does LOOK nice. It hooked up to the tv nicely and everything functioned like it was supposed to. The workmanship just isn't the best quality. If buying for a child, just pony up the extra cash and get a more durable, 'made for kids' machine or you'll be wasting you money.

The machine itself is a great buy for the money, had a tremendous amount of difficulty trying to get lyrics on the TV. The secret is to program the remoteto Video one. The TV usually plays on Video 5, and DVD on video 4, The way to do this is too find the options within the programing menu, search for the external input. Program video 1 or video 2, that will be the channel you will select to find the lyrics. Our TV remote, a sony, has "WEGA GATE" which was how we accessed the video channels. GOOD LUCK, oh, by the way, the trouble shooting service although you can only e-mail, at the very bottom of the web page, click on contact us, was actually better than I thought it would be

I bought this because my daughter wants to be a rockstar. Found her in her room rocking out with a crown on her head. Product working well so far but that alone was worth the money.

Well this is my first buy for a karaoke machine so I don't know all the ins and outs, which is why I went cheap. I was kind of disappointed that the line in function doesn't show text on the TV if I want to play karaoke songs from my laptop or YouTube, but I found a work around. I looked at a another player someone else has which is twice the size but the only real difference was their player has 2 tape decks. Over all I think it's a good machine. Product knowledge is important when looking to buy.
