GownTown Women Splicing Swing Dress Party Picnic Cocktail Dress

I am 5'5" and am 190 lbs. It fits perfectly in the XXL. The material is very stretchy. I bought it to just have a fun dress to wear and it definitely fits the bill. I will buy from this company again.

If I had gotten the dress in the picture, I'm sure I'd have liked it much better. The dress was the red and white checker with a white collar. I have at least 10 other dresses that I purchased in this 50s style, so I did not expect the color to be so off. It was a maraschino cherry red, not a brick red like I expected. My husband actually loves my taste in dresses, and he did not hesitate when he saw it in the package that it was "awful". It is not at all good for "any occasion", but could definitely be used for a costume or theme party; I don't think I could wear it in my elementary school without kids gawking at me. The fabric was the same quality as the other dresses - a slightly heavy stretchy material, so the fit was fine. The buttons and the collar looked really cheap, especially in light of the color. It was so bright, it was close to pink. I've gotten other GownTown dresses that I love, so it seems you just have to take one dress at a time. If there are other lots of this dress, perhaps in dark blue or that brick red I'm longing for, I might have liked it more than I expected.

LOVE THIS DRESS...I'm not sure what the material is but it's very unique. It's extremely stretchy so no matter how big or small you are it's going to fit. I just wore it to church yesterday and the compliments were never-ending! The only Improvement I would suggest is some sort of yarn or string around the waist to keep the belt in place. Other than that, I would love to see a tag with care instructions because I don't know what material it is I've never dealt with it before and don't know how to clean it but I love this dress!

I'm 5'3" and 250 lbs but I ordered a medium and it fits perfectly. I sewed the zipper closed because it popped open when I pulled it on (it's very stretchy so there's no problem doing that) and also the front where the buttons are because my bust is a bit too big and the buttons were... puckering? I think is the word? Anyway, what I really love is it's nice and tight in the waist without being uncomfortable so I can actually wear it without a bra if I need to (like on a really really hot day) and, in conjunction with that, the sleeves are much longer than they seem from the photos, so I don't have to wear a sweater or shirt to hide my arms (about which I am very self conscious). This dress will be so great when it gets hot here in NYC. The material is a little plasticky but it has the right amount of stretch and structure so it's really very flattering. In the photo I'm wearing it with a crinoline from which I removed the inner sheath and one tier of taffeta.

I really enjoyed this dress. It hugged me in all the right places. The material stretches and moves with you. I noticed no problems with the stitching or otherwise make of the dress.

This is the first GownTown I haven't been head over heels about. The color is dull when they are usually deep, rich colors. Also the hem isn't well done. I can totally live with all that though because I feel like a living Lucy doll when I put it on.

I am sad. I loved this dress, its perfect fifties style for me and was so excited when I ordered it. On the listed size chart the XL measurements are mine exactly, but I figured I would be safe and order the XXL. The front pulled apart so there was extreme gapping and the sleeves were really tight on my upper arms. If it had fit I would have gladdly looked past the odd stretchy, non breathable material. I would have worn it as a winter dress. The construction was fine, the length was fine, it fit in the waist, the top and sleeves were just too small. I had about twenty five of these dresses in my wish list. I ordered this one and one other and have to return both. I guess if its to good to be true........
