This is a great bow for hobby or learning about archery. Achery is a fun fitness activity and gets one outdoors. The bow is well built and seems to need little adjustment when it arrived. It does feel more like a recurve bow to shoot. There is no letoff, but the draw is light compared to how the arrows hit. So obviously the pulleys are adding tension. What I did to test this is to shoot a recurve with a draw weight of 30 lb. My test involved measuring arrow penetration in a target by shooting the bows from the distance. I think this is a realistic idea of "hitting power". This bow claimed a 20 lb draw, but the arrows penetrated up to two inches better that the 30 lb recurve. The bow is obviously not heavy enough for hunting big animals, but it is light and fun to shoot.

Bought this bow for my 11 year old last Christmas and he loves it! Of course he doesn't shoot it nearly as much as he did immediately after getting it...isn't that the way it always goes? The bow seems well made, but you'll want to also invest in a generic sight for better aim results. The bow is VERY adjustable in strength from very little up to about 25 pounds as I recall...just a few even turns of the Allen screws on the bow limbs. Maximum effective range was about 100 feet and expect to hit a target....no more!! It will lauch an arrow at 45 degrees for 400 to 500 feet, but that's a lob. This is a very good entry level bow and I have no real complaints to gripe about. Pay attention to left and right hand! That means which hand the shooter is dominant with! And also pay attention to the colors...there were several colors and I did accidentally get the wrong color the first time. Amazon did have the very best price for this bow at that time. Don't forget to buy more arrows and a good archery target!

We got my daughter this bow for Christmas. It is light weight to handle and the draw is perfect for her, 13 year old. We had her take a beginning archery class to learn good habits from the start. The class had about 2 dozen people in it that ranged in age from 6-42. Everyone in the class used the genesis bow and after an hour of instruction, all shot very well. This bow is a great equalizer, kids can shoot as good or better than adults on the same field. The product is meant to be shot straight out of the box, no tuning necessary. No add ons necessary either, can't have any in the NASP competitions anyway. Great starter bow, builds kids confidence immediately. My daughter is hooked on archery now. I saw many adults shooting this bow with great results. I don't see a need for any other bow unless you are hunter. What a great instrument!

This bow is perfect for my 9 year old daughter! She got it for Christmas (thanks for shipping a replacement one so quickly as the first arrived damaged) and was able to go out and start shooting immediately! The bow was accurate and set where she could start shooting right away. I love that Genesis makes an affordable bow for left handed people. I also love that this bow will grow with her. She and I were both able to take turns shooting her bow while teaching her how to properly stand, aim, and fire. Great bow! Thank you Genesis for making such a great bow at such a great price!

Very good well built bow! Super smooth shooting. We bought this bow to set up for Bowfishing for my 8yr old son and he loves it and is something he can grow with. I couldn’t believe the quality of this thing. My only complaint is that the paint-coating is thick and in every screw hole. When installing the Bowfishing reel and rest I had to run a tap down the threads to clean them out and be able to get the screws started. Since I had all the tools it was minor to me but be major to someone else. Overall I gave this bow 5 stars because we now own 10 bows in my household and this one of the smoothest drawing and shooting bows we have now.

Genesis bow is the only bow used by the various schools for their archery class. It is sponsored by Mathewes Bows. I purchased this bow for the granddaughter for her personal bow, rather than using a school bow that may shoot different each time itis picked up.

Genesis is a well known bow maker and this bow is another quality product of theirs. My child is in high school and this was the recommended bow. I believe this is also the bow used for junior state championships. The workmanship is great and there is nothing negative to say about this bow except that is on the expensive side.

This was a good starter bow for our DD. She loved the pink and it was wonderful we could get as a left handed version for such a great price. The bow was super sturdy, had enough power for her needs as a beginner and when it was time to resell we got almost the full value for it used. Had a few difficulties getting help at bow shops to adjust for her- but otherwise it was a perfect piece of equipment.

We use this bow for the NASP program. It is extremely easy to use and a great bow to learn on.

nice little bow -- bought as a gift -- arrived super quickly -- couple dark dings on the grips, but overall very happy with it -- and the price I paid was a steal -- going to have a very happy girl on my hands this Christmas :)
