Worth the money!!
I cook daily from scratch but got tired of the heat in the kitchen from cooking meals and making bread especially on 40 degree weather days. I also grew tired of being in the middle of cooking and all of a sudden having an unexplained power outage in the middle of the day and being stranded because i was in the middle of roasting or baking, and then wasting propane in the bbq. I bought this because im genuinely interested in solar cooking and tired of paying the hydro man. This oven works absolutely awesome. I didnt follow anyone recipes i just cut down on the amount of water or moisture that normally would be put into something because when it slow cooks the natural juices are abundant and makes everything taste amazing. First night i threw a pork roast and potatoes in a 13 inch roaster and it cooked to perfection, the meat fell apart snd the potatoes turned out golden. Next day i threw in veggie chilli, and also baked strawberry cobbler. Each time i cooked the oven got up to 360 degrees F and allowed my cobbler to turned golden brown on top.The oven will hold at about 300 when a cloud hits it as long as theres 20 mins of sun an hour your meal will cook fine. When you first get the item put a pie pan in it and let the oven boil vinegar in it until it steams the whole chamber for at least an hour. Wipe it out and youre good to go, no smells and no plastic tasting food. All i could smell was my food when it was cooking out on my deck which was great because my kitchen was kept cool and clean :) you may need to adjust the door clasps when you recieve it to loosen them up so they clasp the glass door and keep it sealed but that wasnt a big deal. The adjuster leg in the back is great because it allows you to keep the oven aligned with the sun which maintains the heat or makes it hotter. No it does not scorch your food whether you are baking or roasting. If you are roasting in a 13 inch roast pan u have to make sure its sitting on one of the racks provided in your package so the air can get under the roaster and also turn the roaster to fit diagonally due to the handles on the roaster itself which doesnt make any difference or change the outcome of cooking. I am having a blast and best of all its low maitenance and can assist you in emergencies. I have never had any experience solar cooking, just dive in and have fun. The appliance is lightweight to so you can take it with you wherever. It will cook while youre doing other things. The emergency preparedness package is nice because it comes with everything but it uses pots such as graniteware that you would use for camping very efficiently so if you have all of that then the only thing you need is baking racks ( small) to sit inside the oven to put your pots and bakeware on. It comes with a water purifier to but if your not worried about that or getting all the baking racks, the stacking pot and have your own save yourself some money and just order the oven itself. Ive been also successfully cooking with cast iron but it takes longer to heat up. I have been also using dark bakeware such as bakers secret or wilton as the dark bakeware cooks phenomenal in it. PS the leveling rack is super convinient because as u change the height or move the solar oven in any way the rack adjusts with the tilt of the oven which means no spills!!!!

Zombie Apocalypse? No Problem.
You know it's coming. Those zombies will be all over the place and after a long day of shooting and surviving, what's the one thing that can make it all better? Fresh-baked cookies out of your solar oven. I've done ginger snaps and oatmeal and they're both delicious and easy. If you're serious about survivalism, this should be in your arsenal. Sure you can risk going out and getting bitten by zombies as you collect firewood, but why not use something that doesn't require fuel nor electricity? And before the zombie apocalypse, this little gem of an oven will brighten your life. Want cookies but don't want to heat up the house during the scorching summer? Try the solar oven. I've also boiled pasta, baked bread, and baked delicious garlic knot rolls. For cookies, you can stack the racks 3 high, but they just don't cook as well underneath. For the heat loss that can occur when you open the door, I recommend one rack at a time. It gets done much faster. For me the time different was maybe 5 minutes more than a conventional oven at most.Pasta took a long time, but I didn't let the water boil before dumping it in. On baking bread, you may have to wipe the glass door free of moisture occasionally, as the steam will cause a temperature drop. I also recommend you use the darkest bread pans you've got.On the oven itself, if you're baking anything complex, like bread, you've got to watch the sky for clouds. Anything blocking the sun for too long and you'll have a drop in temperature. It's rated to reach 360-400 degrees in ideal conditions. So far I've only seen it up to 350, but I usually baked in the afternoon. I've heard it works very well in the winter too, but I've yet to be able to try it. I'll certainly update when I do.I recommend the accessories package because it comes with everything you need to get your cooking done. I baked the cookies and rolls on parchment paper, as the oven is a bit small for traditional pans. Also, when adjusting the oven for the sun, I recommend turning it just a little ahead of ideal so as the sun moves you get maximum heat before you have to readjust. It's very compact and would be an easy item to take camping. I just like the idea of knowing that if there was ever a disaster-type situation in my area (seeing the effects of Hurricane Sandy in the east is what convinced me to prepare) I'll have an oven to get some baking done. And since you can boil water, those no-water-heater baths you might have to take in a disaster situation could at least be a bit warmer. Also you can sterilize water for drinking (the kit comes with a WAPI).The reason I prefer this solar oven to others is it's actually an oven. Many others I researched were big mirror dishes, which means you can cook things like you would on a stove top, but not bread and cookies, not really. This thing can basically do anything your conventional oven can do except deep-frying. I can save the deep fry for the non-solar days. Sure, the oven isn't as useful on rainy days, but if you couple it with wood-burning or propane cooking you can make supplies last longer.Okay, are you convinced? Go pick one up. Save on power or save yourself in a disaster.
