Buy it!
I like it! Used it for crushing pills. It is nice and heavy with a non slip rubber type material on the bottom. Easy to clean except for the rubber underneath that may come of after multiple wash cycles. The steel seems to be of good quality and crushing things in it is childs play.

Works well,cosmetically challenged.
Wanted a stainless mortar and pestle and chose this one,two big things with what I got:First it works fine, nice and sturdy, tossed some pepper corns and coriander in and ground it up no problems.Second it's.....yea it has some finish issues, the grinder part has a large crack at the top,it's steel so I can only think it's a thing from the chunk they used, some kind of imperfection, and the bottom of the thing has a rubber ring which is I suspect to keep it from sliding and that's great,it also has a small metal plate with some info stamped on it which was loose so I thought "well don't need that and it's seems mildly glued on so just take it off".....I glued it back on,since it's covering the weight at the bottom...which appears to be a bit of cement from a construction site! LOL! But hey,it works. So if you want a stainless mortar and pestle this one will work fine, but you may have to give it a little polish and put up with some visual imperfections,I'm not picky but one less star for the less then finished product and questionable QC

Excellent for basic needs
At this price point, I wasn't really expecting much - I just liked that it had a plastic lid, and that it was made of metal, since the majority of the non-metal ones in the low price range all had reviews about the bowl breaking relatively easily.Size was what I expected - I got a bit worried bc several reviews mentioned it was bigger than expected, but I didn't think it was- it's exactly how I imagined, a small but decent size, for personal use or cooking for 3-4 people. You can probably fit a cup of two of liquid in the bowl, to give you an idea of the scale. It's not super heavy but it has enough weight to it that it's not going to go flying if you use pressure when grinding. It was surprisingly efficient for my needs: cooking stuff is a breeze. The biggest "test" of it's strength was when I needed to break down small, hard, pebbly pieces of mineral, to pulverise into powder. It did the job. Grinding works better than brute force or hammering the larger pieces, and I was able to pulverise it into a very fine powder relatively fast, just by grinding the pestle around. There is a small rubber ring for gripping to the counter. The lid was nice for keeping things from flying everywhere, but it does limit your range of motion when you start out, and blocks your view of the progress, so I took it off. Eventually , the opening will start to break on the lid, so use it for grinding with the lid on minimally. The only complaint I have is that I lost a significant amount of the powder to the tip of the pestle, and the mortar bowl. I tried to remove the powder stuck to the bowl and pestle with a small paint brush, then a new make-up brush for loose powder, and finally my finger. None of them really did a good job of this.Oddly, given the sticking, it cleans very easily - I wiped the inside out with a wet paper towel, which instantly removed the powder stuck to it, and then washed it like any other kitchen device. I'm not sure why the powder sticks and assume it just is a combination of the viscosity of the material you're grinding, and perhaps some kind of texture to the surface that is microscopic and not visible to the average eye.Overall, a great little buy- perfect for seeds, nuts, plants, mineral powders- but on a small scale (I ended up with about 20 grams of pulverised powder, and there was still plenty of room - you could safely grind up to 40 grams of final powder output, without it being overfull. It's easier to do it in smaller increments though, so I would say 20 grams at a time, max, to make sure you get a good result (no chunky pieces) and so you don't have any spillage issues). The only thing I *wouldn't* suggest it for is small pills or when you're using small amounts where every bit counts of whatever, bc you*will* lose some to the sides of the bowl and pestle. For example, it's a breeze to grind pills and medication, but if you're grinding a 20mg pill and you have to dose your pets with a very specific amount, it might not be the best solution, since your going to lose valuable medicine, and it's such a small amount that there's a cost loss factor. Perhaps a stiffer brush would remedy the issue; the brushes on my paint brush and new make up brush were not particularly firm. Otherwise, 5 stars. You can't beat the price, either.

QUALITY/FUNCTIONALITY We were surprised by the high quality and excellent craftsmanship. The beautiful finish is satin smooth
Bought this mortar & pestle to powder our elderly father's pills for mixing with applesauce twice daily. (He has trouble swallowing.) My wife also loves it for grinding herbs, and for measuring out 1-cup increments.QUALITY/FUNCTIONALITYWe were surprised by the high quality and excellent craftsmanship. The beautiful finish is satin smooth, no unsanitary grooves or milling marks. This mortar & pestle exudes class even as it grinds the toughest pills to fine dust in seconds, then easily washes clean. This thing is SOLID. Feels like it's milled from a single block of fine steel. And HEAVY - like your average brick! Clearly built for a lifetime of use.The thick rubber footing underneath prevents any slipping or sliding around. No more struggling to hold in place while pestling (grinding).SIZE is just right. The mortar (bowl) looks like a short, heavy-duty, goblet, and holds exactly one cup (8 fluid ounces). The pestle (grinding stick) is an ideal length and girth for most hands, making it easy to use. Heavy enough to do the job quickly and well, but not enough to fatigue.WHY STAINLESS STEEL?Unlike the "cool" stone ones we've had, this SS mortar & pestle doesn't CHIP or BREAK when banged or knocked off the counter. It doesn't STAIN, and retains no faint ODOR from things previously ground. It leaves no RESIDUE to scrub from tiny crevasses and pores, so no GERMS get trapped in there to add unseen nasty to the next use.It also looks great on the kitchen counter with our stainless steel appliances and accents. Our highest recommendation.

Size
The product packaging is a flimsy box not suitable for this heavy product. The box was busted. The product itself appears ok, it's heavy 765g or 1lb 11oz. No complaints, but I didn't use it. It's too small. I believe it was intended for pills, I didn't know crushing pills was a thing. I needed something for garlic, so this item is not suitable for my purpose. Returning for this reason.3 stars because I intended for the rating to be neutral.
