The tea sampler set is nicely packaged for gifting. The closure does not have magnets to keep it shut, but it still feels precisely engineered and easy to open with the ribbon tab. The cardboard box has a light texture to the outside to give it a nice feel in the hands, and it is fairly large at about 8” by 8.5” by 3.5”. The pyramid tea bags inside are individually boxed and labeled. I appreciate that they color code and clearly label black tea, oolong tea, green tea, white tea or herbal tea. This label helps you to know which are caffeinated, though it is also designated as such on the bottom side of the tea bag box. Any black, oolong, green or white tea will surely contain caffeine, while most herbals do not. The pyramid shaped boxes also have some lovely art on the outside of them. Each flavor has its own art design on the side of the box, which makes for an enjoyable experience with the tea gift set. I don’t know if this is unique to this gift set, but I don’t remember seeing this art on other Tea Forte pyramid boxes in the past. It is a nice touch to help set the mood with each tea bag. The insides of these boxes also have artistic patterns Their characteristic pyramid shaped tea bags with their appealing design are made of plastic, specifically PET mesh fiber as their website explains in the FAQ. It’s unfortunate that such a distinctive brand recognition piece for them is interwoven with the consumption of microplastics. Tea Forte’s pyramid tea bags have been around longer than we’ve been aware of issues related to microplastics, and I’m still holding out hope that they’ll engineer a way to recreate this special iconic tea bag look without plastic. Keep in mind that this also makes their tea bags not microwave safe, not that I’d recommend doing that even if they were. The tea itself tastes quite nice. I appreciate the wide variety of flavors and caffeine levels included in this set. I also like that you get two of each of the 20 flavors, so you are free to share them or taste them a second time in case you weren’t sure if you liked it the first time. I appreciate tea variety packs that give you more than one of the tea to try, but without so many duplicates that it doesn’t feel like you have a ton of tea to drink of the flavors you do not like. I don’t usually care for Earl Grey tea, but there are only two types (Earl Grey and Citrus Earl Grey) in this set. I appreciated that they didn’t dominate the variety pack with this or any other subcategory of tea; it feels like a good mix. The Black Currant, English Breakfast, Cherry Blossom, Jasmine Green, White Ginger Pear, Blueberry Merlot, and African Solstice are my top picks. I usually enjoy a chai, but the Winter Chai just doesn’t have the same feel to me without a black tea ingredient; the rooibos overpowers it. The Bombay Chai on the other hand was just okay. When brewed with just water for 3 minutes, it had a stronger black pepper and ginger flavor to it that I don’t normally expect in my chai. After adding some milk, those flavors mellowed out and the cardamom was starting to dominate, which was an improvement.

This tea chest is an exceptional gift for tea lovers, elegant entertaining or for a personal indulgence. While it is pricey, the quality and presentation fully justify the cost. The presentation box itself is beautifully crafted from sturdy, high quality heavy cardboard with thoughtful design details throughout. A satin ribbon runs down the center and extends beyond the flap adding a refined touch as a handle to lift the lid. Inside, the teas are neatly organized into individual compartments. The underside of the lid lists the tea type of each compartment including a picture representation of the tea leaves. Each of the 40 pyramid infusers is individually packaged in its own beautifully designed pyramid shaped box labeled with the flavor / tea type inside. The attention to detail is remarkable. The elegant presentation continues to the pyramid infuser bags themselves. Everything about this collection feels luxurious and sophisticated. As impressive as the packaging is the tea quality also stands out. Over the past month we sampled many of the blends while entertaining guests and every variety has been outstanding. The flavors are rich, smooth and incredibly aromatic, clearly made from premium teas blended with fruits, herbs and spices. Favorites included the Earl Grey, Jasmine Green and Blueberry Merlot, though every selection delicious. Several of our guests, including tea enthusiasts, commented on the superb quality and flavor of the teas. Overall, this tea chest is beautifully designed, of premium quality and makes for a memorable gift or an impressive addition for entertaining. Highly recommended as a gift for tea lovers or hosting.

Typically I drink inexpensive teas acquired opportunistically. This is more gourmet than I'm used to. Is it worth it at this price? I have no idea. Is it, in my semi-educated opinion, a nice box of assorted teas? Having tried four flavors so far, I'd say yes. The teas are attractively packaged, each in a pyramid shaped box containing a likewise pyramind shaped sachet with a wire rather than a thread attached to draw it. I'm used to smashing sachets against the side of my cup to squeeze every last iota of flavor out of them. That's not easy with these bags lol. But I won't let that stop me... The flavors are subtle but definitely there. The first I tried, Hibiscus Blossom, is delicious. I could drink it all day and never, I think, tire of it. (But I do add sugar. I'm a consumer, not a true connoisseur.) The others I've tried are Chamomile Citron, Cherry Blossom, and Green Mango Peach. I enjoyed all of them and have had ill effects from none. I mention that last bit since sometimes green tea can give me a headache or even nausea, but the two green tea varieties I've had from this box so far have not. It's a personal peculiarity that goes far in deciding how I buy and drink tea. Black tea always makes me sick without creamer. I chose the milder green teas so I could review based on the tea itself without having to temper the flavor with creamer, even though I'm not, most of the time, a big fan of green tea. These I really enjoyed. There was no grassy overtone. I leave it to the true connoisseurs to decide if that's desirable or not for them. It is for me.

This tea chest is absolutely beautiful and would make a wonderful gift for any tea lover. The presentation feels very elegant and high-end, from the organized tea compartments to the individually packaged pyramid infusers. Everything about it looks thoughtful and polished, making it feel special right from the moment it’s opened. The teas themselves are also very enjoyable, with a nice variety of flavors and blends. The packaging and overall presentation really elevate the experience and make it feel more luxurious than a standard tea sampler. It is definitely on the pricey side and more than I would normally spend for everyday personal use, but as a gift or for entertaining, it makes a stunning impression and feels worth it for the quality and presentation.

If you are unfamiliar with the brand, it is a great way to sample a variety of teas to find your favorites. My favorites are Black Currant, White Ginger Pear, and Blueberry Merlot. The presentation is also stunning. The lid of the tea chest shows the full tea assortment with pictures of the tea leaves, the type of tea, key ingredients, and tasting notes. There are two tea bags for each variety, so you and a friend or spouse can try out the full assortment together—so romantic! Also, the tea bags are truly unique and easy to use, with a triangular design and a leaf on top that makes it simple to remove the tea bag or agitate it in hot water. However, the best part of all is the scent and taste of these teas, which are amazingly flavorful. They offer such a nice variety of unique and inviting teas. At $66.30 for a 40-count sampler box of premium, high-quality tea, it’s a steal in my book at only $1.65 per cup.
