What is the ratio of oats that the mushrooms are grown on to mushroom?

Hi and thank you for your question. We grow our mushrooms indoors under controlled and optimized conditions on an organic whole oat substrate. The mycelium of the mushrooms grows rapidly on this nutritious substrate and produces an array of enzymes that liquifies the nutrition contained in the oats so that the nutrients can be absorbed into the mycelial cells and be converted into mushroom tissue and mushroom metabolites. At the end of the culturing period, the oats have been transformed into a very solid block of mycelium. For most of the species that we grow, at the end of the growth process the exterior surfaces of the biomass blocks are covered by mushroom fruit bodies--the final spore-producing stage of the mushroom life cycle. Any of the oat substrate that has not been converted into pure mushroom tissue has been changed during the culturing process into "myceliated oats"-- an inseparable matrix of mycelium and remnants of the fermented, enzymatically-converted substrate material. The content of "un-myceliated" raw oats in the finished powders is 0%. The content of "myceliated oats" is approximately 5 to 10%. It has been reported that the myceliated substrate content of mycelial biomass based powders is not inert filler material but is rather a fermented ingredient that supplies nutritional and medicinal benefits that are complementary to those provided by the mushrooms themselves.
