Poorly written
Parts of this book aren’t bad, but for the most part it’s just a downright confusing read when it comes to some of the more complicated concepts. Even the figures are confusing at times, I’ve only had the book a short while and have found a few figures with little to no descriptions. Riddled with typos. I’ll be referencing another anatomy book whenever possible.

Poor editing results in garbled message and confusing text
I'm teaching a college course using this textbook. I have a PhD in BioIogy and have been teaching for 16 years. I won't use this text again. The problems probably result from the editorial staff and not the authors. For example, the figures frequently have things that are mislabeled. The student self-tests have errors. The chapter headings can be misleading. There are too many abbreviations used. I find the organization choppy, and sometimes I am not sure where the authors are going. A textbook needs to tell students what they can do with the information and in this book the context is frequently missing. Finally, there are numerous sentences that use big words to say very little. I have trouble understanding what some of those sentences mean, and if I am having trouble, surely my students do, too. I think this book used to be good but it's been revised over and over, and the message is now garbled.
