so easy to use and powerful
I have only used this product once, on a large lawn (approx 1 tennis court) The scarfier started on the first pull straight out of the box (after filling with oil and petrol) and then proceeded to scarify my lawn with the greatest of ease. My previous scarifer was an Alko (similar price) and was such hard work every time i used it. I cannot recommend the Einhell GS SC 4240P highly enough and it filled three wheelie bins with thatch in less than half an hour, and was still going strong

Magnificent!!
If you're buying this then you know what it is, what it's for etc etc - I'm a gardener, upgraded my old trusty Suffolk Punch lawn scarifier for this and not an ounce of regret!Customers couldn't believe how much thatch and moss came out of the lawn, albeit they were a bit shocked at first as it is very aggressive, but that's what it does.Highly recommend

It works under the most arduous conditions
Well built with little plastic and built to last and with the power to work under the most demanding lawn conditions when the collector fills too quickly. I cannot see the electic powered versions available doing the same job.

Superb first impressions!
ten minutes of scarifying and 10 minutes raking I have two large piles of detritus.I nearly returned it because I thought it had a rake blade, which it doesn't but luckily I didn't. This machine is so good scarifies without destroying, starts easily, runs beautifully. So far nothing but good things to say about it.Hopefully in a year or two I will have a great lawn again after years of neglect.

Be prepared
I've probably actually used this for less than ten minutes (twice) but it is very efficient. First off; the basket is frankly useless. Put it aside and forget about it.I used it on the least aggressive setting and I was almost chasing it along as it spat out huge mounds of moss and thatch out of the back. Then I spent the next 45 minutes raking it up and filling my huge recycling bin compressed. If I used this for half hour I could spend an afternoon filling a 1 tonne aggregate bag compressed.I've got a big garden, so it will eventually get around it but the piles of thatch this thing generates is frightening. I do use a mulch mower and after a couple of years realised that a scarifier was needed to get the grass healthy again. Might be why it is pulling up so much. The drive pulley managed to unthread itself after my second 10 minute rodeo today but I'm not shy with a spanner and managed to get it going again. It's a basic machine but does what it says in the tin (and then some).

Why pay for someone else to tend to your lawn when you can do it yourself
Quality product, just completed scarifying my large lawn, this machine handled it no problem. Just have to be patient now and see the results.

Engine Exploded After Just Seconds
I filled this with SAE 30 4 stroke oil, petrol, started her up for the first time on the highest setting, ran for a few seconds and BANG. Engine cut out and started bellowing out smoke. There is resistance on the pull chord now and the engine won't start.Because I am two days past the 30 day return policy it looks like this could be £300 down the drain.
