Comfortable Everyday Walking Shoe That Just Works
Comfortable Everyday Walking Shoe That Just WorksThese New Balance 411 V1 Training Shoes turned out to be a solid pick for everyday walking and casual wear. Right out of the box, they felt lightweight and easy on the feet. The cushioning is well-balanced—not overly soft but supportive enough that I can wear them for long stretches without discomfort. The wide sizing was a plus, offering extra room without making the shoe feel bulky or sloppy. The black-on-black design keeps things simple and versatile. I’ve worn them with jeans, shorts, and even casual work pants, and they don’t look out of place. The mesh upper provides good breathability, which is important for longer walks. The sole has decent grip for city streets and light trails, though I wouldn’t use these for more rugged hiking. If there’s anything to note, it’s that the insole feels fairly standard—comfortable, but not as plush as some higher-end models. People who need extra arch support might want to add their own inserts. But for me, they’ve been great as-is.Bottom line: A dependable, comfortable, and no-frills walking shoe that does exactly what you’d want it to—keep your feet happy on everyday walks.

Good fit, likely not super durable so just use them as casual shoes.
I would not recommend working out in these, they will likely get damaged. Running should be ok, but don't use these as running shoes, because they aren't really durable. I use them as casual shoes, just walking. They are very comfortable and the insoles come out if you want to put some Dr. Scholls in them, just cut the new insole into the shape of the original insole that came with the shoe.Update: I've been wearing them, running and walking every day in them for the past month and a half. They hold up very well. Nothing has happened to them, they just got dirty, so I mixed dishwashing detergent in water and scrubbed the sole and outside of the shoe. They still look pretty new, even after falling, stepping in mud, taking sharp steps, etc. For the price, they're very decent shoes and I'd recommend them.

Great Shoes
I read a lot of the negative reviews about these shoes and was a little nervous but bought them anyway. I can honestly say all the negative things I read were completely wrong in my case. The comfort right out of the box was perfect, as I would expect. I have been wearing New Balance for many years and have rarely if ever been disappointed. The fit was perfect too. Soon after I put them on, I went for a 25-minute walk. They felt great with no break in needed. This was despite the fact that I had a large open blister on the back of my foot due to a walk with another pair of shoes. Another negative thing I read was that the shoes were too heavy. I definitely did not find this to be the case. They were as light as I expected. I am very happy with the purchase and would buy them again.

Nice simple aesthetic in black but on the hot side
I like the simple design and tread that resists mud more than most shoes, though even these could be better. The soles can be cleaned with a wire brush without too much trouble - unlike every other tennis shoe. I have owned 4-5 pairs over the last decade. I always have to cut the shoe laces because they are about 12 inches too long - which is a nuisance ever after. What is the deal with these long shoe laces??? They are also too hot in summer to be really comfortable. I can get about 2 years out of a pair before they become my lawn mowing shoes. After two years they develop enough cracks to be somewhat ventilated. I put about 8-10 miles/week on mine. That is a lot of miles over 2 years.
