Dee Zee DZ43206 Tailgate Assist Fits a 19-Current Ford Ranger

I just installed this tailgate assist and it was a breeze to install! I'm not really sure where and why it got its name Dee Zee, but it is a good product. It has good solid materials. The instructions and video are great and easy to follow (not that it's hard to install). This was specific for a 2021 Ford Ranger.

The product works as expected and the installation was a breeze, thanks to the instructions on youtube. It only takes about 5 minutes to install as long as you have the t50 and 6mm allen wrench.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Definitely a well made product. It was very easy to install even though the instructions had a couple of typos, but the pictures were very clear and helpful. Ease of use:Super easy with about 4 tools.

I bought the Dee Zee because it's the one that I've seen Ford put on the Ranger if you order this feature from the factory. So you could almost call it the OEM part... I bought a "used like new" and true to Amazon's word it was complete and in perfect shape, someone had sliced open the plastic and decided to not install it for some reason. Unlike some of the reviews of competitive items I didn't have any trouble with the piston conflicting with the cable. Mine works perfectly and starts the controlled drop almost from the point at which the gate opens. Highly recommended. Further comments: my truck is a 2022. You need a pretty stout Torx 50 bit, also an M-6 hex wrench. Those weren't included. That's about it...literally took 10 minutes. (edited to correct model year)

So this tailgate assist is very easy to install and works a little too well. Because the ranger tailgate is so light the tailgate lowers so slow it's almost a hindrance. If you have something heavy you'll be waiting for it to lower itself. It also appears to slightly interfere with the cable on the driver side that supports the tailgate but haven't had any trouble with that yet. All in all worth it and maybe as it gets some more time on it it will lower a little faster.

I have been using it for nearly 2 years. Installation was easy. My tailgate lowers slowly and raises easily. Feels like an assisted tailgate from the factory. Fit my 21 Ranger perfectly. Would hight recommend.

The media could not be loaded. Great product! Operated as advertised. All hardware included. Super easy installation I did at night in the cold. Only hiccup was that the top bolt on my 2022 Ranger Lariat Tremor needed a 7/16 Allen wrench for removal/installation. The torx 50 did not fit the top bolt on my truck. Ended my video at the bolt in question and took pics for reference. Still only took about 10 minutes to install and works great.
