Really good solution to smarten up old homes
I live in a house built in the late 50s with very few updates done in the electrical systems. Wiring is hot, return, and grounded (MOSTLY). Just shameful. When we bought it, we took a few months to gut the kitchen and run a few electrical updates on the main floor before we moved in. But we didn't even consider running a neutral wire throughout, so lighting updates were smart at the bulb, not the switch. With our current renovation of the bathroom, the lighting had to be smart from the switch, since demand for light, night light effects, etc. requires an immediate response from a switch, but is great when smart, as well. Most units with smart features, motion sensing, and dimming capabilities, normally require a neutral wire. This switch does not. Compatible with Alexa, Google, etc, it also has great controls for motion sensing -- like, how sensitive do you want it to be, and whether it will turn on when there's already adequate daylight. Works like a charm!Currently (during testing) I have a simple lamp fixture wired in, using the socket adapter to an old dumb, undimmable LED. It's working flawlessly.I'll update once I get the full lighting system installed (5 dimmable LED puck lights, low draw).App and Alexa setup were quick and easy, though, yes, you will have to set up YET ANOTHER third-party account to link to Alexa through GE's Cync app. Not my favorite, and I really wish there was one app to connect allllllllll the smart home stuff. So far this works very well.

Had to use the included adapter
Tried installing this switch directly onto a fluorescent bulb fixture in my bathroom, with no luck. Nothing worked correctly. The switch includes an adapter that should help if you’re experiencing problems controlling the light. However, it is designed for a screw-in light bulb socket. So I bought an adapter that provides a screw-bulb socket, effectively changing the fluorescent fixture into a screw-bulb fixture, so I could then use the adapter that came with this switch. The switch/motion sensor work flawlessly now.

Beware the bulb adapter!
This review is for the single pole dimmer+motion sensor (no neutral wire). It's pretty...but not so smart! Installation was straight forward but it just doesn't work! The motion sensor is not accurate and WiFi connection drops/disconnects often. Be aware that the actual switch uses Bluetooth Mesh (as noted in the app). The WiFi connection appears to be only for voice integration and app control. This is is the MOST IMPORTANT part of this review...if you read the documentation, there's an included adapter that screws onto one of the bulbs, it's needed in most installations. The adapter is about half the length of a normal LED bulb and will effectively DOUBLE the length of ONE (yes, just one) bulb in your fixture (I've included photos of the adapter). It looks ridiculous and didn't even fit into my fixed ceiling fixture...a typical globe style light with glass cover. I installed and set it up anyway only to find that it worked for about 20 minutes before the connected bulbs started to flash then the switch indicator turned red and the lights remained uncontrollable in the on position. Even a factory reset of the switch didn't correct that behavior. I wasted about an hour on trying to resolve It, then just removed the switch and boxed it back up for return to Amazon. Save yourself some trouble and skip this item. Just trust the reviews and look for something better. Wish I'd done that also.

Maybe the best Smart Switches available
I have now completed installation of C by GE (aka Cync) smart switches in my house (~20 of them) and my father's house (~15 of them). Between the two houses, we have 3-way and single-pole; mostly 4-wire but some 3-wire; dimmers, dimmers with motion sensor, and simple toggle switches. Grant it, the biggest headache is not GE's problem when the previous owner had multiple breakers wired into one outlet box (happened in both my parents and my own house!). Solved but long tedious process. On the GE products, we are very happy we have them and functions reasonably well. The biggest complaint is the wifi connectivity can be a little flaky. The software has a bug in one of the firmware and a workaround is available but not all my switches upgrade to it so only some of my switches have access to the workaround.Support is excellent. I had a lot of user error and the support was available all the time (late nights and weekends), patient and very knowledgeable. Even worked through issues that were not my fault (i.e. limitations or bugs in the product) and helped find workarounds.

Best Option for Three Wire Installation
Nice looking, clear instructions and easy to install. Best of three wire options I could find available (i.e., no neutral wire required). For some reason in my relatively new home the electrician made one switch three wire! Make sure to use LED bulbs with 15W minimum load so you can avoid using the provided adapter. Nothing wrong with the adapter per se, but in a visible environment with other bulbs it will stick out, perhaps, in certain cases, not even let the bulb fit inside the glass fixture any more. The CbyGE app is decent, but looking forward to Cync coming out. One nice feature is being able to key turning on and turning off based on sunset or sunrise, as the case may be. You can even 'offset' by an amount of time that you want so, say, lights come on 10 minutes before sunset or go off 5 minutes after sunrise, you can fade up or down over a period of time you determine, and so forth.I have the motion sensor version. That works well but I had to turn the motion activation off. It is coded by firmware that limits the time to 5 minutes. 5 minutes is not nearly long enough for our use (switch is in a hallway, not where the people are in the relevant room). I hope they will upgrade the firmware so you can alter how long the lights stay on. Would be perfect if they would fix that feature.

Horrible!
That switch doesn't connect properly with Alexa! Well, it does, but you can't access it with Alexa! Totally defeats the purpose! Apart from that it loses connection with its own app frequently! And the bad thing is... It works on its own like crazy! The whole night it keeps turning on most of the night! I don't know if it catches demons or spirits moving around the toilet! But it's really annoying!I am definitely getting a standard non-smart dimmer for the bathroom, and forget about the whole hassle!Do NOT recommend it!

VERY DISAPPOINTED!
after months of waiting for this product to hit the market, OH BOY! OH BOY!, I think a lot of it has to do with covid but overall beware of "the fine print" before you buy this product. I successfully installed the unit follow all intruccions but it will not connect to my wifi.1. in the box specifies for a 2.4g network, don't be fooled by this, find on the GE site the compatibly list of ROUTERS that this devices will work with if your current router is not in the list do not waste your time.2. they only provide you with 1 bulb adapter and they do not sell more, meaning if you got a light fixture that requires more than one bulb you're screwed ; it will work with regular halogen bulbs but if you're like me and have LED bulbs you are going to need the adapters .OVERALL, it is very restricted, and not convenient to all customers

Great option with no neutral wire
I have Leviton switches throughout my house, however my basement is without a neutral wire. I just installed a pair of these and super impressed with the grouping functions. It also has a lower profile than Leviton so I found them an easier fit. Work great. Set up easy using the new Cync app and works great with Alexa. Just ordered another two to finish off the basement. They're a bit pricey, but highly recommend if you do not have a neutral wire.

Stopped working
The initial setup was a little confusing as it needed a software update to rectify issues. The motion sensor is okay, my other China brand seems to work better, expected higher end. The motion sensor is not separate from the unit for motion routines. Works with Assist services. Completely stopped working. Won't buy again.

Be careful!
UPDATE: After a month of usage, it made short circuit internally with no warning or security mechanism to protect it. Almost got everything on fire. I NO longer recommend it.-----I thought the cause for no-neutral smart homes was lost, with not many options and super expensive ones for whatever is available. This was a great surprise, great ingeniosity was used to design this product. For sure, it's not perfect and has its limitations, but installed in a 2 wire box? It does more and works better than I expected!
