Best Western
I have this in a VHS and my video no longer works so I ordered it in a DVD. I watched it over and over. Love Val Kilmer and Wyatt Earp! One of my favorite movies.

My husband loves this movie. He has watched it literally over 100 times. He has memorize huge chunks of the dialog. It is a MUST have in your DVD library if you love Westerns.

Watch before going toTombstone, AZ
Watched this prior to going to the town of Tombstone to get some history (as best via Hollywood). Entertaining to walk around the town after watching and see what they were portraying in the show.

5 star quality
This was an awesome movie. It totally went along with what happened in real life. Kurt Russell(Wyatt Earp) did an excellent job, as did Bill Paxton(Morgan Earp) and Sam Elliot(Virgil Earp). But I believe the best actor in this movie was Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday. He plays the character so well and gets in the swing of things so quickly. Whomever casted this movie did an excellent job and the movie shows it!

Tombstone versus Wyatt Earp.
Two studios produced the story of Wyatt Earp and I discovered both at the same time. I got a copy of each one of them, the Warner Bros. production with Kevin Costner in the major role (run time 190 minutes) and the Cinergi/Hollywood Pictures /Touchstone which is this one, Tombstone with Kurt Russell (130 minutes). The Warner Bros. production is a lot more realistic and show his entire life which explain the one hour longer run time than the Cinergi/Hollywood/Touchstone production which is more "Hollywood colored style movie", if I can say so, that skipped is life until the moment he arrived in the city of Tombstone and became that justice Marshall that he's so well known for.In short, if I want to go with history and get a real pictures about how drunk guys can behave (Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday), then it's Wyatt Earp and when I feel for Hollywood style entertainment, than it's Tombstone. I like both movies because even if they are very different in style, both have strong acting, pictures, music, etc.

Worth it for Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday
I have recently become very interested in the Gunfight at the OK Corral and have read a number of books about it. This movie was reasonably accurate and Val Kilmer really has been robbed of Oscar nominations for just about everything he has ever been in, including this.He absolutely inhabited the character of Doc Holliday and his performance as well as the way that character is written, is worth the price of admission.

A Real Winner!
IMO, this is by far the best movie re the Earp's and their fight to preserve the peace in Tombstone. Great acting by all adds authenticity to this movie. Of course, everything leads up to the gunfight at the OK Corral which doesn't fail to impress. The action keeps going with Wyatt and company chasing down the remaining desperadoes. Just a great western that doesn't drag on and is very entertaining!
