Works great
Works great. You have to tie red and yellow together for it to work. Seen well on security cameras but my phone camera looks a bit blurry. Must be IR blocked. Looks well enough in my photo I guess.Update: I tried TTL modulation on a TV Be Gone. Works beautifully!

It performs well when operated under 5 V. When the voltage exceeds 5 there is a static electric build up, at which point the laser can shock you. I was disappointed that it comes with no specification sheet at all. That's not a very good practice for electrical components. Other than that, it definitely does work. It is not in the visible spectrum, but when viewed with a smartphone, you can see the emitted NIR (near infra red) light.

27 mW at 976 nm
Draws 70 mA at 3.6 V and delivers 27mW at 976 nm---not the advertised 1mW, so watch your eye safety. Collimating lens looks cheap but gives a nice 1mm dot at 50 cm (see photo).

Both have failed!
Wish I could give zero stars.The 2nd one failed too, so both of these have failed. One a few minutes after receiving it and the original one I bought now.Too bad!UPDATE: Do not buy, not reliable at all.—-Laser dot went dim, the stopped outputting anything.The first one purchased a few months earlier works but has a lot of artifacts in the projected dot. It's oval in shape and has many artifacts in the dot, square shaped artifacts. Also the dot cannot be focused any finer than 2 feet in diameter at 80 yards at its smallest size. Definitely not useful as an IR laser dot.

I guess laser means something different to me.
This is a 980nm laser diode with a rotating lens for focus, at 3.0vdc and a distance of about 5', the smallest "Dot" I could achieve was about 4" in diameter. I was able to achieve similar results with an IR LED and a small lens from an old bb gun scope. Maybe I misunderstood the description. Going to try some TTL control with an Arduino Nano and a Level Converter, but I believe all that will do is modulate power output by pulsing the diode on and off. If someone else has any tips for a tighter "Dot" say 25mm or an inch at about 5' that would be great. but turning the lens either direction from current just increases the "Dot" size. Overall, I am not impressed, I was hoping for a dot size similar to those cheap cat toys you can get at walmart.

Works as described. Currently using two powered off a USB port to project IR dots for Nintendo Wii.

nice little laser module
nice little laser module, easy to use, mechanically reasonably stable. lases at 984nm, about 4nm FWHM line width. supplying regulated 3.3VDC i get about 25mW optical output. didn't try the TTL modulation.

Worked for about 30 seconds, flashed then quit
On regulated power supply, pulsed at 4 Hz 50% duty cycle, it lit up for about 30 seconds, I tried to focus it, as the lens was almost completely out on opening. It flashed a brief bright splotch, then quit, never to light up again. Don't waste your money.

Works!
It's an invisible beam viewable through a phone camera only in adim ambient environment. Nice little dot with a g8 lens, mounted with heat-sinked host. Proper eye protection is a must as well as avoiding direct, or reflected beam on camera lens.
