POCKETALK S2 Plus Business eSIM 5 Year White - Voice & Camera Real-Time Translator - 92+ Languages, Extra Large Screen and Battery Life

I am blind and I bought this device to interact with Spanish-speaking floor installers doing work in my home. When one team came to do some hardwood flooring, I did not yet have this device and greatly struggled to interact with the workers. After I bought it, the second team came and it was absolutely spectacular! I did need my son to help me do the setup because I could not see the screen, but it only took a moment and was very simple, and afterwards just pressing a single button let me interact with the selected language very easily and very accurately with other people speaking a language different from my own. This product would be even better if it could be independently set up by a blind person, like simply dictating by holding the command button and telling it which language you want to translate. That seems to be a simple concept, and should be easily doable by the manufacturer. Still, I do give this thing a very high score because it worked so well. It is very easy to charge like every other USB -C device, the sound quality is excellent and very loud when you want it to be, and it translates quite a few languages… I found this device to be very impressive.

I have customers coming into Cultured Cowboy Western Store speaking languages which I do not. Customers always smile large when I bring out this translator to converse with them. I originally bought it to do Zoom Meetings with an Italian speaking peer. It does not function well over Zoom calls. Time lags, and other factors. Better in person as it was designed. It works more accurately if speaking a little slower than normal, in any language. Worth the investment.

The display interface is poorly designed, particularly for the other person who has to press the screen to switch to their language. Most of the screen space is used to make a language selection. So as soon as someone touches the wrong section of the screen, a confusing menu of languages comes up, and instantly they've selected some arbitrary language interested of simple being able to respond. The device dies in two days without charge. The international data doesn't work in most places. When there is Wi-Fi, you have to connect every time. When there is no internet connection, the unit is basically worthless. I thought this would be superior as it was a dedicated hardware device, I was wrong. There are better free options on Android and iOS.

This little translator is great. Me and my wife use it at the doctor's office, pharmacy and everywhere else. There is a learning curve to be efficient with it. A small drawback is that it must be connected to either a data plan or WiFi to use. Previous translations can be used offline.

Pocketalk S2 Plus – Business. Product seems to work extremely well when connected to my WiFi. When connected to the included Data Plan, it was a little slower to understand and respond at least in my area (southern CA, USA), which to be honest is not the best for reception. The big test will be when I visit Japan in April, but I have every confidence it will work. I also tested the camera / photo translation portion of the device worked very well. Tests were only done for English / Japanese translations. I will make a note of a small issue that did get resolved regarding the length of the Data plan. That is, when I received the item, I noticed the box stated e-SIM 2 year. I was concerned because I paid for the 5 year plan. After contacting the seller (and the manuf.) I was satisfied that it was going to be the 5 year plan. I charged the device and immediately checked the Date Plan in the setting which confirmed that the embedded global SIM was good until 4:22pm on 03-01-2031 (5 years) as advertised.

I purchased the Pocketalk Instant Voice Translator with high hopes, especially given its support for 80+ languages, but I was disappointed to find that it does not work properly with Haitian Creole. Despite Haitian Creole being listed as a supported language. Works better with other major languages, but not reliable if you need Haitian Creole. I was really happy to find an instant translator that claimed to support voice translation for Haitian Creole. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work properly. The device struggles to recognize or translate Haitian Creole accurately. It’s a great idea, but not reliable yet for this language. Pocketalk’s website made it seem like it would work, but it doesn’t. I’ve returned three devices already because the voice translation for Haitian Creole not supported at all. Very disappointing and misleading.

We used the translator in Japan in restaurants and at multiple tourist areas where English was not spoken. We were able to hold a conversation and the translations were accurate. We previously used Google translate which worked well but was cumbersome when trying to hold a conversation. Pocketalk is easy to use and the sound quality is excellent. We will be traveling to other parts of Asia and are looking forward to seeing how well it functions with the different languages.
