Not by Cicero, but superb
I only wish I had read this and put it into practice at 15.

Deep and absorbing
An excellent book, I've been looking for this book for ages and finally saw it in the used section of Amazon and bought it immediately. I wasn't disappointed, exactly what I wanted the book is well laid out with the Latin in left page and the English (well translated by Harry Caplan) in the right hand side. Plenty of foot notes to expand on the authors intentions and instructions. The section on memory was particularly interesting as I am very interested in medieval and ancient forms of memorisation.I was also pleased with the size of the book, about a hand span in height and hardback, fits in my coat pocket very nicely. The Rhetoric and oratory parts were intriguing as well; I have many instances when I have to talk in public. Overall a fascinating read and most instructive, enjoy.

Excellent Material for Rhetoric Research
Nice touch on the Latin and English page-to-page translation. Really gives you a feel of this amazing orator across 2000 years ago.

Overall a good book though
I read the whole book but I was mostly interested on the section that dealt with memory techniques since these techniques are still used today by mental athletes and memory champions. Overall a good book though, you can't go wrong with the classics.

Recommended.
I recently received this book and just started reading it. I bought it mainly for the passages on memory and i have to say so far it has some things that i use that really helps out. Even if its not specifically for that. This book is great in simply learning how to argue or rather, learning how to create an algorithm to arguments. I would recommend this to anyone.

focus on volume 1
I read the Loeb library volume 1-5 in Cicero. I have to say, out of the books, only Rhetorica Ad Herennium seemed to teach me something - and this book taught me a lot in a very efficient manner. The other books seemed very focused on defending Cicero's views vs others. For a layman such as me, the "cookbook" style of RhAdHer was much more useful than endless debates up and down about how important it is to be a good man. I would recommend buying only Volume1 if it is a few (i.e. MANY!!) good tips to rhetorics you're after, but if you like the classical reading in itself, the texts are indeed quite well written and much can be learned from that in itself.

Great book to carry around. Makes you look smart. Probably make you even smarter if you actually read it.
