Panasonic Trim Kits NN-TK81KCS

The frame and associated parts were easy to install and looks great. Only issue was the amount of time it took to get this in.

Very attractive trim. Fits perfectly and was very easy to install.

We spent months measuring, diagramming and reading the specs on this kit before ordering a custom cabinet designed to fit the trim kit. In the US, a 24" cabinet is 24" in the outer dimension. This kit MAY fit if the INNER dimension is 24". We spent thousands of dollars on a cabinet as part of an entire kitchen remodel and months in researching and even CALLING Panasonic tech support who could only read off what we can read ourselves. They ASSURED us it would fit a 24" cabinet. They were of no help and could not actually measure anything for us or clarify the sometimes unclear documentation. We ended up squeezing the microwave right up against the cabinet wall without clearance on the right side. Maybe this kit was meant for european cabinets, I am not sure, but it was a fricken nightmare for us in the US. If we had the space, I would have put in a newer style microwave intended for cabinet mounting rather than this nightmare, but we didn't have that kind of luxury. Very disappointed in Panasonic, their documentation and their tech support. These trim kits are expensive for what they offer, so the selling point is the custom fit - which it doesn't satisfy.

Looks nice and is well made, but the side width isn’t wide enough to completely cover the mounting clips. They show a little, not too bad but if you look close enough they can be seen.

The Panasonic trim kit (which I bought used on Amazon) was well packaged and included all the parts with no damage. However, I knew the 24 inch trim was not going to work for me so I also bought this kit. Cosmo COS-30BIMTK 30 in. Stainless Steel Microwave Oven Built-In Trim Kit... which worked better even though it was intended for a wider oven. I used left over trim from the cabinets to hide the openings and it looks ok. It would be nice if Panasonic offered this trim plate.

I had to do some remodeling of the kitchen cabinet opening to make this work, but the result is great. Very nice looking.

At first blush, this may seem to be very pricey for a microwave trim kit. However, there is more to the kit than just the exterior trim.1. This includes vent conversion hardware that is necessary when installing the microwave in a wall cabinet.2. This kit includes a mounting platform that the microwave rests on.3. Finally, the kit contains the SS trim that snaps on to complete the installation.This kit is well designed and engineered. However, the instructions are atrocious! They diagram 3 different installation options without describing the differences. All 3 diagrams have a typo (see photo) if you want a proper conversion from metric to imperial. No problem, one of my tape measures has both. It turns out that the recommended opening width of 600mm IS WRONG. I only discovered this after cutting the opening and installing the trim.... I have about a 3/16" gap on both sides. I plan on adding stainless steel angles to fix the appearance but better instructions from Panasonic are needed.PS: You should know that the installation instructions show a 1-1/2" gap in every shelf in the cabinet including the top. I am guessing that this allows the microwave to draw a proper volume of air in and to exhaust air out. I used a forstner bit to drill equivalent holes in every shelf and into the upper bulkhead. Again, the diagram shows this without explaining it in English.

The installation instructions, to which you size your kitchen cabinet, are wrong. The width of the cutout is specified as being 600mm or 23 5/8". If you do that, this trim kit will not fit! It's literally the most fundamental thing about this kit, so I'd say it's a massive miss.The actual width of the trim kit is 23 1/2, and you'll want the edges to overlap the box, so the internal dimensions should be smaller than that.
