Excellent Product for the price and use
I bought this product from Amazon a few months ago and love it. It's one of those products that you really didn't know how you lived before you bought it. My family gives this same example with 'caller ID'. We have a long drive way and sometimes I wasn't aware the service people or just a stranger was outside the house without me knowing until I was startled. It works well but not perfect. I would say it works 90% perfect - sometimes people get by without me knowing and like the other reviewer it does seem to go off a lot during the night but I know I got raccoons and rabbits that roam the area. I agree that if I had 2 of them it would probably near 100% accuracy if I heard both beeps in a timely matter verifing a car coming down the driveway. I might have errored in setting up because of my wooded location and proximity to neighbors - I sometimes get extra beeps when their cars leave their driveway or the lawn guys cut there lawn. But I gave this item 5 stars because it does give you a simple battery powered warning that works really well for a cheap price!! I actually buy these now for house warming gifts and nobody has said anything negative about one to date.

A new company and this one works too
I have the original "Reporter" and two sensors that work as advertised, I decided to install a third sensor so ordered from Amazon the new type marked "Chamberlain", less money and it doesn't work I guess the name change negated the working ability, I have had it over a year and it worked twice both times when I tied to "teach" it to the base station it worked well at that range of a few feet. The originals have wonderful battery life and work as they should even in the cold and snowy Maine Winters and at twice the distance but the newer one, forget it( which is easy because it never goes off) UPDATE This product would not work with old home base AND I HAD TO BJUY THE NEW BASE STATION IN ORDER FOR IT TO WORK well. No problems after doing this update of equipment.

Good value
I bought the receiver and a sensor to use on our long driveway ( I later bought another sensor). We have attached it to a louder doorbell chime as the buzzer is not that loud. We live in the UK and I couldn't find anything on the market here that had the long transmitting range that the reporter has for anything near this price. Overall, I am very happy with it. Sometimes it doesn't pick up vehicles. It nearly always picks up people. I think the vehicle thing may be due to the angle of the beam as we have attached the first transmitter to a convenient tree. As we now have two transmitters in different locations, if the first one doesn't pick up the second almost certainly will. It seems to be affected a bit by the weather, particularly wind. There are days when it hardly works and I think it is broken - but these are not that frequent. It gives me confidence to let my children play outside when I am inside. I nearly always know now that someone is approaching the house long before they get to the front door. Very useful!!

Simple and effective
I dreaded the set up, but was completely surprised. Most such critters you have to go thru all sorts of stuff to program them- this couldn't have been easier. The little DIP switches that some have complained about- get a grip, Sparky... either that or put on your reading glasses. easy to switch and operate. The worst thing about them is the limited swivel of the ball & socket mount system- hard to redirect very much. No big deal. I find the volume of the alarm just fine- if you want it louder you can easily wire in another circuit for a remote alarm or dialer or... anything. If you want- buy two base station units and place one where you can't hear the other. Too loud? An adjustment would be nice, but I really don't see making it any quieter than it is. Like someone said, put a pice of tape over the speaker if that's bothering you. I find it just right- put it in the bedroom. if it goes off, I'll hear it... but my wife sleeps right through it. Bless her. This is an inexpensive solution.

The best driveway alarm available!
The alarm works great... I've had mine for over three years. The recent order was for two additional transmitters (sensors). I have the transmitter hid 8 feet up in a tree approximately 700 feet from the receiver. I do get false-alarms from raccoons and other small animals. It is a hassle to replace the batteries, requiring the removal of four small Phillips screws but since the first batteries lasted almost three years, why worry! I do suggest replacing the Phillips screws with regular hex-head screws.

Not as advertised
On 1/6/08 I purchased a Chamberlain Wireless alert system with a Receiver. I installed the receiver in my den and the PIR sensor outside about 120ft from the receiver. The unit worked pretty much as advertised. It is important to note both this receiver and PIR sensor had 12 inch antennas. On 1/14/09 I ordered three additional PIR sensors. I installed these units the same distance from the receiver as the original PIR sensor. None of the three new sensors could communicate with the receiver. I took the receiver outside and placed it on my lower rear deck. The distance between the PIR sensors, all four, and the receiver was now less than 100 feet. Now the receiver worked with all four PIR sensors. The three new PIR sensors had 6 inch antennas. I tryed making the three new PIR sensors antennas 12 inches long to see if this would correct the problem. It did not. Nothing I tryed would allow the receiver to receive a signal from the three new PIR sensors once the receiver was placed inside my house. My lower rear deck is accessed via my master bedroom. Putting the receiver inside my master bedroom, less than 100 feet from the three new PIR sensors, didn't work either. I've had to leave the receiver in a water proof compartment on my lower rear deck with the antenna exposed to get all four PIR sensors to work. Maybe the 1,200ft range is a miss print and it should read less than 120ft.

New Sensor for Older Reporter
Got this to add to my existing setup and it works like a charm. I am adding an extra sensor to a unit that's about 5 years old and all I had to do was clear the receiver and then pair both sensors. It was a snap. Now the first sensor beeps once and the new (second) sensor beeps twice. Range in my set up is about 550' on the further sensor and 220' on the closer one with the receiver in the center of the house getting a signal through two walls. Zero false alarms - if it goes off, there is something there.

Great Gadget
We have four of these sensors around our property and love them. We've had none of the issues other people have reported and we've had our for almost a year. We have one on our driveway to tell us when guests arrive and when the mailman is here. The others protect the sides and back of the house. We even gave these as gifts to family members and they love them too. Only a couple of times do they report them going off without anyone being present. These are a great and inexpensive item for piece of mind.
