GACE Middle Grades Reading 012 Teacher Certification Test Prep Study Guide (XAM GACE)

I'm appalled that this book was published. It was apparently unedited. The book opens with the helpful advice that one should eat a hearty meal of meat before studying (!). Another quirky example, I just read a page where the same paragraph was printed twice. I imagine a grandmotherly retired Georgia teacher writing and self-publishing the book unassisted from her basement office.The tone is weird, the content is outdated (and oddly geared to younger students), and the organization and formatting is bizarre and inconsistent. If you can buy another guide, by all means do it!

This might have been useful for the elementary test. I studied the entire book carefully. There was little mention of anything to do with teaching reading to middle schoolers. There was nothing on the middle school reading GACE that I can recall from studying the book. This book was a complete waste of time and money. If you are already a middle school teacher, then the test will be common sense for you.

Purchased this for the test. I was certified K-5 but wanted to add the middle school part to my certificate. Read the book and passed with ease on the first attempt. Well worth the cost of the book.

This book has been so helpful to my studying for the middle grades reading GACE! I learned about new terms and great strategies that I had not even heard of before! I am so glad that I took the time to order this text so that I can be better prepared for the reading exam. I do not think I would have gotten the vast amount of great practice problems and reading information from the small amount of practice problems online. I definitely would recommend this book to anyone who is taking the reading gace or to those who are looking to be reading specialists. Great book!! Thanks!

This study guide was NOT very helpful for the middle school reading exam, I would not recommend it. The contents were more for an elementary school teacher, it seemed like they just changed the name. It had lots of information that wasn't covered on the test and didn't cover many subjects that were on the test. Do not waste your money on this guide.
