Fantastic
I've been practicing Wicca in various forms since high school but I've been slowly slipping over to the left hand side of the spectrum for the past 10 years, and just within the last year started seriously hunting down books and information on the subject. Most of what I've ordered and read through have been less than helpful, and a few were so full of garbage that they literally got thrown in the trash where they belonged.Apophis is hands down the first introduction to the LHP that I was so impressed with, I re-read it and took notes. It seemed like this book took ideas I've been toying with for years, focused them, and brought them to a new direction. It was also the first time I've heard of the Temple of Set, and after digging around on their site and podcasts, I'm hoping the books and sources suggested there will compare to this gem's content.

A new way of doing old things.
I bought this book expecting to learn new techniques entirely. What I found was things I already do, but different enough to make what I do far more interesting, and things work much more effectively when they're interesting. I've been finding this book extremely helpful, but it's not for beginners which I don't mind at all.

It WORKS
this book Apophis is a special book to me,it contains a Left Hand Path style of daily practice.Which is something weve needed since forever. It is based on the seven heads of the dragon each phase opening one of the seven heads .this book is not grim or dark its just good common sense.and it is very interesting just to read.but the real jewel is the daily practice ,it makes practice fun and something to look forward to.check out the facebook page and the Apophis Club Forum .It is clear that Mr.Kelly didn't just write a book but actually cares for his students. I look forward to purchasing the other books in the series.Thanks.

refreshing colored and eye-opening gem
Michael Kelly did an excellent job in presenting the so neglected serpentine mysteries. You should know that the curriculum is part of the so called Left-hand-path, and is for the few who dare to awaken the serpent energies within themselves. For those who expect a grimoire full of evil formulas, they will be utterly disappointed and certainly have no clue what the serpentine mysteries are about. What I especially like is that the author clearly states that there isn't a fast spoon-fed way to initiation in these matters, nor is it always a pleasant journey. This book presents a working and practical curriculum. It should take several years ,so not even a entire life to fully implement the content of this little gem.

Do.
I stumbled onto this book and its subsequent working titles a short while ago and find them to be wonderful relief from a lot of the new age drivel. Instead of simply writing about his topics, Mr. Kelly lays it all out there in what he practices. Trimming the fat and giving you a curriculum instead of a tired rehash of a thousand titles you'd find at a chain book seller with no depth or substance. I cannot recommend these books enough if the reader buys them for what they are intended for; doing.

Not for the faint of heart, you will know if you are ready for it by chapter 3
This is the book i have gone back to multiple times since i have had multiple questions about the Left Hand Path, and this one seems to answer it in the way i needed it to. Don't let the other flowery reviews fool you this book series is not for the light hearted.... I loved reading the books because it gave me the understanding that i was not ready for the path early on, however I will keep them for later on in my path of discovery into who i really am on the magickal path...

Well written
Some of the words were created "made-up" defined within the book but simple English words could have easily represented the definition . There was nothing new taught about the left hand path which I already have not learned from other writers .

Interesting
I had read his other book and loved it, still think the other book is better for learning more about the history of Runes. I thought this book would go deeper into the history which I really wanted. This book is very good at teaching moreon the exercises used in his methods. Although many of the exercises were familiar from other sources and some information is questionable. Still I found it very worthwhile and interesting.

and a good read for all adherents of the LHP
This book is a must for the serious magician. Insightful and informative, and a good read for all adherents of the LHP. It is excellent to see the Black Magicians of Albion are still at their work.Michael Kelly gets his message across without being too wordy, but inline with Wyrd. A flag to Individualist thought, and a taste to Seek the Mysteries.

LHP must-read book
The Left Hand Path is a magical path that is built over the separation of the Self from the external world. This makes of this path magicians highly independent and creative individuals. There is no author that resembles one another. To read Don Webb's or Austin Ausman Spare's or Kenneth Grant's or Peter Carroll's books, to mention some of the best, is to come into a very different way of understanding and practicing magic. It is not that they are not influenced by other authors. It is just that they have developed their own way of practicing magic that is different from any other.Apophis is a book about the LHP, but it is different in one important detail. Michael Kelly not only has developed that unmistakable way of doing magic on his own, he has also predated in all magic currents, not minding if they are Right Hand Path, LHP or Sorcery, and he has built a coherent system of initiation that uses most of the useful exercises that different schools of magic has developed. The book is easy reading. With clear concepts and a very well developed system of work through the different parts of the human being. No part is forgotten. From the body to the immortal Self, every part reclaims its importance in the quest of the magician.Don't be mislead. This is not a book for everybody. The apparent simplicity is just that, apparent. and this kind of magic is only for a reduced number of people. For the practiced magician, it will take him back to the basic of his long years training to prepare him for a jump into a world of unknown consequences, a world where the Eye of the Serpent is the Void that eats the world. For the new ones who want to introduce themselves into LHP magic, it will give them all the introductory work to start mastering this difficult art.The author does not hide himself behind a mask. He shows what he has mastered and what is yet beyond his skills, putting his goals in, apparently, impossible things. But what is a magic book if it does not want to go beyond the possibilities of Reality?Strangely enough, the only thing this book lacks is rituals. But once it is read, the reason is clear.I think it is one of the "must-read (and practiced)" book in the LHP magician training.
