Selena - Greatest Hits

Great songs and video!!! Yes, I highly recommend this product.

If EMI Latin wanted to release a collection full of her English songs, then they should have thought that while trying to put her Dreaming of You album together since it was originally going to be comprise of all English songs. I guess they wanted to include her Spanish songs on Dreaming of You just to show how versatile she was and introduce the world to her signature songs. Just slapping this release with "Greatest Hits" is just not appropriate, lazy, uncreative, and misleading. When you think of her "greatest hits", you think of "Como La Flor", "Amor Prohibido", "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom", and "No Me Queda Mas". Apart from "Dreaming of You" and "I Could Fall In Love", I don't consider most of these English songs on this compilation to be her true "greatest hits". A true Selena fan knows that her greatest hits were mainly her Spanish songs. It was a great effort to release a collection of all her English songs. They did sounded like sure fire hits. I wish EMI Latin would have a made her crossover artist from the very beginning of her career instead of waiting so long to make her into one til it was too late. By 1989, she had already showed that she was a well-developed singer who had so much potential. Screw that "she needed to build her own fanbase first" excuse. She would have been very well able to develop a fanbase just the same way. She had the voice and she was a wonderful performer. She had all the incredible makings of a pop star. It never took so long to make Gloria Estefan a crossover artist. She was already one in the beginning of her career. I don't see why her label had to deny Jose Behar's request. He was right about Selena being "Gloria Estefan in the making". Well, enough about my rant, as I had said before this release had a great collection of her English songs, but I wish her label could have been more creative with the title like her other compilations..."Unforgettable", "Momentos Intimos", and "La Leyenda".

I grew up in Corpus Christi, TX, Selena’s hometown, and unfortunately where she was killed. I remember the day after she died, kids in school were crying and hugging each other. I asked a friend about it and she told me of Selena’s tragic death. I didn’t know who Selena was back then bc I’d never listened to Tejano music. But her impact on the community was amazing. I was near the cemetery the day she was buried and the line of cars with people waiting to pay their respects was huge. I’d never seen anything like it. A few months later, of course, her crossover album was first released. The radio stations played her songs all the time. I wanted to buy the cd for ages. It took me a while to understand Selena’s impact on the people of Corpus Christi but I finally did. She wasn’t just a talented girl from Corpus who made it big, she made it big by bringing Tejano music to many, like myself, who’d never really listened to it before. As far as people from Corpus are concerned, she belongs to them. I realize this cd doesn’t have her Tejano music on it and I will have to buy one that does. Unfortunately the actual crossover cd takes 2-3 months to arrive so I may have to buy another of hers that just has Tejano just as this one has mostly English songs but I’ve loved her music since I finally became acquainted with it. I wish I had become acquainted with it earlier. She was a truly talented woman who deserves the admiration that the people of Corpus Christi give her.

I love this CD it has a lot of songs my Grandmother loves! I finally found a CD that my grandmother and I sing along to! I’ve always loved Selena Quintanilla! I have over 20+ shirts with her on them, I’m actually ordering Posters/Pictures of her as well on here! But this is truly one of her greatest hits cd! Just wish they had some of her Spanish songs on here but hey this works for me!

Sound was great

I was very pleased to get my Selena Great Hits CD from Amazon, I have been a huge Selena fan for over 16 years and I will cherish this CD forever!, Although I have purchased Selena's "Ones" CD and Amor Prohibido CD as well as "Dreaming of you", This is a great addition to my Selena CD collection, Huge Selena Fans like myself will really enjoy this CD for many years, Five stars for this CD!!
