This lap desk is one of my favorite purchases on Amazon. I purchased it during Prime Day. It was labeled as small business, and I did my research to find that this was from a real small business. I don’t like to buy something from a small business that isn’t actually a small business because I find that it’s false advertising of some sort. That being said, I love the quality and build of this lap desk. I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks now and have found it incredibly useful and reliable. It is built well, using what feels to be strong enough materials to support the lap desk in different angles using the two panels on the back. I love how there is two of them, so you can adjust the desk part using a more exaggerated lift and angle or you can use the more subtle panel which is shorter so that the angle isn’t as obvious. I’m not sure if how I wrote that describes it well, but it has multiple viewing angles using those panels and then in the actual base are little slots to stand those panels in, which I have found study and very stable when using it. I’m actually using my iPad with a keyboard on it right now while laying down and it’s serving its purpose quite well. I love the little pull out bar or whatever it is (it says the brand’s name on it, LapGear) that’s toward the bottom end of the desk surface itself and the silicone or rubber material bar along the top so that whatever you’re writing on or typing on doesn’t slip or slide around. The silicone/rubber is helpful when using something that is bigger so that it sticks and stays put, whereas if you’re using a laptop or tablet, the LapGear bar is helpful to stop whatever you’re using from falling off the desk top and into your lap. It’s great if you’re laying down or your body is at an angle that would prop he lap desk itself on an angle. However, depending on your keyboard’s standing height, the LapGear bar might be a tad uncomfortable when typing. I don’t personally have any issue with it, but I know some people might find it irritating and too high itself to allow comfortable typing. There is also a mousepad, which I haven’t yet used, but it feels like fairly good quality, especially for being attached to the lap desk itself. There’s also a slot next to the mouse pad, which is useful for a stylus or pen for notebook or a tablet/laptop pen, along with a slot for your phone above the mousepad, which does lift up to allow access or close so that’s the surface is completely flat across the lap desk. The underside of the lap desk has two cushions, one toward the top and another toward the bottom, with the top one being more cushiony. I think they’re well-padded, but not too much where it feels too stiff or hard and makes it uncomfortable to have on your lap for a longer duration. I think it’s perfect for anyone in school, working from home or just chilling out and getting anything done using this lap desk. It also does have a carrying handle attached to it, which I think is good quality. It doesn’t feel as if the lap desk is so heavy that the handle will rip out of the seams and is comfortable enough to carry if you’re travelling or just moving to another room. Overall, I’m incredibly please with my purchase from the LapGear company and sooo glad that I took the time to find one that seemed a good build and perfect for most settings I’d need to use it. I definitely think based on how much I’ve used it so far in just two weeks that I will be able to use it for quite a long time before needing to buy a new one. Also to note, I rated it 5 stars for sturdiness and ergonomic traits, but for lightweight I gave it 4 stars, because while it isn’t heavy in my opinion, I also don’t think I’d say it is lightweight. Just wanted to explain that as well. I’ll also say to be cautious when you put it down or lean it against something while you’re not using it. As with all things, even of great quality, things can have a longer life with good care of them. I definitely would recommend this to friends who work from home for sure!

My last lap desk, which I loved, finally gave out about a month ago. That was a weirdly dark day, mostly for reasons involving sunflowers and poison control that I won’t get into, but sic vita est. Now don’t get me wrong, it did have some help dying (okay, a lot of help, from a tiny person who loves to peel things off of other things; this doesn’t always work out, and I’ll leave the rest to your imagination), but its demise left a vacancy that required immediate filling. I mean, I used that desk a LOT. Which brings me to my subsequent Indiana Jones-esque search for the holy grail of lap desks, whose thoroughness would put Harrison Ford to absolute freaking shame. Because I’m going to level with you, folks. I spent WAY too long researching this before buying. As in, hours and hours of my life that I will never (I’m just realizing) get back. Yeah …. It’s fine. I’m fine. So this is for those of you who don’t want to go through that yourself. (You’re welcome.) Here goes: I specifically bought this version of the lap desk instead of the newer 2.0 version, because I wanted more adjustable height options (this one has twenty, versus the 2.0 version’s nine) and I needed the pen slot. And yes, I realize that “need” is a strong word for a pen slot in a lap desk, but if you’re going to judge me then it should probably be because I once ate a chocolate cupcake with a Cheeto on top, and not because of this. But anyway. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised. I’d been a little bit worried about the quality of the plastic, but it’s actually really sturdy. The handle is good, the size is good, the mouse pad is good. Is any of it going to go down in the history books as having revolutionized lap desk technology? I mean, no. Not really, but it’s still good. I use this with my iPad Pro 11” with the Magic Keyboard folio, and I usually keep my planner/notebook on the mouse pad instead of an actual mouse (hence “needing” a pen slot). I’ve used most of the viewing angles already, because no, I *haven’t* found a better hobby than adjusting my lap desk every five seconds (fine; you can judge), but in my defense, I’ve gotten very good at it. I love how all the slots have a cover that folds down. It really makes the writing surface even. The phone slot actually holds my iPhone, even while it’s in its case, as well as the Apple TV remote (both at the same time, side by side). I was worried that the silicone grip bar at the top of the lap desk would annoy me, and I even thought about cutting it off; but it works very well and I use it all the time now. I thought I wanted a lap desk with a zipper pocket for pens or a charger, but it turns out that I didn’t and I was just temporarily insane from the hours of scrutinizing lap desk “features” online, and had convinced myself that I needed to buy the One Perfect Desk That Has Everything. Spoiler alert: I really didn’t, you really don’t either, and this one isn’t just fine. It’s great. You should probably just get it.

This was a great product, especially for those who like using their laptops while on a couch or in bed. There are a couple things that I'd like to see improved upon, but a great stand nonetheless. Pros: *Size: This was the perfect width for a 14" laptop and a wireless mouse on the side. This might also work with a slightly larger laptop. *Cushion: The bottom cushion was easy to manipulate to work on all surfaces at nearly every angle. *Comfort: The number of angles that the stand can be adjusted to along with the cushion means that you can use your laptop from almost any position. *Phone holder: I didn't think I'd be using it much, but it turned out to be pretty handy. Cons: *Fixed mousepad attachment: This wasn't a flaw, but I'd like to have the option to detach the mousepad to improve mobility (fitting inside backpacks or if you just don't need it). *Stand stability: I admit that this could be a result of improper handling on my part as this hasn't been an issue since the first week I purchased this, however I found that the stand used to maintain the angle of the laptop holder would break off while trying to angle the stand. It was easy to snap back in, and it hasn't happened in a while, but it was concerning/annoying until my handling of the stand became a little gentler. *Laptop holder lip: This is my biggest gripe and something which I actually see as a design flaw. For most laptops this won't be an issue, but for anyone who has a clunker for a laptop or a gaming laptop, the lip which keeps the laptop upright is short enough that a slight change in angle of the stand will result in the laptop falling off. This is annoying, possibly painful depending on how you're using it (like falling off the lip and onto your groin) and could even be a danger to the laptop. Price: I purchased this while it was on sale at $30 and it was still a little more than I really wanted to pay, but worth it overall. However, I would never pay the regular price of $40; maybe I'm just cheap but that's just too much money for a laptop stand

Love this lap desk! Having my laptop at eye level has helped ease my neck tension tremendously! The mouse pad is a nice feature as well. I find it’s easy to type when my laptop is propped up at an angle. I can sit comfortably on my couch or in bed and work without any neck and upper back strain. Best investment while working on my bachelors degree!

I had an old wooden artwork easel I used on my lap for when I would want to draw in bed. Needless to say, it smelt of wood and was awkward when I decided to draw in the comfort of my own bed. So, I got this product. Was pretty excited when it got delivered to my door, popped it out the box and it was ready to use. The many angles I could set my monitor in for drawing was perfect, added with a little holder to keep it upright and from sliding around. The bottom is pretty cushy, hardly makes me feel like there something sitting on my legs/lap. The mouse area is just perfect for when I'm browsing the internet and sleek. The best part is the pen and phone holders. A lot of the time I lose my surface pen since I added the ergonomic grip to it and it lightens the magnetic snap to the side of my Surface Book. This fixes the problem and is the perfect divot in that I hardly am bothered if I switched to my mouse. Phone is the same way, I tend to misplace it ALOT. All in all, very happy with my purchase and for a great price compared to the laptop desk I once bought from Best Buy for $50 and all it had was maybe the phone holder to give it some comparison. 5/5 Stars!! This is pretty amazing. I'd tried a couple of these portable desks. One was a narrower lap desk, with a cushion in front of my laptop, one was about this size, but with folding legs. This one blows the others out of the water. If you care about looks, this is arguably not the nicest, as the top is basically just a slab of plastic with some foldy parts and an integrated foam mousepad, unlike some other offerings with wood or fake wood, faux marble, or some other textured surface. However, this plastic desk is lighter, and I'd say more functional than most wood versions I've seen, as those generally don't come with provisions for adjusting the angle of your laptop. And despite being made out of plastic, this one is surprisingly solid. It also turns out that the "phone" stand or mount is big enough for a smaller tablet, for instance a 7" or 8" Fire Tablet. Me, I currently have an old 7" Fire Tablet sitting in the phone slot, and I'm using the tablet as an extra screen for my laptop. I guess what I'm saying is that, at least for me, this lap desk is in the goldilocks zone; it's not too big, not too narrow, not too flimsy, and not too heavy. It's enough for basically everything I need when I'm working from the couch or a recliner on my porch. I even think that being able the raise up the back of the laptop may help with airflow a little (although I am considering drilling a few holes in the foldy bit, as I think that might let air from the laptop vents pass between the raised part and the rest of the desk, when I've set it at an angle). I also think that the smooth plastic surface is a lot better than some all-fabric lap desks I've seen, which I'm pretty sure will trap hot air a lot more than the plastic plates of this desk. Essentially, it's the best lap desk I've tried, and at about $40 bucks, it's one of the cheaper ones I've considered, making it what I'd consider of excellent value. The only really useful improvement I could suggest to the manufacturer, is to add some vents to the plastic plastic plate that holds up the laptop.

I bought both the grey and the black desk from this vendor. NOTE: The grey one has kind of a bean bag pad for your legs and the black one has two pads which are a little more stable. I returned the grey one because although it was pretty nice the angle kept changing... especially when put on a side table. It was so unstable I worried about my laptop falling off accidentally. The black one does not have this issue. Now for the good. (or great) I have bought many many lap desks. I am an IT person and use them a LOT! This one checks all the boxes. The size is nice (the laptop raised part exactly fits my Auss 16" laptop. The angles are super adjustable and the small ledge at the bottom to secure the laptop is the perfect size. Others have a pad or large piece to hold the laptop that is intrusive usually in the spot where your wrists would be. This will help prevent any carpal tunnel issues. The mouse pad remains level as the elevation for the laptop increases. This is a bonus. The back of the mouse pad has a opening for your phone. This is padded and works super well so you have all your 'electronics' available in one place. I am impressed. I am very critical and this one just does everything right.

I spent a long time deciding which lap desk to get. This one had everything I was looking for, but now that I have it, I am seeing the shortcomings. The little lip that folds out to keep the laptop from sliding when using it in an elevated position is too short. One of our laptops has an angled edge, and so it slides over the lip, even at the lower positions. The other laptop slides off if we use it in a higher positon. If the fold-out lip was a few mm taller, I don't think the laptops would slide over the top. Since they slide off at higher positions, it limits the functionality of the product. My other issue is that the tray for a phone is too small to hold even an iPhone SE 2 (one of the smallest phones out there) in a case in landscape orientation or portrait orientation. I got this so my son could watch tutorials on his phone while he uses his laptop, so it is a bummer that it doesn't fit in the landscape orientation, and it won't fit in portrait either. I gave it 3 stars because it is lightweight and seems of decent quality. However, the lack of ability to use the phone holder and the full range of heights for the laptop means that I will probably start looking again for something that better meets my needs.

I use this when working remotely (laptop) and watching online shows (tablet). I suffer from neck pain arising from prolonged screen time (looking down at the screen). With the visual height adjustments of this Lapgear, I can easily elevate my screen view and reduce stress on my neck. The cushions at the bottom are fine but would have been better if they were made of medium foam.

Best laptop tray in the marketplace. I have been looking for a tray like this forever and will be placing another order for FIVE of these for Xmas gifts. What do I like about it? Everything! I have had a few other trays over the years and nothing can compare. I work on my laptop every day for most of the day and it is life changing for me. I can now comfortably work anywhere I choose with everything at hand, at exactly the right angle and without anything sliding. I also love that it is sleek, lightweight and contemporary with perfect surfaces!

Es muy comoda y estable. Tiene unos cojines en la parte de abajo y una base para la laptop que puede elevarse si se desea. Puedes trabajar sentado en un sillon con los pies en el piso o con las piernas extendidas o cruzadas y manipular muy bien el mouse. Tiene un soporte para el celular y cabe bien con todo y la proteccion. Mi computadora es de 15.6’’ y queda con espacio suficiente en el area del mouse. No pesa mucho y la superficie es de plastico. Tiene una pestaña que sostiene la laptop por la parte de abajo. El area del mouse es corrida. Ahi no tiene nada que lo detenga, pero la superficie es como de tela y no se resbala. Me gustó mucho.
