InVade Bio Drain 1 Gallon (Original Version)

TL;DR: THIS STUFF WORKS! If you’re dealing with tiny flies all over your house that land on food, swarm your pet’s bowl, and seem completely immune to vinegar traps — this stuff might be your answer. I had what turned out to be a phorid fly infestation (confirmed by identifying them up close — small dark flies with a noticeable little proboscis). They were everywhere: on my food the second I sat down to eat, on my cat’s wet food as soon as I’d open the can. It was absolutely disgusting. I’m a very clean person, and this sent me over the edge. I started out with two Zevo plug ins, and added two more, which helped some, but just barely. Then I read phorid flies are attracted to CO2, so I purchased a Dynatrap. Vinegar traps caught nothing, which in hindsight makes sense since phorid flies aren’t attracted to vinegar. The breeding source turned out to be a shower drain in a bathroom I never use. Once I found dead ones collecting on the shower floor, I knew that was the spot. What worked: I poured boiling water down the drain first to loosen everything up, then added this enzyme cleaner and let it sit overnight, covered the drain in between treatments so nothing could escape back into the house, and repeated the treatment every 2-3 days for about one week. I treated all 8 drains in my house, and this bottle had plenty for a week’s treatment. I also ran a Dynatrap continuously in the room with the most activity, which helped catch adults while the enzyme cleaner worked on the larvae at the source. Within about a week I noticed a real difference, and by two weeks I’m down to seeing maybe one fly every couple of days instead of a constant swarm. If you have a rarely-used drain anywhere in your house, check it — that stagnant, untouched water is exactly what these things breed in, and regular drain cleaner won’t fully solve it the way an enzyme-based one will. You have to break the reproductive cycle on these jerks, which I read can last up to a month, so you have to be patient, and make sure to follow the directions on this enzyme cleaner. Just putting this down the drain once isn’t going to do anything. Highly recommend for anyone dealing with phorid flies, drain flies, or fungus gnats from a neglected drain.

My apartment has always had gnats in the summer, no matter what I do. For context, it’s never a full infestation, but one would always randomly pop up every few days all summer. It was frustrating to deal with, and I tried all of the insect traps, but they kept coming. I pretty much purchased this out of desperation, but I’m glad I did. I poured it into the kitchen sink, bathroom sink, and tub. There was no odor, and it drained without issue. Do note that you will have to clean any spillage that doesn’t go down the drain. I didn’t notice any immediate results with the gnats, but after I reapplied it a couple of days a week for a few weeks, they finally stopped coming. It was amazing. I personally have not noticed any damage to the pipes, but I would also not call myself a plumber either. I do know it is expensive for what you’re getting, and I do go through it quickly, so it’s just a matter of whether it's worth it to you.

July 31st we ordered and August 1, 2023 arrived Invade Bio Drain. We were having an invasion of small flies (not sure if they were gnats or phorid flies). We purchased different kinds of devices to control these pesky visitors. The last device is pictured here. This trap would quickly fill up and we would have to replace it every other day (see photo). At wits end, we searched the internet and came across this product, Invade Bio Drain. We followed the instructions of every other day and started seeing results in the first week of using it in every drain (including the dishwasher). Now here we are, August 29, 2023 and we barely see anything flying around (see 3rd photo; this has been this clean since yesterday. Previous to using Invade Bio Drain, this trap would have looked like the first photo by now). Now we are using Invade Bio Drain once a week I guess for preventative measures? The only thing I disliked was not having something to dispense the Invade Bio Drain as instructed. Do not pour this straight down the drain. Make sure to pour this so that it is coating the sides of the pipe. But I see photos of squeeze bottles used by other consumers that look like it helps on the application and coating the walks of the pipe. Not crazy with the price but after being inundated with small flies, we would give an arm and a leg to stop the invasion. But this was a GREAT purchase for us!

I Love this product! I used it in my dishwasher and garbage disposal in my apartment there was this lingering odor and this product worked like a miracle. I keep a bottle around for maintenance now. I’ve treated every drain in my home and it has worked every time, clears clogs, leaves a fresh smell. I definitely recommend it! This is a really great product! ♥️

I saw this somewhere on Social Media and thought I would try it!! I’m glad I did. We just moved to a new built home and was shocked at the amount of gnats that were in the drains. We were seeing them dead on the floors and windowsills daily. It took 3 applications for it to work, but it worked!!! I put boiling hot water down the drain first and then the gel next. Buy it, it works!!!

Does not work, been using for a week and the number of flys have lessened, but not gone totally away. I even threw out my shower mat and sealed drains at night. I suggest u get some thing stronger

I tried a different version that had a higher rating and it was not good. I used this product daily for four days and all the flies are gone. A week later I saw one or two pop-up and they used it again and it has now been three weeks and nothing.

Bought this product to try to ELIMINATE fruit flies (or drain moths - hard to tell the difference). Read several reviews and this stuff seemed to be effective - or at least highly rated. I am AWARE that the drains were supposed to be mechanically cleaned beforehand, but that was simply not possible. Besides, how far back down the drain is one supposed to try to clean? All the way to the septic tank? So I took a shot, hoping that it MIGHT be effective without mechanical cleaning. No such luck. After using almost a whole gallon - over a few weeks AND at a cost of about $40.00, I cannot see that our situation has improved at all. So what to do NOW? Buy another gallon? I think not. Probably time to move along to another product. It's a bummer when you think (from reading the reviews) that a product will work, and then it lets you down - but I guess that's just how it is. My advice to you? Don't buy this stuff. Instead, hire a pest control guy who will guarantee results... You'll be better off in the long run. Like I said -> "Somewhat disappointing"....FredT
