Yes it IS oversized.
Normally I wouldn't write a review for a cover plate, but since so many people said this cover was not oversized, I felt the need to do this. I uploaded 4 photos. The first one shows a fairly large gap on my garbage disposal switch. The second photo shows how this cover plate COVERS that gap. The third photo is a STANDARD size cover plate that does NOT cover the gap. And the fourth photo shows this cover plate installed and below it is a much MORE oversized cover plate that I did not like because it actually looked TOO big. The switch kind of looked lost in that cover. Maybe I'm just really picky, but whatever. So my point is that this switch plate is LARGER than a standard plate and slightlysmaller than some other brands oversized cover plates. The smart thing to do is MEASURE the opening you need to cover and buy the correct size plate.Update: It looks like the order of the photos changed when my review went live, but I think you can figure it out.

Decent, but a little thin
I'm not sure if this was intentional, but the plastic used to make this is thinner than I expected and therefore somewhat flexible. I read that this helps prevent cracking. It looks good, white and shiny, have not had to clean it so far in one year of use. The quality is good enough and the price was great. It came with white-painted metal screws but my husband replaced those with nylon ones to reduce static in the household.

slightly over sized
They are oversized but not as big as i had expected. I bought the oversized socket covers too and they were nicely oversized and good at hiding flaws. Still happy with the oversized covers.
