Calculated Industries 6335 Scale Master ProXE Advanced Digital Plan Measure with PC Interface

This is very nice. Works with my Mac plug and play. I used it to do take offs on blue prints. It is easy to use and sends the data directly to a spread sheet where I can manipulate it they way I need to. the cord is plenty long and it has a nice hard case. It can also be used with out connecting it to a PC or Mac.

Fast. Accurate. Take-off information added right to your spreadsheet with the touch of a button. Have the PC interface Scale Master at work and the Scale Master without interface at home. Company is exceptional. My first Scale Master started acting up so I sent it to Calculated Industries for a repair (very reasonable rate too!). They simply replaced the old with the new. That's service.

excellent excellent excellent! this tool is great for estimating!!! incredibly accurate and very easy to use! it will cut your estimating time by half at least and reduce errors!! the auto count feature is worth its weight in gold!!!!

Edit: Below is my initial review from 2011 and my original purchase. I still really like the unit, but as with devices things tend to wear out. After 5 years of use some of the buttons didn't always want to work, specially the PC button that sends the info to your computer. Not an issue for me as that is probably the button I use the most.. My issue was that I purchased two more in March of 2016 as replacement. Both units had the exact same problem in that the screw that holds the wheel in place came out of the unit. I'd screw them back in, but they would work themselves out. After the 2nd one had the same issue as the first I ended up having to contact Amazon for replacement. 1st time I've ever had to do that with anything I've purchased from them. ----------------- 2011 review For those that are used to using an electronic scale device, this one is the Cadillac. Pros - Easily connects to a PC, with the press of one button it sends your numbers to excel, remembers your last take off so with the press of one button twice you can just add to that number. It has 5 scales that can be set to 'whatever scale'. By that I mean if you get plans that are out of scale, you use these to set the scaler to the scale of those plans. I've used this almost daily for over a year and the batteries haven't worn out. Cons - I didn't buy a wireless version, and sometimes the cord gets in the way.

I bought this for my husband who is a General Contractor. He absolutely loves it and recommends it to anyone who is working with plans.

Very easy dependable not complicated

This is great for doing quick dimensioning for conceptual estimates. But if I'm looking for accuracy, I go to the old "A/E Rule" method. The drawback in using the Scale Master is that you must start and stop each pass at the exact same angle. If you tilt slightly, you'll be off. And depending on the scale, that could make quite a difference.

Do a lot of take offs and this tool is extremely valuable for that If you read prints or do material take off this is the ONE you want to buy Has a usb hook up to upload your tak-off directly into the computer in several programs VALUABLE TOOL
