Smells awesome
My honey has sensitive skin and he works doing construction so it’s hard to find soap that smells good and moisturizes while being gentle on the skin I do recommend and I will buy again

No more itchy, dry skin.
So far, I have only used one bar of this set. In the past I always used Ivory or Dove for men. Now that I've reached a certain age I noticed that my skin itched like crazy and was super dry.The one bar of Purelis that I am using is great. It does a good job of cleaning, smells good, and I don't feel so itchy and dry after a shower. It is great stuff.

The perfect soap?
I jumped the gun on this soap and gave it less stars than it deserved. I love trying out new soaps on my own personal quest for the perfect one. When I first tried this I tried the coffee and oatmeal bar and I was not impressed with the smell compared to other good quality soaps. It was ok for me but not the best. Then I tried the cocoa butter African soap and I was pretty blown away by it. It's not my first African soap but it is my new favorite. I took 5 or 6 showers and each time while washing and leaving the shower I said to myself "wow I better update my review." I have begun to resmell all the other bars and am eager to try them out but for this bar it deserves 5 stars. Thank you very much for a great product. Highly recommended.

Sick of plain vanilla flavors? Try Purelis-Men's!
Hey, guys. About six months ago, I set out on a mission to find an economical, natural soap for men. I tried over 20 sets of soaps. If you’re interested in reading a comprehensive review of these soaps, look up my review under Crate 61-For Him. Then come back to this review to read more about Purelis-Men’s.The BasicsPurelis sells three sets of soaps; each set comes in a six-pack. Although the focus of this review shall be on Purelis-Men’s, I’ll include observations on the other sets as we go along. To begin, here are some basic stats on Purelis-Men’s. All stats are as of 1/1/23.• Price/pack: $19.95• Soaps/pack: 6• Ounces/bar: 4.5• Price/bar: $3.33 (Since soaps come in all sizes, you should really look at the price/ounce to compare different soap brands.)• Price/ounce: $0.74• Scents (my descriptors): masculine, earthy, and fruity (I give specifics below.)• 4-5 Star Rating: 80% (Combines the percentage of people giving the soap a four- or five-star rating. I only considered soaps that rated over 80% on this criterion.)• # Ratings: 341 (The total number of ratings received. I only considered soaps with hundreds of ratings.)I don’t understand why, but the price of the other two sets is much different from the Men’s set. The Handmade set has a regular price of $37.99, and the Aromatherapy set has a regular price of $29.99. The base soap is the same in all three; what differs is the fragrance and the colorants that are added to each. Thus, it seems odd that the prices of these sets vary so widely. In any case, the one that interests us the most is the Men’s set.It turns out that Purelis-Men’s was the best deal (per ounce) of all the sets and all the brands that I tested as part of my study of men’s soaps. The Soap Sets & ScentsMen’s Set• Scents: Coconut & Aloe Vera**, Cocoa Butter African Black Soap*, Activated Charcoal*, Olive Oil & Pine Tar, Coffee & Oatmeal, and Dead Sea Mud & Sea Salt• This soap is marketed to men.• These soaps have mild scents.• The overall qualities I would give these soaps are “earthy,” “fruity,” and “masculine.”Handmade Set• Scents: Papaya & Mango**, Rosemary & Tea Tree*, Lavender & Aloe, Vanilla & Shea Butter, Pink Peony & Argan Oil, and Dead Sea Mud.• This soap is marketed to women.• These soaps have moderate scents.• The overall qualities I would give these soaps are “masculine/feminine” (depending on the scent), “fruity,” “earthy,” and “flowery.”Aromatherapy Set• Scents: Coconut**, Papaya*, Lemongrass, Lavender, Vanilla, and Ylang-ylang.• This soap is marketed to men and women.• These soaps have strong scents.• The overall qualities I would give these soaps are “feminine”, “fruity,” “earthy,” and “flowery.”**My favorite scent in each set.*Other scents I liked.A choice of scent is something very personal, so your favorites might end up being quite different from mine. If you want to stick with the safe bet, try out the Men’s set. Although I liked some scents in the Handmade and Aromatherapy sets, many of the scents in the other two sets were feminine and probably wouldn’t appeal to most men. If you have a female partner, you might buy the other two sets and share the soaps; this way you could try them and see if any appeal to you. Finally, if some scents appeal to neither of you, a good alternative to throwing them out is to use them as hand soaps. The IngredientsAll Purelis soaps have the same base ingredients: palm oil, glycerin, propylene glycol, sucrose, shea butter, olive oil, coconut oil, purified water, and essential oils. What makes each soap bar different is the essential oils added to it to give different soaps different scents, as well as the colorants that are added to give different soaps different colors. Although “colorants” isn’t listed in the ingredients, I highly suspect that colorants are added to the soaps because all Purelis soaps have very bold colors. Natural soaps have very little color or neutral colors. What is natural? In my review for Crate 61-For Him, I explain in detail my definition of “natural.” In a nutshell, a natural soap should contain essential oils, other natural ingredients like shea butter, and no unnecessary ingredients such as the following: additives, fragrances, micas, colorants, and, of course, unpronounceable chemicals.I evaluated over 10 brands of soap. If I were to strictly adhere to my definition of all-natural, Crate 61 is the only soap in my study that would qualify. Dr. Squatch also qualifies as all-natural, but it didn’t make my price cut (i.e., it is not economical). All other soaps fail my definition in one way or another.Be attentive and take the time to read the ingredients. Here’s what you may find on the ingredient list and what should/should not be of concern:• Lye may be included in the ingredients. Be aware that lye is used to make soap, but there is no lye in the final product.• Glycerin*: I’m not an expert soap maker, but my understanding is that glycerin helps to preserve the moisture in your skin and prevents dryness.• Oils: All soaps have one or more oils in them. Some form part of the base soap, and others are essential oils used to give the soap its scent.• Shea butter: This is often added to soaps to make them more moisturizing. Purelis soaps contain shea butter.• Additives: Sometimes this is listed with no further explanation. Demand to know what is added and for what purpose. These are unnecessary.• Fragrance: In a natural soap, the scent should come from the essential oils in it. Thus, if only “fragrance” is listed, demand to know what was added to the soap.• Micas: Micas are powders made of minerals. They add color and glimmer to soaps. This is an unnecessary ingredient.• Colorants: Demand to know exactly what is added to the soap to give it color. This, too, is an unnecessary ingredient. I highly suspect that Purelis adds colorants to its soaps.• Exfoliants: Exfoliants buff away dead skin and make skin softer, but they can also scratch, scrape, or cut the skin.• Chemicals: These can vary from brand to brand. Purelis, for example, adds propylene glycol to its soaps. This chemical is supposed to help your skin retain moisture. I leave it to you to investigate this chemical and whether you’re willing to accept it in an “all-natural” soap.*From what I read, all soaps contain glycerin, but some contain more than others. Glycerin is naturally produced as part of the soap-making process. However, some soaps contain more glycerin than others. Those that have a high concentration of glycerin call themselves glycerin soaps. These are easily identifiable because they are translucent. In the end, everyone’s definition of “natural” is different. What ingredients one is willing to live with are different. And how far one is willing to stray from one’s definition of “natural” is different. How far from YOUR definition of “all-natural” is Purelis given that it adds propylene glycol and colorants to its soap? You’ll have to decide that for yourself.More on the Purelis-Men’s SetLet me focus a little more on the Men’s set since this is the set that’s most likely to appeal to the men reading this review. These are the scents included in the Men’s set:• Olive Oil & Pine Tar: I have a thing for unusual, original scents, and this one certainly qualifies! As I searched for men’s soaps, Purelis-Men’s is the only one I’ve seen with this flavor, and it was one of my favorites; however, it may be too unusual for some.• Cocoa Butter African Black Soap*: Don’t worry; you aren’t going to leave the shower smelling like chocolate! The soap has a fresh, clean smell that’s unique; I can’t even describe it! All I can say is that I couldn’t get enough of it.• Activated Charcoal*: This soap is known for its ability to purify the skin. It has a very subtle scent that may be barely noticeable to some, for activated charcoal soaps have little to no scent.• Coffee & Oatmeal: You can smell the coffee in this one! While I like coffee and its scent, personally, I don’t want to smell like coffee coming out of the shower. However, there are many people that enjoy this flavor.• Coconut & Aloe Vera**: The coconut in this set and the Aromatherapy set were among my favorites of Purelis’ soaps. Coconut has a mild and pleasing scent, and coconut oil is great for your skin.• Dead Sea Mud & Sea Salt Soap: This soap is supposed to do wonders for your skin, including detoxifying, hydrating, and reducing inflammation. This soap, too, has little to no scent.**My favorite scent*Others that I likedPart of the fun of trying different soaps is discovering what you like and what you don’t like. Some scents will knock your socks off. Others will clearly repel you. And some you will smell and say, “Meh, I can take it or leave it.” Here are my favorite scents:• Fruity flavors, particularly those of the citrus variety• Coconut• Eucalyptus• Mint• Patchouli (men either love it or hate it)• Pine Tar (men either love it or hate it)• Tea Tree (great for deodorizing the body and keeping your skin clear)But that’s me. As you try different soaps, you’ll discover the ones that make your all-star list!Purelis Sets Versus Sets of Other BrandsHere is my list of my top 10 soaps. The percentages in parentheses are my own personal ratings.1. Age of Sage-Masculine (85%)2. 360 Feel-Men’s (84%)3. Crate 61-Citrus (83%)4. Crate 61-For Him (83%)5. Age of Sage-Fruity (81%)6. Crate 61-Popular (81%)7. Crate 61-Dry Skin (80%)8. Age of Sage-Galactic (79%)9. Age of Sage-Macho (77%)10. 360 Feel-Fresh (77%)Purelis soap sets didn’t make my top ten, but they did rank in the top 20.Purelis-Men’s Versus Sets of Other Brands for MenHere’s how Purelis-Men’s stacks up to other sets marketed to men.1. Age of Sage-Masculine (85%)2. 360 Feel-Men’s (84%)3. Crate 61-For Him (83%)4. Age of Sage-Macho (77%)5. Bali-Masculine (74%)6. Purelis-Men’s (73%)7. Natural American-Soldier (72%)8. Natural American-Elements (71%)Purelis fell somewhere in the second half of the group. However, keep in mind that this list represents MY personal preferences. You might try Purelis and conclude that it deserves a much higher rating. Here’s some general advice to help you pick the one(s) you might want to try:1. Age of Sage-Masculine: strong earthy scents2. 360 Feel-Men’s: moderate earthy and fruity scents3. Crate 61-For Him: mild to moderate earthy and fruity scents4. Age of Sage-Macho: moderate fresh scents5. Bali-Masculine: mild earthy and fruity scents6. Purelis-Men’s: mild to moderate earthy scents7. Natural American-Soldier: mild fresh scents8. Natural American-Elements: mild earthy scentsI clearly prefer soaps with stronger scents, and I prefer earthy scents over fresh scents. However, your preferences might be different.Purelis Versus Other BrandsHere’s how Purelis stacks up to other brands.1. Crate 61 (82%)2. Age of Sage (81%)3. 360 Feel (80%)4. Bali (74%)5. Dr. Bronner (73%)6. Purelis (73%)7. Natural American (71%)Purelis ranked near the bottom. I reiterate that these ratings reflect MY personal preferences. Your rankings could be different. In my review for Crate 61-For Him, I provide additional reflections on these brands.Strengths and Weaknesses of PurelisHere are the strengths of Purelis:• Has several truly unique flavors.• Good for your skin.• The most economical soap set for men on my list. Here are the weaknesses of Purelis:• Purelis adds propylene glycol and colorants to its soaps; both are unnecessary and stray from the ideal of an all-natural soap.• While I really enjoyed the unusual scents, my guess is that most guys will find some of the scents to be too unusual for their taste.• You can only buy Purelis soaps in sets; they don’t sell the soap singly or in sets of a single flavor (e.g., a six-pack of Coffee & Oatmeal).Would I Buy Purelis Soaps Again? In my own personal ratings, Purelis scored high for its original flavors and competitive pricing. However, in the end, I don’t think I’d buy Purelis soaps again because of the propylene glycol and the colorants in the soap, especially since lots of excellent, more all-natural soaps are on the market. However, as I stated earlier, how far one is willing to stray from one’s definition of all-natural is a very personal choice. If you take away one lesson from this review, let it be that you shouldn’t decide to buy a soap based on someone else’s opinion. Your standards, skin, and nose are very different from mine, and you might go nuts for Purelis! My Recommendations for Purelis• Eliminate propylene glycol from your soaps.• Eliminate the colorants. If you use colorants, disclose this in the ingredients, and tell us exactly what you add.• Sell the soaps singly or in sets of a single flavor. If I were giving out prizes for “most original flavors in men’s soaps,” Purelis would win the top prize. Other manufacturers offer what you might call “plain vanilla” flavors in that they are flavors that I see again and again in men’s soaps. On the other hand, Purelis’ flavors are truly unique.Want More?Look for my individual reviews of these soaps in the next three weeks, and remember that a comprehensive, overall review of these soaps is posted under Crate 61-For Him.• 360 Feel-Men’s (complete)• Age of Sage-Masculine (complete)• Bali-Men’s (complete)• Crate 61-For Him (complete)• Dr. Bronner (8-pack variety set) (coming soon)• Dr. Squatch (10-bar, Set 2) (complete)• Natural American-Soldier (coming soon)• Purelis-Men’s (this review)A Final NoteNow go out there and find the soap that’s right for you!
