Great for replacing broken spikes on older vinyl shutters
I moved into a home that had several issues of which some loose vinyl shutters came with it. Luckily the shutters were on the first story and easily reached by a small ladder. I had to drill a hole in the shutters with a regular drill bit at the location that was hitting a mortar joint in the brick, then get a concrete drill bit to drill a hole for the spike to go through. Make sure you drill the hole as far as you can......if you don't, the spike will stick out of the front of the shutter and not serve a purpose. The grippers on the spike are designed not to pull out. After drilling the hole, simply place the spike in and tap in with a rubber mallet.

These look great but durability is very poor
If these are installed with each pin holding the same amount of force and weight they will work just fine. But! if you have to adjust the shutter during installation the load is shifted to one or another pins causing early failure. These pins last me 12 to 18 months and I am back at it! The pins that carry the most load go first and the rest eventually follow. LIFETIME? is a joke and we all should know that. Use metal screws with caps not these cheap pieces of plastic that break and you will have to order again and again. Look good but hate getting on the ladder every 12 months.....
