I had a Tel-Tru in my Big Green Egg for a number of years until it broke. Since it did a good job I ordered another Tel-Tru BQ325R here on Amazon. Unfortunately, the Tel Tru that I bought was leaky and within a short period of time there was water in it. Drops of water, not just a little bit. If you look at the reviews for Tel-Tru it's not an uncommon complaint.Bought one of these because the Tel-Tru failed and it's worked really well. It's accurate - compared it with another thermometer that clips on to the grate and most importantly it doesn't leak. Have had it out in the weather and the inside is as dry as a bone. Another big benefit - this thermometer is significantly less expensive.Next time I need a new one for my Egg, I'm getting another one of these. Why spend twice as much for a lousy product. Tel-Tru has really dropped the ball.

Original green egg thermometer was 10+ years old. This one has worked just as well.

Loved the size and “readability” of the thermometer. Bought in December and worked just fine for the first 6 to 10 grill uses. However, as of the end of January, the reliability of the readout has failed. I tested the readings in a boiling pot of water. Temperature never climbed above 150 degrees. Since there is no way to calibrate or adjust the readings, I basically have a worthless gauge on my grill. I have since replaced.
