Nice size, durable, long cord.
This portable ssd drive is a nice size; not too small not too large. the cord is a plus for this item; nice an long; not one of those short ones just a few inches long. This cord is 18 inches; YES! Finally not a micro length cord. the copy write speed is very good; speedy downloads and backup copy of files and documents. Easy to take on the go. The product is very well built. I use one for my Linux box pc also; no problems with partitioning so far. I should be able to dual boot into this portable ssd with my LinuxMint OS. So far so good; no problems. time will tell if this ssd drive will last or not. Some of the other portable ssd drives did not last very long.

Great, portable, fast SSD useful for many different things
I've apparently bought 3 of these over the past year or so (just recently realized this). Each one has been for a different use. The first time I bought one was for the most basic of uses - backup storage for family photos. We of course have cloud storage, but for some reason also like to have a physical backup just in case something ever happened with our online accounts and the pictures are of course irreplaceable. The second time I bought one was for a Tesla Model 3 DashCam. I had been using some other flash drives, but the Tesla requires fairly fast write speeds. So this has been plenty fast for that use (I had tried other drives which I thought met the write speed requirements, but maybe those were peak). I didn't want to have any recording issues if something were to happen. The most recent time I bought one of these again, was to actually improve my 2019 iMac that has an absolutely atrocious 5400rpm old fashioned hard drive. Considering I don't use my iMac for much besides internet and MS office, I never thought it would be a problem. But once Catalina came, it fell off a cliff. It should never, ever take 2+ minutes to load MS Excel. So I used this SSD to flash a backup copy, installed the newest OS on it, and instructed the iMac to load from this external SSD (there are articles on how to do this). And wow, it's like having a new computer. Runs plenty fast and loads all my apps rapidly. One of the easiest fixes I could've ever imagined (no way was I going to take the iMac apart myself, and I didn't feel like paying the $$$ for Apple to upgrade it). Hard lesson learned on hard drive quality, but glad I found an easy, relatively cheap fix.

Real World HP Backup File Transfer Speed For Samsung Portable SSD
Recently I purchased two 500G SSD drives in order to create more reliable back ups for my two computers. My objectives included reasonable price, reliable brands, and USB C connections. The two drives were:SanDisk 500GB Extreme Portable SSD - Up to 1050MB/s - USB-C, USB 3.2 Gen 2https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08GTXVG9P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1SAMSUNG T7 Portable SSD 500GB - Up to 1050MB/s - USB 3.2 External Solid State Drivehttps://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-Portable-SSD-500GB-MU-PC500H/dp/B0874XJL6M/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Roll+over+image+to+zoom+in+SAMSUNG+T7+Portable+SSD+500GB+-+Up+to+1050MB%2Fs+-+USB+3.2+External+Solid+State+Drive%2C+Blue+%28MU-PC500H%2FAM%29&qid=1612032896&s=electronics&sr=1-1The Sandisk was used for creating a time machine back up on my Imac; late 2017 vintage, Intel Core i5-7400, 7th Generation, 16G RAM, 500G SSD with Thunderbolt 3 ports. The Sandisk came nicely packaged. It is very small and the opening through the back of the drive makes it easy to “hang” on the back of the imac so that it is out of the way.The Samsung was used for backing up a new HP Pavillion, Intel Core i7-1165G7 11th Generation, 16G RAM and 500G SSD hard drive with Super Speed USB A and Super Speed USB C ports. The Samsung was beautifully packaged, similar to what you might expect from an Apple product. It was also very small but slightly larger than the Sandisk. The Sandisk was able to do a 129G time machine backup in 40 minutes on the mac. It became noticeably warm but performed flawlessly when connected via its USB C output to the Mac’s thunderbolt input….3.3G/minuteThe Samsung was able to do a 229G file transfer in 60 minutes from the HP. This was accomplished using a right click and then the "send to" command. It became very warm but performed flawlessly when connected by it’s USB C output to the HP USB C input….3.8G/minuteAlthough neither drive performed anywhere near their rated speed, they were much faster than the conventional HDD drives I own and light years faster than thumb drives.I would give both drives two thumbs up. I prefer the Sandisk for the Mac because of the ability to easily hang it off the back. As for the Samsung, it is so nice looking and feels so good and is so nicely packaged that you would probably prefer this drive if it is going to be setting out and visible all the time. Realistically, you wouldn't go wrong with it either. Highly Recommended.

Has worked well with 2014 MacBook Air
The software application you can (but don't have to) use with this is relatively useless, save perhaps for update notifications. Otherwise, performs very well, with surprisingly fast transfer rates from my laptop (it being 7 years old now, so understandably not known for high speed). To make constant plug-in possible, I've attached easily-removable hooks to the exterior of my laptop and hang the hard drive and its cord from them. This keeps the USB end from disconnecting if the hard drive falls (cord is pretty short). What it did not do was clear enough room on my laptop to upgrade to macOS Big Sur, which was the goal - but that is the laptop's fault, not the hard drive's (the current OS on my laptop simply won't free up enough memory to make the upgrade possible). I don't regret the purchase, though, as it will buy me some time before I have to update to a new laptop, and considering that cost, this is an inexpensive and vital interim aid, as it has made it possible to completely backup my current machine with the free software (Time Machine) that came with my Mac - something I couldn't do until I had room to make that happen. That peace of mind alone was worth the affordable investment.

Small, fast, almost great.
So far the drive is working well. I'm using it mostly for photography, so a lot of frequent file transfers, saving, editing, sequential and random read and write operations. I'm also using it with USB C and USB A 3.1 cables. This is definitely a smooth experience with capture one pro. File imports are very fast and so is saving generated previews.USB C with MS surface pro is getting blazing speeds as measured, to 99% of advertised. Getting about what's advertised with USB A 3.1The only issue I have with it is that it gets Hot when in use....

Very nice, very fast; my new preferred drive
I formatted this with ExFAT, because I needed to use it with Mac, Linux, and Windows.Unlike most USB drives I have tested, this drive doesn't seem to throttle down the write speed with small files. That is very good. With 1000 samples of 10 MiB each it averaged a write rate of 410 MiB/sec and a read rate of 440 MiB/sec. I did that 3 times in succession, with the same result. That is with a USB-3 port. With large files, writing did slow down somewhat, but it's still fast. With 100 samples of 1000 MiB samples each, the write speed throttled down from 460 MB/sec to a steady rate of about 250 MiB/sec, after about 11 to 21 GB. It remained at that speed for the duration of the 100 GB test. That is still very fast, and you can fill the whole drive with a backup in a fairly short time. The read rate remained the same.I think this will be my new preferred drive.(Tested with Gnome Disk Utility UDisk 2.7.6)

Excellent if you have USBC
I got lucky buying this external drive. I am a gamer and my main drive was getting full and I wanted an SSD drive. So I bought this one. But I ended buying a usb expansion and two things happen with me realizing it. First was the expansion being a usbC expansion. 2nd even though you can connect this drive to regular usb ports, but you will not get the top speed unless you have a usbC port. I didn't know my PC had one until I looked at the USB expansion that I bought and realize it was usb C and found a usbc connector right in the front of my pc case. Connected it and that to the drive and the results has been amazing. I installed Cyberbunk 2077, Witcher 3 and many others and the loading speed is excellent. SO very good drive, but you will enjoy it more if you have USBC.

One word- Speed!!
I was running out of storage on my laptop, especially since I moved everything from my micro SD cards in my cameras etc to the laptop. I only just learned about SSDs and started doing research on it. I liked what I saw and decided against the external hard drive. My goodness was that ever the right choice. I could hardly be more satisfied with the speed of this device. The first night I used it, I moved about 40- something gigs in about 6 minutes. Trust me when I say there's no going back to hard drives after you experience this thing. If there's one glaring negative from my experience, it's that the Samsung app is shit and there doesn't seem to be and fix in sight so I wasn't able to move straight from phone to ssd but it's a minor gripe compared to the benefits of the device. A lil expensive too, but small, fast, durable and reliable. Great purchase

Speed and Quality is Insane for the price!
I got this product the 500 GB variant on Dec 17 only for $105.The delivery and shipping process was amazing and the product arrived in a brand new condition and arrived earlier then the first delivery date i was given which was amazing. Its been a weak now and it works amazing. I tried it on my windows dell laptop with the USB A port and it works amazingly fast. I also tried it on my phone which is a motorola g7 power which first had some trouble connecting. In fact, I accidently ran an android refresh on it which had erased all the files that I had saved on the device which was kind of annoying but now I can access my files on my phone which is great. It was a minor inconveniance that all my files were deleted in setting up this device on my phone and was not appearing on google files so I had to delete google files and made it appear. But, now it works and I'm happy. I was impressed by the size and weight which are perfectly compact. The size is like a credit card but slightly bigger and doesn't really get hot but just warm which is perfect. I tried pairing this on my old Ipad that I had bought in 2017 5th gen ipad so I can use a big screen to read books that I have saved on the drive, i got a usb c to lightning port cable from walmart which did not work on the samsung device. It didn't even power on that was really dissapointing. If it connected then it would have been perfect. Now, I'm forced to purchase an android tablet in the next coming years instead of just being able to use the ipad that I have now and save a couple of 100 bucks. It works amazing on my windows dell inspiron laptop and my moto g7 power phone. I also bought some command product velcro like strips from walmart that make it really simple to stick on my laptop and my phone and that pairs perfectly! Now i must purchase straps so it can fit in my pocket with the wire and that would be great! Overall I love this purchase and it really speeds up my 1 TB HDD computer! Just wished it could work on the Ipad tho
