The Heat
"The Heat" is a great movie that I find myself watching time and again. While the language may not be suitable for all audiences, the incredible chemistry between the two lead actors steals the show. The dynamic between them adds a perfect blend of humor and camaraderie, making the movie thoroughly enjoyable. I love how they play off each other and their styles of getting the bad guy. What sets this film apart for me is the portrayal of strong women roles. The characters are not only hilarious but also empowering, showcasing that women can lead in action-packed comedies with finesse. The humor, combined with the strong performances, makes "The Heat" a great watch. Overall, a fantastic movie that I highly recommend for those looking for a good laugh and empowering character dynamics, especially the bar scene:)

Might Be The Most Hilarious Movie I Have Ever Seen
I normally don't buy DVDs. But after seeing this movie a while back I had to buy it. It is so hilarious! Melissa McCarthy kills in this movie. You are hooked from the beginning and it just gets funnier. I think this is by far Melissa's best movie to date. Be sure to watch past the credits at the end, some really funny stuff there as well. This film was so hilarious that I found myself rewinding it just to watch Melissa's facial expressions again so I could crack up more. And Sandra B. is very good in this too. I never thought of Sandra B. as very funny until I saw this movie, but she does a good job and the two of them together are a priceless match. You would think it was a chick flick but I know several guys that loved it as well. Everyone loves this movie. I will admit, there are a lot of Fbombs in it as some of the other reviewers have stated. So it is definitely not for your uptight types. But if you like to laugh a lot, this should do it. I am not exaggerating when I say I think this is the funniest movie I have ever seen. Get it! Or give it as a gift. Nothing better than the gift of laughter! And if you are mad or depressed or just cranky, this is an instant happy pill. :)

The Heat is a great movie.
Prim and Proper by the rules Sarah meets foul mouthed Shannon who ignores rules to get the job done her way and this ignites the fuse bringing the two immediately in conflict with one another. Sandra Bullock (Sarah Ashburn) portrays a very clever FBI agent with an uncompromising attitude who is at odds with her co-workers. She appears to know-it-all and lets those around her be aware of exactly how she feels. Cracking her last case and feeling pretty smug about it, she hears about a promotion in the works. When she asks about this, she is given the opportunity for the promotion and all she has to do is go to Boston and bring down a drug lord’s operation as well as him and his accomplices. Being the person she is, this is a piece of cake to her as she sets off to do just that. She feels she can do this quickly & without difficulty. However she did not know she was going to fun into the Boston Cop, portrayed by Melissa McCarthy (Shannon Mullins) From the moment she took Shannon’s parking space she is in for a very rude awakening on how things work in Boston. Shannon is also alienated from her co-workers and will not work with anyone else. She is abusive and will not take guff from anyone. Their meeting is explosive. Though they cannot stand one another they agree to work together on the case. Thus begins the great acting talents of Sandra and Melissa. This is one of the most hilarious movies I have seen in a long time. Good Story and great acting. Though they begin as enemies, they become great friends. Sandra’s character loosens up and begins to enjoy life. The two women work the case wonderfully and as they do, there is a lot of laughs. I enjoy Sandra Bullock’s acting and also Melissa McCarthy. They are both fantastic in what they do. The Heat is terrific and I will watch it many times. I was sitting in my front room and out of nowhere came bits of this movie and I found myself chuckling as I envisioned some of the antics of these two women.

Bosom Buddies
Imagine a head on collision between two Law Enforcement loners: one, big, brash and ballsy; the other, prim, proper and pretty--both female and neither able to keep out of the other's way and you have the serial Buddy Cop Flick. The chemistry created here is Oil and Water....no romance, just a raucous, raunchy romp with a refreshing twist on the good-cop-bad-cop theme! Initially viewers are introduced to Boston PD street cop Shannon Mullins(Melissa McCarthy). Hysterically funny in her "duty" she is overly endowed with "street cred" but obviously shortchanged on Estrogen; her manner is loud, abrupt and incessantly profane. FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) is so smug and pedantic her co-workers avoid her like a patch of Poison Oak. As reluctant partners thrown together by an inter agency assignment, they set out to locate and apprehend a notorious drug kingpin who holds Boston in his bloody hands. There is an abundance of really funny physical comedy here and some hilarious lines delivered with rapidity between Officer Mullins and her unfortunate targets (especially Agent Ashburn!) however all too often the punchlines are drowned out by seemingly unnecessary profanity (there are MORE "F words" thrown around here than a Tarrantino script). Our two Lasses are fighting one another for a good 2/3 of the film until they unite following a traumatic family event. Now it really goes over the top and delivers a spectacular (and of course predictable) funny ending.......... One of my favorite scenes involves Sarah accompanying Shannon home to visit her estranged (outrageous and hilariously DYSFUNCTIONAL) family (who knew?) and learning a new language.........also who could forget Officer Mullin's apartment in the neighborhood drug apartment complex with her Rambo-like motif. All in all edit a few scenes that were WAY TOO LONG, and curtail a lot of the cussin' and this is a first rate cop comedy that works!

Funniest movie I've seen in a long time.
I love Sandra Bullock, and while I never saw Bridesmaids, had seen Melissa McCarthy in Identity Thief (in which she was hysterical). This movie was laugh-out-loud, miss part of the movie you're laughing so hard funny. I saw it four times in the theater with different girlfriends, who all loved it. I had hesitated to take my husband, due to the abundance of F-bombs, but ended up taking him, too, and he loved it. There were two little white-haired ladies sitting two rows in front of us who also seemed to get a real kick out of the movie. The premise and plot of the movie was sound, giving a great framework for Bullock and McCarthy, who played off each other very well. I continually admire the smart roles Bullock picks, and she didn't go wrong here, letting this movie be more of a platform for McCarthy's comedic talent while Bullock played the "straight man." As a woman, I appreciate that Bullock doesn't mind taking roles that play down her looks - she doesn't always have to be stunning. Here, she's great as the uptight by-the-book FBI Agent with relational issues and a perfect foil for McCarthy. McCarthy's performance is sheer genius, bringing to life what could have been a very two-dimensional character. A cop who does things her own way, yet hides a mushy heart under a very prickly exterior. The plot involves problems that put her family in danger - a family who would make the Griswalds look angelic by comparison - and McCarthy showed her acting chops in these parts. She's more than just funny. Of course, her funny is what steals the show and makes this a movie where the jokes don't get old no matter how many times you watch. If foul language bothers you, you might want to give this a pass, though that's really personal preference and the only critique of the movie. It didn't bother me, but I'm inured to the f-word at this point. I liked how it added to McCarthy's dialogue and wouldn't change a thing. It's a plot that's been done before, many many times, yet Bullock and McCarthy are able to give it a fresh spin. It was refreshing to see a female-bonding movie that was funny and still real. In the hands of lesser actors, this script wouldn't have been nearly as good a movie. As it is, it's definitely in my top five funniest movies I've ever seen.

The Heat: A Smoldering Duo of Comedy and Chaos
The Heat is an action-packed comedy that takes the familiar formula of mismatched buddy cops and turns it on its head, infusing it with humor, heart, and a delightful sense of chaos. Directed by Paul Feig, known for his work on Bridesmaids and Spy, the film taps into a refreshing blend of laughs and thrills, driven by two of Hollywood’s most charismatic actresses: Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. At the heart of The Heat is the unlikely pairing of FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Bullock), a by-the-book, uptight officer who is brilliant but socially awkward, and Detective Shannon Mullins (McCarthy), a brash, foul-mouthed Boston cop with little patience for authority. On paper, they seem like an odd couple — one obsessed with rules, the other happy to break them — but their dynamic turns into a comedic tour de force. Sandra Bullock plays Sarah Ashburn with her trademark wit and precision, but this time, she dials up the discomfort of a character who is just out of her element. Ashburn is the type of officer who solves cases by playing everything strictly by the book, relying on her intellect but lacking any real social skills or street smarts. Bullock’s impeccable comedic timing and straight-faced delivery provide the perfect contrast to McCarthy’s more uninhibited, let-it-all-hang-out approach. What could easily become a one-dimensional character is given surprising depth by Bullock’s performance, making Ashburn relatable in her awkwardness and loneliness. Then there's Melissa McCarthy, whose performance as Mullins is a force of nature. McCarthy plays the tough, no-nonsense cop with such gusto and joy that it’s impossible not to be swept up in her energy. She’s unafraid to push boundaries, which makes her interactions with Ashburn even more hilarious and awkward. McCarthy has always been great at playing characters who don’t fit the mold, but here, she nails the role of a woman who doesn't apologize for being loud, brash, and imperfect. Her performance is a perfect foil to Bullock’s more restrained energy, and together, they form an unlikely but incredibly lovable team. Their chemistry is the heart of The Heat, and it's a joy to watch them transform from adversaries to partners. The contrast between their personalities fuels much of the film’s humor, but it also drives its emotional core. The film never loses sight of the fact that, despite their differences, Ashburn and Mullins are ultimately two women trying to find connection — one in the form of professional success, the other in the form of friendship. There’s a vulnerability behind their humor, especially in Ashburn’s need to prove herself and Mullins’ struggle with being underestimated by her colleagues. This unexpected emotional depth, woven into a riotous comedy, elevates The Heat from being just another buddy cop flick to something that resonates on a more personal level. Feig's direction brings out the best in both leads, letting them riff off each other with plenty of room for improvisation and physical comedy. Whether it’s McCarthy hurling insults or Bullock's reaction shots to McCarthy’s wild behavior, the film thrives in these moments of unscripted chaos. Their banter is quick-witted and often absurd, but it never feels forced. It’s a testament to both actresses’ improvisational skill and their impeccable chemistry, which ensures the comedy feels fresh and organic. The action in The Heat also plays its part, delivering just enough to keep the story moving without ever overshadowing the comedy. There’s enough chase sequences, shootouts, and tension-filled moments to satisfy the action junkie, but these elements never eclipse the film's central focus on the evolving relationship between the two women. It’s this balance between comedy, action, and character development that sets The Heat apart from other films in the genre. The Heat also gets points for being a rare instance of a female-led buddy cop film. It subverts expectations by refusing to lean into stereotypical female tropes. The women are tough, flawed, and unapologetically real — no romantic subplots to be seen, just two women getting things done, but doing so in their own, messy way. It’s a refreshing break from the male-dominated action-comedy genre, and its success is a testament to how well this concept works with the right chemistry and direction. The supporting cast, including Demián Bichir as a straight-laced fellow officer and Michael Rapaport as Mullins’ family member, bring added flavor to the mix, but it’s really Bullock and McCarthy who steal the show. The camaraderie between their characters is electric, and their dialogue is sharp, quick, and packed with laughs. In the end, The Heat is far more than just a silly action-comedy. It’s a smart, funny, and heartwarming film about two women learning to trust, open up, and work together. It may not break new ground in terms of plot or structure, but it offers something better: a thoroughly enjoyable experience, propelled by two actors at the top of their game. Whether you’re here for the laughs, the action, or the incredible chemistry, The Heat delivers on all fronts — and leaves you hoping that Ashburn and Mullins will be back for a sequel.
