Clear lens filter to help protect lens glass
Great all-around filter to help protect my expensive Canon lens glass. Using a lens like this on top of your expensive lens glass is essential because its is cheap to replace the filter, but NOT the expensive lens!!! This filter has a good weight and quality to it and has held up very well. The threading is cut very well so it screws on effortlessly. I would highly suggest screwing on the filter tight, but not so tight that you cannot unscrew it easily without too much pressure. I replaced my original filter because I accidentally hit something with the edge of the lens, but since the filter was the new edge, only the filter was damaged. However, the filter was screwed on SO tight that when I tried to unscrew it to replace it, it was almost impossible because of how tight I made it originally. Also, this filter will not affect image quality (I'm a professional photographer). I highly recommend cleaning your lens glass and the filter both before installing the filter so that no dust or particles get trapped in between. You will need to clean that area regularly since dust will still find its way in there! PROS ⢠Good weight/quality steel rim and thick glass ⢠Very inexpensive ⢠Easy and effortless to install ⢠Does NOT affect image quality CONS ⢠No matter how right you screw the filter on, dust will still find a way in there over time so make sure to only tighten to the point where you can easily unscrew and clean regularly.

I've had bad flaring on these cheaper filters in bright light because ...
Okay. Very clear and has minimal impact on IQ in most situations. I've had bad flaring on these cheaper filters in bright light because they are not multi-coated like the B+W ones, which cost about 8-10 times as much, so I won't knock this for not having multi-coating. It's a given for a budget UV filter. Modern cameras actually DON'T need UV protect like film cameras of olden days. The reason you would by this is simply to protect your camera lens front element from scratches. In other words, these UV filters give you peace of mind while helping increase the resale value of your lenses. Take note that this filter is not made of brass but aluminum, which is totally expected given the low price. Aluminum tends to BIND to other aluminum filter. Happened to me more than once with these cheaper filters and I'm NOT very happy. But as long as you're aware of this downside and are okay with it (either because you have no need to stack filters or you're super careful of not screwing them on too tight), this is a decent layer of protection for your lens. Recommended if you're on a tight budget like myself. For the rest of you guys, get a B+W for crying out loud!!!

Perfect fit - inner and outer threads have the same diameter (55mm for my lens).
Amazing UV filter for my Nikkor 18 - 55 mm lens with diameter 55 mm. You can find the diameter of your lens etched on the inside of your lens as soon as you remove the lens cover. This filter arrived on time and in perfect condition. No damages at all. ā I normally use UV filter as a lens protector. It makes it easy to clean up the actual lens, prevents dust particles from getting into the lens and also protects the lens from scratches and cracks. ā This UV filter is extremely good in eliminating the effect of UV light from the images. UV light is the reason for the blurred Halo appearance around light sources in most pictures. I've attached a night photography picture that I took using this filter on my lens. You can see that there is no Halo effect around the light sources. This means that this UV filter is very good in filtering out the UV light and hence makes the pictures sharp and perfect! ā The inner and outer thread sizes are of the same diameter (55mm in my case). This means that you can attach this filter on to a 55 mm lens and stack up another filter (say ND filter or CPF) of diameter 55 mm on top of this. But because of the stacking of multiple filters, sometimes Under extremely bright conditions I did find the appearance of a very tiny vignette ring on the edges of some of my pictures but I could eliminate it by just shifting the camera angle. I just mentioned one extreme case. Otherwise I could not find any disadvantages of this UV filter! So on conclusion I would say that it is always good to use a lens protector for your DSLR since lens repairs are extremely cost and time consuming. Also, it is heartbreaking for a photographer to encounter a cracked lens (speaking from experience..). Considering the price, this UV filter would do the lens protector job perfectly while also filtering out the UV lights from your images. I loved this brand so much that I even got the same filter with a different diameter (58 mm) for my long range lens. That works perfectly too!!
