OAR Secrets Study Guide: OAR Exam Review for the Officer Aptitude Rating Test

Reason for the rating is there is no probability information. I took the test a week ago today and on the math section every question I had except one, were word problems, there was probability, averages, and other long word problems, there was also one logarithm problem. There is a good amount of Mechanical and Reading information but the Math section needs a serious update. The Practice test is descent but maybe put in 1 or 2 more practice tests with different questions. From pages 117-127 needs to be cut down a lot, its repeating and there is a vast amount of half blank pages, I counted at least 6 pages that were either 1/4 to 3/4 blank. Pages 128-143, personally I don't see why its in here but I can understand why some people need it, it needs to be cut down to half or less, 15 pages on overcoming test anxiety and overcoming your fear of math is an extreme amount of repeating. I feel cheated and upset that I paid $30 for a book that I will only be using once and on top of that using only 2/3 of the content, now I have to find something to fill the gap on the math portion. On Amazon, it says that there was 156 pages, when I got the book there is only 144. Suggestion, update the math section and put more practice questions or cut the price to $15-$18. I just looked at the link on the last page of the book, it basically says that to keep the length of the book to a minimal go the this site for additional material and it sent me to the digital version of pages 128-143, this is space that could have been used for another practice test.

Read the study guide. Reviewed it a few times. Scored a 44 on the AOR but was looking for a 48-50. The math, reading, and mechanical sections provide a solid foundation on what you need to know. I think the study guide lessons could have been more in-depth for the math questions asked. There were some math questions that I did not know how to go about answering even if I was reading the study guide. The reading section could have been more accurate to portray what is on the actual OAR. In the study guide you read a long paragraph or short story for a couple questions. There is no such thing on the AOR. All reading questions are a short paragraph with 1 question. Also, the study guide does not mention how long you get for the reading section. You get 30 minutes. The mechanical section was the best portion of the study guide due to the vast subjects it reviewed and what was asked on the AOR. I would recommend this to use in preparation for the AOR but I would find other sources to supplement this material.

I just received my order and looked over a few pages. I was surprised to see what was there, and I can’t wait to complete the book to help me continue my future. However, being a visual learner and seeing picture examples is a huge plus, and I can’t thank whomever thought of that enough.

Great study material! Really breaks the material down to a science for better understanding! Absolutely worth it!

OAR Secrets Study Guide: OAR Exam Review for the Officer Aptitude Rating Test This study guide has a lot of useful information for reading, math, and mechanical comprehension. The math is very basic and should only be used as a refresher. The guide needs more complex problems, such as word problems, numbering sequence, and geometry. The OAR doesn't give many problems in the basic form, it gives more word problems and you have to set it up to work the problem out. The mechanical section is very good and goes into much detail like the OAR. Overall the study guide is good to get you started and should be used in conjunction with other guides. The video links to further explain the problems is a major plus.

The guide is an excellent tool to brush up on my knowledge of material that I have cover before in my walk of life. This study material has help me dust off the cob webs that I had; due to not really reading and/or working with this material in a very long time. Currently, I am on the math portion and have not touched the other sections. I am very confident in my math skills and I feel this may prepare me for (test) math portion. From the overview this book seems like a great path to follow.

I just stumbled into the material during my recent search for a better material after giving some others a look. I would say I am very well impressed with the material. It has a completely different positive and comprehensive approach on explaining the ideas and topics. One can never go wrong with it especially the comprehension part.Great material!

I studied this book and took the OAR for the first time. I scored average, but it didn't help me with what I wanted to score. I am officer material at least.The math in this book doesn't realistically prepare you for the math section in the OAR.The reading section did prepare me somewhat. My biggest complaint in this book is the math section.
