Penn Plax Bio-Floss Filter Media for Cascade 700 and 1000 Canister Aquarium Filter Pumps, 6-Boxes/36-Cartridges

These filters have made a difference from a cloudy fish tank and a clear pristine fish tank. I tried to make them myself using quilting floss, but that didn't work nearly as well as these did. With the cost of them in a 6 pack of 6 filters, I think I'm getting my moneys worth using them like this. I don't think that the little extra I spend more with these instead of the quilters floss will break the bank. The reasoning behind it is that with the special design of these, it made it very awkward to try and cut the floss to the right size. Also the floss seemed to kind of break apart. It didn't hold nearly enough of the debris and fish waste that these did. Plus the floss got stuck to the coarse filter sponge that the pump also has with it. So all in all, these are worth the purchase and I know I will purchase it again.

Im new to canister style filters. This one was very hard to prime and get going the first time. Took a long time to get all the air out and it kept cutting off and losing its prime then would start pumping again. It has now been running well. I haven't had any leaks and it really keeps the water clear. We use it for two large aquatic turtles. We turn it off to feed them and once finished eating then turn it back on. Downside is that its not an easy task to pull pump out of cabinet and unhook tubes and unlatch cover and try to pull out the internal caddy to replace filters/pads. You end up making a mess with spilled water etc. Does a nice job and I'm glad we got it.

I found this bundle deal very worth it. In store these single boxes are expensive as hell but online they are on average 9 bucks. This deal is worth the while because 1 box is 9 dollars and some change. This deal gives you 6 boxes for about 50 dollars and some change.

Not sure what changed but the texture is much coarser than in the past and stiffer. Still fits fine and seems to filter as well as before.

Hopefully my 10 year old filter will last as long as the supply of filters that come in this package. A good value though.

Good purchase if you don't feel like leaving the house every two weeks or so to buy them from the pet store, or if you want to buy in bulk. No complaints here, just that I wish I didn't have so much damn algae buildup. I would recommend these to other filter owning friends.
