I took a basic wiring class a few months ago, and wanted to replace this piece from a lamp we have in our bedroom. I knew the original piece had burnt out, since I replaced the cables and plug, and tried a different lightbulb, but the lamp still wouldn't turn on. It was easy to connect, and it works even better than the original piece, with the 3 settings for light output! We are very happy, and I was very proud of myself for having done everything correctly.

I had a vintage lamp that stopped working all of a sudden. Troubleshooting led me to the conclusion that I needed to replace the socket, something I had never done before. If you have a general grasp of how electricity works you will have no problem wiring up this replacement socket. It took me 5-10 minutes and now my lamp works perfectly again!

Ordered this as an upgrade for a 2-way lamp. It served as an easy and inexpensive upgrade.

Easy to install and a good value. The nob is so much easier to turn than the original. Worth the money. I would buy again.

I only needed the inside switch part to repair my lamp. The two outer brass parts weren't needed. I found it cost lesser to buy it this way, then if I purchased the switch by itself. It was a perfect fit! The knob unscrews from the stem and the stem was the right size to take my extended knob. My lamp now works great, no more blinking.

This device provides more than you really need. It comes with all the parts separated; that is the base, the sleeve and the actual 3-way switch. When I received it, I realized that all I needed to replace was the actual switch. So I disassembled the existing unit by twisting off the sleeve from the base, pulled the switch down out of the sleeve, replaced the switch (enormously easy) and reassembled the existing unit. Works like a charm. My existing twist knob fit this unit, so my lamps match perfectly The base and sleeve in this unit seem flimsier than the existing unit. Plus, there is no hole in the base for a set screw (which keeps the base from moving). My existing part has a set screw with a hole in the base for it. Don't take your lamp apart until you get this unit. Leave your base on and just wriggle the sleeve off. You'll agree with my approach!

I used this to replace a faulty three-way switch in the living room lamp. The construction of this part is better than what I took out. The metal was heavier. There are screws to attach wires, as opposed to the "plug and play" type. This conveys its own advantages. Properly done, the screw type wire connectors hold fast, and conduct electricity well. And since I can see it, I feel better about what's going on with the connection. The instructions are simple, and easy to use. I used a kitchen knife to strip the wires a bit, and a straight blade screwdriver to manipulate the screws. Within ten minutes or so from grabbing/unplugging the old lamp, "violá"! better than new.

Replaced one that failed within two years and this installed easily. We use for three way LED bulbs and it seems to work flawlessly. I do have some reservations on longevity as it can be difficult to turn, so have given it 4 stars instead of five. Will update if it excels or fails in the future. Update 4-15-20 Yup, it failed pretty quickly, considering the lamp only gets used once a day or so. I think two years or less may be the limits on these switches, so reduced to three stars for longevity failure. I purchased another one as replacing takes only a few minutes and is cheaper than a new lamp for sure. Be aware that the screw on fitting may not fit all lamps. I had to use the old base to allow it to be used on our lamp, but the new switch and cover snap fine into the old base.

This is a great replacement part. I had to replace my lamp part when the knob stopped catching, so no matter how many times I turned it, the light would not stay on. It was super easy to replace my existing lamp part with this one. If you have a screw driver, all it takes is loosening the two screws on the existing lamp part holding down the two wires, then loosen the corresponding screws on the new part, exchanging the wires, then tightening down the screws on the new part. Super easy and I got brand new results. Very pleased.
