not bad but not as good as the big names
They work and are ok quality but not as reliable as genius or battery tender, i have 8 of these and some times they just stop charging and have to be unplugged and plugged back in, its random and i think that the logic may not be as stable or robust and the big name brands. kind of annoying when you don't check on them every day. I also am a bit concerned they do not keep the battery as well conditioned as the Genius brand as the cars i have Genius maintainers on seem to last much longer from new. but i have only about 7 years of data so i cant be sure. i will say that this last batch i bought where defective so i am now buying other brands

I’ve bought 1 good, 1 bad.
My first Battery Doctor I purchased a few years ago and it has been great. The only issue is the power LED no longer comes on when plugged in. This isn’t really an issue for me as it still shows when it is charging. However I recently bought a second since I was happy with the first. Upon opening the Battery Doctor and plugging it in, I noticed that the back plate and the body were separating. This prompted me to remove the screws from the back plate and only one screw was keeping it attached. 3 of the 4 internal plastic posts that the screws utilize to keep the unit together were snapped. I’m not sure if this was a manufacturing issue, shipping issue, or what.Either way, I’ll be trying a different brand for the second maintainer.

It's up to you. Here's my experience with this charger.
I don't write a lot of Amazon reviews and, probably, I should write more because I have often found them informative and helpful.I am giving this item 2 stars, meaning I don't like it and here's why. I bought this specifically for charging and maintaining the 24V system on my Bulldozer. So, upon receiving the package I went out and hooked it up to the battery on my crawler. It showed error. Not good. OK I figure, maybe because it is an 'intelligent' charger it needs a minute to ID the battery (this is what the manual says, not me). No such luck. So I hooked it up to the battery on my Wheel Horse tractor (12V) and it showed charging. Eureka!, it does work albeit not like I wanted it to. So I go out this AM and once again, the error light is lit. I tested the battery voltage and it showed under 11.7V. Prior to using this charger on it, my tester showed 12.2V.Now, when I bought this it had a very small sales number and only a few reviews, mostly good, so I decided to take a chance. But, my issue is this, if I was going to sell my product through a retailer like Amazon, with the reach and potential influence their audience has, I would be making darn sure that every item I shipped was the best it could be, and bulletproof, if possible. I can't speak for others and don't know how well it has worked for them but I am sending it back and asking for a refund. I do understand that some times a defective product slips through but as I said, with the small sales figure that this has and the potential for it to become a huge seller at the price, in my opinion there is no excuse to place a defective unit for sale. You can rest assured, I have used any number of battery chargers and have one that is well over 30 years old, that works fine. I'm not going to spend 65-70 dollars on a shaky charger. The bottom line is it doesn't work as advertised and may even be a fire hazard. Who knows? I can verify that it throws sparks when you hook it up without being plugged in and anyone that knows about hydrogen gas can tell you that this could be an issue under certain circumstances.

Quality charger which worked very well
I have two vehicles currently 'garaged'. While I store them with the battery disconnected, it still drains as I sometimes am out-of-town for 6-9 months. I used this to charge both batteries recently and both vehicles started up on their first crank. One caution is that it can take quite a few hours to charge. It is a taper charger, so the supply current slowly drops as the battery charges. My first battery took about 10 hours, and the second took about 13 hours. While this was acceptable to me, and I think is actually a healthier way to charge the battery vs a fast charge, those that buy this should be aware of the time it might take. The charger does detect a full charge and effectively 'switch off', so there is no risk of overcharging, so it could just be left on overnight.

Problem with the first one this one is fine
Very high quality in my opinion. First one was dead after 1 day. Replacement has been great. I would buy again for sure if I needed another

Reliable
I use two of these chargers; one on a lawn tractor and the other on a dune buggy. Neither of these vehicles gets much use in the winter and the Battery Doctor keeps the batteries charged and ready to go. I've purchased three of these over the years and have never had a battery go dead.

Simple battery maintainer to keep your bike/generator/spare car ready to go.
Simple battery maintainer. This is the same unit that's sold under a different name at Menards and the like. I have one charging a generator battery and another topping off my sisters battery on her spare car. Pays for it self in a few months when your car starts when you need it. This can charge a dead battery, but it will take a few days.

Good Charger
I needed a 6V/12V charger and use it on house batteries on an RV Batteries now are $200 each so you really need to keep them charged and this unit will charge / then maintain. I tried using a 12 volt charger on 6 volt batteries and it over charges so you need one that switches between 6 & 12.
