EDIT - Alright so my full original review that I left a few days ago is below. A few hours after I posted it, someone contacted me and told me that it was indeed a defect and that he was sending me 2 replacement chains (one is a bit thicker than the other). I've had the chain on for about 15 hours now, I've been adjusting the pendant like normal, and it is holding up excellently. Still looks great and feels perfect! Just wanted to let everyone know that this is indeed a great purchase and their customer service is top-notch.ORIGINAL (had given 1 star) - I ordered this because the clasp of the necklace I had been wearing for over a year broke. I still love the pendant so my solution was to buy a new chain for it. I came home from work yesterday and put this on, and I absolutely loved it. The chain is light and elegant, it doesn't yank on the little hairs on the nape of my neck, and it looks beautiful. It even came with a cute little "emergency kit" that included earring backs, a polishing square, and jewelry bags.However, later that evening, I was simply adjusting the pendant on the chain while it was around my neck. I wasn't being the slightest bit rough with it and there was zero yanking. But the chain just broke in the middle. I don't know if I just got a defective chain or what, but this sucks because it really was a very nice chain. Just wish it had lasted longer than a few hours.

This is a comparison of two sterling silver chains, this one and one by Hawaiian Silver Jewelry, 925 Sterling Silver Italian 1mm Box Chain 16" Nickel Free. The Designer Sterling Silver chain is .8mm, and the Hawaiian one is 1mm.Price: The Hawaiian chain was $6.99. The Designer chain was $9.99. Advantage Hawaiian.Materials: Both are .925 sterling silver from Italy. Tie.Packaging: The Designer chain came in lovely packaging-- a silver gift box, tips for cleaning and caring for sterling silver, and a "jewelry survival kit." The Hawaiian chain came in small plastic bags with a black card inlaid with a picture of a hibiscus.Advantage Designer.Appearance: Both chains are very attractive. They are a bright, white, silver and shiny. The Designer one is ever slightly more slender, since it is .8mm and not 1mm. The box construction is slightly tighter on the Hawaiian chain and more open on the Designer chain-- i.e., the box links fit together very closely on the Hawaiian chain and a bit less so on the Designer chain. I'm not aware that one is better than the other (though it could be). Tie.Rings:The rings at the end of the Hawaiian chain are round. They look well soldered to the chain and secure. They are pretty small, which makes it a little hard to put the necklace on. That said, the small ring size is a bonus if you're trying to thread it through a bead or something with a small hole.The Designer chain has more oblong rings. They are fastened to the very last link of the chain. I have another chain with oblong rings that has a few links of the chain coming through the end of the ring. Fastening the ring to the very end is more aesthetically pleasing, though I wonder if it is as secure.Slight advantage Designer.Clasp:The Hawaiian chain comes with a spring clasp. The jump ring on the clasp is closed, but not soldered.The Designer chain comes with a lobster clasp. The jump ring is not soldered, nor is it properly closed (see attached picture).This should be advantage Designer because of the lobster clasp, but as it is, it's a wash.Overall: If the Designer jump ring were properly closed, I would give the Designer chain a very slight edge over the Hawaiian one. I can't comment on either chain's durability since I haven't worn either yet. I haven't decided which one I'm going to keep.

The chain is genuine 925 sterling silver—it has a tiny stamp on the clasp, just like in the product photos. Because the chain is .8mm, it has the delicacy I was looking for, but is still very durable. The clasp has proved to be very strong so far. Trust me—I am constantly taking my necklace on/off when I shower, workout, and go to sleep. It's still holding strong. Also, 16" is the perfect length for me. I love it! It's exactly what I wanted. And best of all, the price is *amazing* for the quality and the extras you get. Highly, highly recommended if you need a silver replacement chain!
