Good Starting Point
For those wanting to start learning how to play the Recorder, this is a good starting point. Technically, this is a Baroque Recorder. It's a lot more complicated than playing a flute. It needs very good breath control and very subtle finger-work. The aperture on the rear surface which is either fully or partially covered by the thumb of the left hand creates sharps, flats and octave changes and is super sensitive. If you place the thumb wrongly, you'll sound terrible!The sound is really good - I have recorded some pieces in combination with acoustic guitar and keyboards. No complaints about the sound.If you plan to upgrade later to a more expensive Recorder, I would say this is a great entry level instrument for learning the basics and mastering the nuances.PS: This is not a toy! If you give this to your kids, they can drive you mad with shrill discordant sounds. Be warned!

I tried 3 different make and Yamaha is the best interms of price /build / and sound quality. Beginners blindly go for this product,but choose whether u require baroque or German fingering.There is difference in tone between model 24b(bass) and 20.About this sellers they are friendly and they respond to our query in short time

The instruments are well made, durable, tunable (A=440, adjustable headjoint), Baroque fingering, included canvas carry bag and fingering chart, may be washed with Dawn dish soap.

Bought two extra ones for me and my youngest son. After my oldest son started taking recorder lessons. This is what they were given and I found them on Amazon great price and sound good!
