Looks classier than it cost
The wooden base (at least I'm pretty certain it's real wood), the metal fittings, the switch, and the colour scheme of the globe all look more expensive than the actual cost, so that has to be pleasing. When lit, it provides a welcome bit of illumination in my work corner, which is a bit gloomy even in summer. The light also makes it extremely easy to read the type faces even for old eyes like mine! Finally, I like the subdued antique colour scheme with the parchment coloured oceans instead of blue. I think it works better for an illuminated globe than the more conventional political map colours (there is a bit of subtle topographical shading too but it's basically a political map). The USB cord length is ample for most placements on a work desk like mine. The cord plugs into the globe using a standard sized jack, so could be replaced if the switch eventually fails, for example - not that this seems likely any time soon. I don't know the light source but am assuming LED since it runs so cool; therefore that should have a long life time. Certainly the illumination is very even. A good compromise between readability and not taking up too much space on an already crowded desk.

can't complain!
My husband loves maps and he was super happy to receive this globe for Christmas. It looks great, not plasticky, good quality, lights up very nicely, so far no complaints at all! :)

Nice but let down by equator tape
Really nice globe. The base is solid turned wood and the fixings are nicely finished metal. The labeling is really nice and clear. There is a USB power lead with an inline cable mounted switch. That's a really nice touch. It glows beautifly, I'd love to be able to dim it but it's still lovely. Now for the bad bit. Around the equator is a 1mm area that has not been printed on. This is covered by clear tape with a dotted line printed on. This has been applied badly. It lets light unevenly out and makes the globe look like it hasn't been assembled correctly. You can remove this tape carefully and re-apply it, but this can damage the printing on the tape. I used a permanent marker to touch it up after and it looks fine now.All the pictures are taken after i did this.Still worth the money in my opinion. but be prepared to get a little crafty on it!

impressive
this is a lovely globe, it has the look of a very old one in that it is parchment coloured but this is quite pleasing, and though I havent tried it, it is a present, I think it will look that much better when lit up, and great on a desk. it is neither too big or small, bit enough to read everything but not so big as to be cumbersome. I was really pleased when it arrived, just what I wanted.

The quality lower than expected
This is a nice globe for children and looks nice from a distance. Lights up well not too bright. Quality downside was that the stickers that the globe is made from didn’t touch and therefore left a gap between the equator which is more visible when lit up.

A regretful purchase
This globe, with the light on, is absolutely beautiful. Bought it for my son and he was delighted, bless him. However, after only four weeks after I bought it, the light has started flickering and it has become unbearable to have it with the light on. My son is disappointed and so am I. Noticed a few other people have had same issue. Wish I had bought another one now as not exactly cheap. Really rather annoying!
