Matt Lee's collection is astounding and this book presents a brilliantly curated collection within a collection. The photographs are beautiful, allowing each item to stand on its own and be enjoyed both for what it is and in it's context as part of an album, tour or time period. As someone who preserves historic objects for a living, I particularly enjoyed seeing how lovingly cared for Matt's items are, from the smallest guitar pick to pairs of trainers and drawings on napkins (an archivist's preservation nightmare!).Of course, the interesting objects are what readers will be most enthused by, but the anecdotes about how they were obtained or incidents in Matt's life that they relate to are what elevate the book and make it so entertaining and of interest to Stones fans, music fans in general and indeed those with an interest in social history.It's a delight from start to finish, genuinely difficult to put down and an incredible testement to the ingenuity and perserverance of its creator.

This book isn't simply a catalogue of the author's collection, but a history of the Rolling Stones' journey from their inception and an explanation of how each piece in the collection interacts with that journey. There's some incredible and very personal pieces in here, for example their first ever management contract and the vicar's typed and annotated address at Brian Jones' funeral. These are things you will see nowhere else. A beautiful and intimate journey with images that grab your interest on every page. Whether you're a Stones fan or not, you will love this book (and it also makes a great and thoughtful gift).

A must have book for every Rolling Stones fan & collector.Matt has spent a lot of time amassing an incredible collection of Stones memorabilia and it is good to see some of his collection and the stories behind how he acquired it.There are many, many items in the book that I would love to have in my own collection and as I have said in my title, I just wish it was a mail order catalogue!Matt will never stop collecting and I will never stop telling him 'how on earth did you get that!"I expect to see a sequal or a revised edition of the book in the next couple of years and as soon as that is available, that, like this one, will be added to my Stones collection.

This book is incredible. The story of the Stones is well known, but this narrative brings new light and a fresh perspective in a fun and engaging way. Moreover, the passion of the author not just for the band, but the artefacts themselves, makes the story a hugely personal and compelling one. This is a “must own” not just for Rolling Stones fans specifically, but for fans of music in general.
