The test is great, the company/lab is very knowledgeable and helpful
I ordered this test due to concerns about mold when my HVAC filter started discoloring too quickly. Based on Amazon reviews and their promised quick turnaround with comprehensive testing, I went with this test kit. The kit was very easy to use, and took minutes including filling out their form. I had questions about additional testing and whether my logic on how/where I collected my 3 samples was correct, so I called them before my results were ready. They took the time to listen to my situation, why I did the test, and what I hoped to get out of it. When I asked if I should buy more kits to take more samples in other locations and other actions, the company rep did the honest thing and told me to wait until the results were complete, at which point they could advise me further. If you're curious, I took 2 samples from my HVAC system: 1st from the actual filter itself, and 2nd from the floor of the main return duct. My 3rd sample was taken from the site of a repaired leak in a shower elsewhere in the house. The reason for my testing is that my 4" HVAC filters are turning nearly black within days of insertion, which is not normal. My running theories include: (1) Mold, (2) Problem with the furnace, (3) Candle Soot. I made a deal with my wife that I would test for mold first before asking her to stop lighting candles for a couple weeks test that theory. At the VERY reasonable cost of this test, including a professional lab that actually picks up the phone to answer customer questions, it was worth doing. Since they only just received my samples, I do not have results yet but was informed to expect them possibly today. I appreciate their quick turnarounds, and intend to update my review once my business with this company is complete. I will say for now, that based on just that 1 phone call I have very high expectations for them. I'm entirely happy with their service so far, and see no reason why it won't continue that way. UPDATE: I received my lab analysis (which was both thorough and informative) and called them to discuss. I spoke once again to their rep/lab guy Aaron. He was equally informative, thorough in answering my questions, and generous with his time and desire to help me. He gave me the advice I was looking for, and not once did he try to rush me away. His time and advice alone was worth more than the price of the kit. Aaron from Mold Inspection Network, you're awesome!

Delivers fast and accurate results
I was looking for a simple, affordable DIY mold kit so I could test several areas in my office for mold. Multiple colleagues in my office have similar chronic coughs, as well as asthma. They've filed complaints with management, but nobody is taking them seriously. So I decided to take the initiative to at least test the surfaces that I thought appear to have mold growing on them. This kit is easy to use and comes with detailed, easy to follow instructions. per the kit's instructions, please protect yourself by wearing an allergen mask and protective gloves when you are doing the testing. The kit comes with 3 test strips that have a sticky surface. Once you remove the protective covering on these strips, the sticky surface becomes exposed. Place the strip on the test area (sticky side touching the surface of the area you are testing for mold). Press firmly so that it picks up whatever is on your test surface. Once you've used all three test strips, they go back in to their individual plastic cases to protect them from being cross contaminated. You then send them to the testing lab, along with your detailed information sheet. My results came back MUCH faster than I had anticipated! My suspicions were correct in that there was definitely mold present in our air ducts, as well as on the wall of the windowsill in our conference room (when it rains heavily, water just literally pours in from the leaking window frame and has been doing so for years. The landlord that we lease the office space from has does nothing to repair this major problem). I'm glad I bought this mold kit because it has helped me to gather useful information that will hopefully help support our demands to have our office thoroughly inspected and cleaned. Not only did this company process my test and deliver the results quickly, their customer service was stellar. They send you a very thorough results package that breaks down all of the different types of mold that the test has found on the areas you tested. It also shows you what level of each type of mold is found (scattered, very low, low, medium, high). They also provide you with clear definitions of each type of mold and what potential health risks they can have. I was very pleased with the amount of detail this test result provided. Additionally, the person who sent me my results via email was very professional and courteous. They assured me that if I had any follow up questions regarding the results, that I should not hesitate to contact them at any time. I highly recommend this product and the company!

Fast communication and results...may take some research.
My partner and I were having suspicions of mold after noticing dark spots in the shower. Additionally, my partner has moderate immune issues and suffers from asthma, skin conditions, congestion, etc. We live in a rented side unit to our landlord's house and realize that asking for professional help without first confirming help was needed would just take a lot of time. It was a huge priority to be able to cheaply diagnose our temporary living conditions and put me and my partner at ease. The package contains a sample kit with glass collection slides (similar to slides from a microscope) and a set of instructions and forms to fill out and submit. Sampling the areas was relatively easy as long as you can get contact with the surface of the glass slide with the mold. There is a technical limitation; in hard-to-reach areas, angling the glass just right to capture the suspected mold is difficult. After sampling our unit we filled out the forms and mailed them off. It would have been great if the product came with a ready-to-mail envelope for the slides. Instead, you receive a plastic bag to place the used slides. I received a phone call within a business week of mailing out the forms. Your results may vary but expect a call from South Carolina. I ended up missing the call and not speaking to a specialist regarding my results. That being said, it was a fast and easy process to email and contact the support and get an emailed summary of my reports. The results were clear but lacked context. My partner and I had to research a bit on our own what "low" or "scattered" mold spores meant in certain families of mold. I imagine speaking to the specialist would clarify these concerns, but I think it would be extremely beneficial if context to the results came with the results themselves. Overall, we are thankful for the mold test kit and customer support. I recommend this product to anyone who needs a quick and fast summary of potential mold for an impermanent household.

Very Professional, Do-it-Yourself Testing Kit
This is an excellent do-it-yourself mold test kit that includes laboratory analysis. The company is very professional and sends the results in about a week via email. In addition, when the results are emailed, they give you an automated courtesy call at the phone number you provide that indicates that your test results are ready, and to check your email. They are also available via phone and/or email to answer any questions you may have, although I did not need to exercise this option. The test kit includes three slides for samples that you need to individually label, and there is a special "chain of custody" form that must be filled out that identifies you, the work site, and itemizes the samples. The form is very easy to fill out and is just another example of how this company dots the i's and crosses the t's, this is very professionally done. When you take the samples, it is very important to protect yourself, and the documentation sent with the test kit emphasizes this. Although in my case I did not think I had a serious problem, I wanted to do this test just in case to make sure. I have had a leaky bathtub for almost 10 years and I was concerned about several areas under my bathtub in the crawl space above the subfloor. I took every precaution, including gloves, a respirator, and goggles. If you do this yourself, it's worth the extra trouble to make sure you do not get exposed to something. It may seem like too much fuss, but if you think you need to test a mold problem then you must make sure to protect yourself just in case it turns out to really be a problem! Another important thing to understand, you need to interpret the test results yourself and come to your own conclusions. The results include descriptions of many common mold types, and the test includes 14 different mold types and the concentration of each, if any. This is important for liability reasons, the company thoroughly tests the samples you send and indicates for each the concentration and pollen/fragment levels for each, but obviously it is up to you to decide if you really have a problem or not. After all, you took the samples yourself. If you have any doubt at all, hire a professional, but if you can collect samples and read a test report on those samples, this kit is great!

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY
DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY, THESE REVIEWS SEEM TO GOOD TO BE TRUE AND I WAS RIGHT Bought the test kit because of all the positive reviews and most received quick results. What I found has been a 180 from these reviews and leads me to believe these reviews are either written by the company or bought. First off when I received the kit all it contained 3 plastic strips with a sticky end on each and a form. I used one of the sticky strips on drywall and it pulled the paper off the drywall so that test was probably worthless. After completing all 3 test spots I put them in their plastic carriers and mailed off. There was no pre-addressed envelope or postage paid like other kits I researched so right away I was frustrated. Then it took 8 days to receive results not the 3-4 days as most mentioned. When I received the results it came with a terms and conditions page that says I must agree to the statements on the page. Shouldn’t I have seen this before I bought the kit? After reading the terms & conditions it says this test is limited in scope and cannot detect hidden mold. I guess this is my fault for not understanding this test. This tests for only mold you can see. So if you can see mold you know you have mold so why test. I want to test, as probably most of you, for mold you can’t see and this test is totally worthless. The terms & conditions also say Mold Inspection Network cannot be held liable and then says by purchasing and using this kit you submit to agreement with this statement. Again, if I am agreeing to something shouldn’t I have known about it before I pay for and use the product? Seems mighty suspicious to me and I’m sure this arose from problems the company had with consumers like me that feel they have been cheated and I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE STATEMENTS ON THE TERMS & CONDITIONS. The results I received from Mold Inspection Network said I had “scattered” PEN/ASP and low levels of Stachybotrys in one area and “scattered” in another. These results were conflicting to me and made it seem I did not have much of a problem. I could smell the mold and I was sneezing and had headaches so I decided to have a professional run tests on the same areas and they found high levels of ASP/PEN and no traces of Stachy (Black Mold). That just tells me to not waste your time on this product as it will not be what you are looking for. Go to a professional or buy a more accurate mold test kit that test for hidden mold that can be found in dust as the professional did. So don’t be duped, learn from me.

Product is easy to use and send off with fast results, however, it fails to identify one of the most dangerous fungi
Easy to use and send off for results. The one thing I did not like about it is that the test could not distinguish aspergillus from penicillium which is a very important point. Aspergillus is the commonly the culprit in "toxic mold" which can cause severe respiratory (lung) and blood infections resulting in permanent damage to the lung or even death. Penicillium is a benign organism as it is common in the natural environment and does not cause infection in humans (actually it was the original source of the antibiotic penicillin, hence the name). For this reason, I give the product 3 stars as it can not differentiate one of the worse fungi from one of the most harmless ones! This distinction can be made by labs but I guess not this one which processes the samples you send off when you buy this product. Update After further research, most of the cheaper mold tests (under 100 dollars) are based on a visual test of the sample which does not allow for differentiating aspergillosis from penicillium. Given the cost of this test being <50 dollars by DIY Mold Test, it is the cheapest mold test out there. Keep in mind it is limited on what it can report compared to other mold tests that use PCR and are more sensitive and specific to various types of molds including aspergillosis and penicillin but will cost you at least 120 dollars.

Easy test for surface mold
I've tested allergic to several varieties of mold, and had occasionally noticed a musty smell in my room when I wasn't running the air purifier. When I also finally realized there was an access point to the bathroom plumbing located behind a wall panel in the corner of the room, I started to be concerned about whether or not ongoing symptoms might be mold-related, and this test seemed to be the easiest way to begin investigating. Using the test is simple: choose 3 test sites, label your test strips appropriately, log the strips on the form included. The strips are just really sticky plastic slides, intended to help identify visible mold colonies. While I hadn't actually seen any evidence of mold, I figured they would pull up any spores that might have been distributed and thereby give me an idea of whether I needed to mount a more serious investigation. So I tested a surface inside the access panel and two surfaces outside near my bed, and then sent them off for evaluation. (I agree with other reviews that it would be nice for the kit to include an envelope to return them in, as remembering to buy one was the most time consuming element of the whole thing, but understand this might increase the expense overall.) It probably took about 10 days to receive an email that included my results, which included a thorough rundown on the types of organisms they test for so you have some understanding of what they mean. When I still had some questions, I got quick responses via email and phone, and ultimately was able to speak to a technician to clarify suggested next steps. Note this doesn't promise to be the equivalent of a professional mold investigation, and those are far more expensive and labor intensive to boot. But if you're trying to identify a mystery substance, or determine whether there's something going on that you do need to investigate more seriously, this would be a good place to start. For myself, the primary concern was whether or not I was living in a cloud of mystery molds that were making me ill, and the results helped eliminate my worries on that front, so money well spent.

Great, easy test. Quick answer!!
The results ARE accurate. How do I know? My father has a fungus in his lungs. We knew it was in the house somewhere, but Mold Inspection Network helped lead us to the culprit...the nebulizer fan blade...don't ask. We were then able to have the appropriate tests run when I told his doctor what was found on the DIY test. They do not claim to help with medical issues..I could be mistaken, but I think I could have been referred to a medical person if I wanted to be, but that wasn't necessary. I pushed for the appropriate tests and I wonder if MIM helped save his life. I am not kidding. The doctors were not going to check for fungus...I bought a test and WOW. Mold is no joke. Take your time. Read the directions carefully. Everything is there. No, I don't believe you can test the air and I don't believe they claim that the kit does test air. You have to have something that will stick to the slide. This was a relatively inexpensive first step. Our next step is calling an air quality testing company. Ugh QUICK delivery and easy to use. The results were quick and clear. Great communication and all questions answered!! We have an old house with issues. We found out some good things as well as some not-so-good, but this is something you should know. We bought a second one...and a third to test other areas. Thank you!!
